Dead & Company was formed in 2015 when the Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir joined forces with artist and musician John Mayer, Allman Brothers’ bassist Oteil Burbridge, and Fare Thee Well and RatDog keyboardist Jeff Chimenti. The result was one of the most successful touring bands of the decade. The inaugural tour kicked off in the fall of 2015 with two sold-out shows at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York City and ended with two sold-out performances at the ‘Fabulous’ Forum in Inglewood, California.
Since then, the band has completed five tours, playing to more than 1.5 million fans, and has become a record-breaking stadium act. Dead & Company has headlined iconic stadiums across the country including Folsom Field, Autzen Stadium, Citi Field, Fenway Park and Dodger Stadium. Additionally, the band broke Wrigley Field’s all-time concert attendance record in 2017. Dead & Company’s 2018 Summer Tour ranked in the top 25 of the Top 100 Worldwide Tours and for the past two years, their Summer Tours ranked in the top 15 of the Top Global Concert Tours.

No one on earth could have done Jerry proud the way that Mayer does. May the god's bless him.
He's come such a long way since he first joined the Dead. He seems more matured, content and chilled as if he doesn't have to impress anyone anymore. Love it!!!!
Content*
A lot of that comes from the cast he's surrounded by, especially Bob
You know it! We’re better for having him and he’s better for having us.
He looks like he has some chemical contentment here. When I saw them in Atlanta a couple of years ago I was really impressed with how well he played with Bob and the other guys.
Socrates
That Mayer solo is straight fire🔥
Agreed...but look at the concentration. Not complaining as I could only do first chord (if I was lucky)...Just makes me miss Jerry as he looked so effortless with Bertha
@@johnheim55 Check out the rest of his D&C playing, he rarely is so glued to it. Must've been a slow night.
@@DRMCC0Y HEY NOW -- Yes...No doubt and it must have beem vey cold there! While I got on the bus a long time ago....and I would listen to D&C wherever and whenever, I cannot bring myself to go to a D&C show nor view (for an extended sitting) one of their shows....I miss a cleam shaven Bobby LOL..
Yes it is
@@johnheim55Mayer plays with a lot of expression. Just his style
John Mayer is on his way to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. I can’t wait for that day to come.
Man it pains me to see people shit on John when he’s such a master. He fit in this band like a hand in a custom tailored glove. This performance is practically flawless. His tenure in this band will be a bigger and more important part of his legacy in the future than I think most people realize. The fact that he kicked so much ass while in Dead & Co., which is probably the best post-Garcia Dead iteration is a serious thing.
This is absolutely the best Post-Jerry line up Bobs ever put together
@@ashleyleimgruber2165Exactly what I’m getting at, agree 100%.
Yeah he's really into it
While still working on his own stuff too. When does he sleep. Been a fan of his since room for squares..
First time I've ever seen John Mayer look dosed &"really feeling it"!! I lived to see this moment for me to process things.
Lol you listen through your eyes. He always feels while playing fool.
John’s effortlessly brilliant voiceeeee 🤍🤍🤍✨✨
Im warming up to John's version...Love it....i hope he always is involved in Dead music.
Mayer sounds soo good ! His singing keeps getting better.
Agreed, really liked his singing on this.
Lol, his singing is one of the things that will never stop bugging me. It's like his voice is stuck on "elevator music" mode.. wish he could screech & wail. But I still love him.
@@gratefulguy4130 LOL, yeah, I'm generally not a fan of his singing but for some reason I really liked it this time.
@@gratefulguy4130 If you complain about John's voice I don't know what you say about Bob Weir's voice which is horrible
Facts
I don’t know, but I just stumbled upon this video and can’t stop listening to it. I haven’t really listened since John Mayer started with them and I’m loving it. Just saying.
I agree with you…me too.
what an incredible version, great job John. Adding his own color to it.
classic 70s vibes with that silver sky!
Best soloing I've heard Mayer do with these guys!
Haven't listened to these guys for a year but, Wow! John is so so much more mature and in peace in the Dead's songs compared to 2015 ... simply amazing!! cant believe 2015 is already 7 years ago......
this comment just made me realize how long ago 2015 was when you made this comment, and then I remembered that 2015 is now almost nine years ago....wtf man, time flies by way too fast lol. I must say, though, an eight year run is damn solid for any band. Just crazy to think about the fact that when it has nearly been a decade since I first learned that Mayer was going to be in the Dead...time is a strange thing, man
This was my first Dead's concert and I just loved it!! ❤️
welcome aboard!
Zz
But it’s more like a Dead cover band. Not really a Dead concert per se.
@@gringoloco4 only the ignorant call it a cover band. Lot scene is packed, doses, good bud, mushrooms , evrywhere. Bob Weir sings HIS SONGS, ya know THAT HE WROTE. I guess he is "covering" his own songs. Lmao.
@@mrs.f8611 Bob Weird has sucked since the 1980s. Sorry you are def.
JM does a beautiful job here. Really makes the song his own. It's folksy and sweet with nice guitar flourishes.
Mayer is so good not only does his voice bring me back to the 90s Dave Mathews days but now he’s playing in my new favorite band 🤙🏼
New?
@@jerry-st7rc as in new for me. Only been listening for a few years
@@McShibby10 welcome aboard 😁😜
Mayer is unbelievable.
it is really cool to see Bob playing
This solo is beautiful 🤩
Gonna see them again in ten weeks!!!
Get well Billy.. Love prayers and good vibes to you brother.. And no worries Mr. J Lane is driving this 🔥🔥
He probably shouldn’t have gotten the jab and forced his fan base to get it if they wanted to see this particular Dead cover band.
I can't wait to see this song LIVE at Las Vegas Sphere on May 25th!! Got best section 206 YAY CANT WAIT
I was there freezing my ass off and dancing!
That’s Right!!!🤣
In a world of auto tuned vocals, and programmed drum beats... this was just beautiful. thanks for sharing.
I have to be honest, I have been mostly ambivalent to this ensemble the past few years, but I do think they have their spots where they are really hitting. I am particularly fond of their takes on New Speedway and Deal. And of course in true "Dead" fashion they find their moments within each show / song to really shine. As an example I do like the solo and instrumental bridge in the middle here.
They were hit and Miss until 2019. They've been incredibly consistent and getting better and better since
I wish more people would open their mind and think this way. It not about John or "slow n company" it's about finding those moments. And when you find them, you bite into a big piece of Grateful Dead nostalgia.
John is the chosen one.
That was awesome! Ty for posting it! 😊
thankyou how wonderful!
I wonder if I'll be watching these someday with no original members left in the band
Bob said himself thats the hope. That John, Jeff, and Otiel carry on
We could get so lucky. Bob is horrible.
@@gringoloco4 you aren’t a Grateful Dead fan if you think bob weir is horrible
Nope. Next year is their last tour. It wouldn’t have made sense to call it “Dead” and Company without members of the original band
@@2v_5r84 is this the equivalent of Demsheviks not being able to define women because they aren’t biologists ? 🤡
I had a hard run
Running from your window
I was all night running
Wonder if you care
I had a run-in
Run around and a run down
Run around a corner
Run smack into a tree
Refrain:
I had to move
Really had to move
That's why if you please
I am on my bended knees
Bertha don't you come around here anymore.
Dressed myself in green
Went down to the sea
Try to see what's going down going down
Maybe read between the lines
Had a feeling I was falling falling falling falling
Turned around to see
Heard a voice now it's calling calling calling calling
It was calling after me
Back to me
Refrain (2x)
I had to move
Really had to move
That's why if you please
I am on my bended knees
Bertha don't you come around here anymore
Ran into a rainstorm
Ducked into a bar door
It was all night pouring pouring pouring pouring
But not a drop on me
Test me test me
Why don't you arrest me?
Throw me in the jail house
Until the sun goes down
Til it goes down down
Refrain (3x)
I had to move
Really had to move
That's why if you please
I am on my bended knees
Bertha don't you come around here anymore
Ty
John you have done such a great job
Long live the greatful dead
Dead head for life
❤️ JERRY!!!
Wish John would go back to the three-humbucker PRS, that thing sounds so good
Yeah, love the silver sky but the super eagle just sounds so grateful dead.
@@DRMCC0Y Super Eagle! It even has a great name! I saw them in October, and he mostly played the Silver Sky. I think he plays more blues licks and less Jerry-like lines when he has the Strat clone. I hope he gets back to chasing the Jerry-vibes. That 2019/early 2020 D&C was really cookin’!
i saw a couple shows in colorado, super noticable when he was using the humbuckers, seemed like the sound just cut through different more like Jerry's guitars
awesome, feels right
Awesome!
When I think about Jay,Bobby and Jeff playin 1000 ratdog shows I feel happy and old...lol
✌️🏳️🕉️☮️🕊️
I really love the tone of the Guitar, matches well with your tone👌
Sooo gooood. Very much appreciated, John's vocals 🤌
I've been watching these guys since Mayer took over the guitar duties, waiting for them to jell and show that kind of alchemy that made the GD such a great band when Jerry was alive. Mayer's singing and playing seem to be right on point in this number. Now if he could lose the headphones we'll be in business . . . Long story short, they sound great.
Last tour, dont wait too long
Jay and Mickey sound great together as well. Be well Billy
Love how Jay is watching to learn from Mickey how this tune develops.
Towards the end of summer tour Mickey and Bobby turned it up a notch.. Mickey added a new Tom Tom and looked more focused and energized. Bobby started playing much more rhythmically moving the tunes along. Maybe someone said something to them.
And for the record I love and respect evy band that I played with so thank you all for your support and I love all you guys
Mayer!!!!! badass
beautiful
I’m going back on tour really soon you guys are so awesome
Yeah ok 👌🏼
💙🎸🕊️absolutely beautiful 😁👍
major improvements seen this year!!!
Jay and Jay bonding in Colorado '21 ) Prayers and Support for Billy! Bop bop ) Bobby, the lone ranger rockin on ) NFA~
Jay sounds great! ⚡️💀🌹
We love you Vincent
Love you John
What a tribute to Jerry! John Mayer can play!
❤🤟🏽🌹
Excellent lead technique at 5 and a half minutes. Shees..schmokin my brother. Ok. You're family now!!
the lick at 5:02 that says he wants another lead makes you feel under water so sick
John, play the fight riff!
I have to admit John Mayer is a great player, and this band is good, but my concert-going days are over. I saw the Grateful Dead six times. That was enough. I consider myself lucky.
What an awesome set list! Great show guys... Much love!!! Blessings to all! (~);}

a chilly show.
October in Colorado.....must have been cold....they look it all dressed in coat's and glove's.....
Sounds like a good night ....🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🦫🦫🦫😎👏👏👏👏👍👌👌👌
17 days. Boulder Co.
Im sorry but mayer is top tier all time guitar player, like in a different stratosphere
See you guys at the next ded and company show
loooks cold
Just saw JM Solo in Hollywood, Florida
Rien à dire 👍 ❤🎩🇲🇦🇲🇦
I think he should redo all of JGB albums for a tribute to Jerry
Anyway ne know the song that start at the end?
This is the best Greatful Dead version I’ve ever heard.
It’s Great but Orchard Park 7/89 doesn’t get Any Better!!!
Scissorhands for sure, though.
This is for a lot of people, you know who you are. 12/16/2021 I'M FINALLY AM OKAY WITH YOU KNOW WHO !!!!!!!!
the compression is bad it sounds like a kid is playing with the volume control
That’s gotta be brutal to play in that cold. Their fingers must feel all sorts of stiff.
Where is Bill?
Look like that was a cold concert right there😂
That guitar playin kills me.....
What kind of guitar is this?
PRS Silver Sky in Satin Moc Sand
So sweet ❤
@3:15, 3:19, 4:46
Cool as Mickey
Anyone know why Bobby always has something around his neck?
whats the song its going into next ?
Good Lovin’ , first track on Shakedown Street
Mayer is next

Bob GAUCHO Weir!
Man I'm sorry to say this but it sounds so much better with Jay here and the tempo isn't dragging. Bill just isn't driving the band anymore.
As a drummer, it's frustrating to listen to.
What happened to Bill where's bill??
John good by Jerry

Long live the Dead
I guess when you trade two nights in Florida. For two nights in Oct. In Colorado. You freeze your a---- off!
Better to freeze in Colorado then risk death in covid state.
@@brendanmason9017 the tolerant left strikes again
🙊🙉🙈
4 shows in Colorado, and zero in Florida. That sounds kinda perfect to me, regardless of weather.
I would rather become an ice cube than ever step foot in that mess of a state.
WTF is Mickey doing? LOL
Great singer but makes me miss Jerry's voice a lot
Who let Jack White join the band?
?
What’s up with the headphones ? Anyone know ? Also lead singer/ rhythm guitarist needs to retire like 5 years ago.
I think he sings too low to hear himself without the headphones, as long as it sounds great as this I don't care
@@fchampd4512 this sounds great ? Do you also enjoy Phil’s “singing” ?
@@gringoloco4 phil is out of tune 99%of the time. John mayer was not on this recording
@@gringoloco4 and phil is not even in this performance
@@fchampd4512 but he plays Grateful Dead music and also sings like chit.
It looks like a funeral
It is almost sacrilegious to say but his solo is as good as Jerry's was.
Is this hell
Get away from me damn fan that keeps wobbling towards me!
I’m so used to the 1970 album version that I want to turn up the playback speed here. The original is a high energy .. cup of coffee with the morning sun kind of tune. This version is too much of a sleepy nightcap for me.
Check out Los Lobos live covers. It's been a staple of theirs since the nineties.. Nothing sleepy about it at all.
I’m coming back everyday to remind Bobby of his pretentious selfish ways !
