My great grandpa owned a Pontiac dealership in upstate NY. When he passed, he left me a 64’ Pontiac Tempest Custom. Classic straight 6, 100% original, I’ll love these cars till the day I die

You do know the Sprint 6 OHc6 a4 bbl engines are a drop in swap for the pre-65 line sixes, and are a LOT faster.

    Little GTO
    You're really lookin' fine
    Three deuces and a four-speed
    And a three-eighty-nine
Listen to her tachin' up now
    Listen to her whine
C'mon and turn it on, wind it up, blow it out, GTO
    Yeah, yeah, little GTO
    Yeah, yeah, little GTO
    Yeah, yeah, little GTO
    Yeah, yeah, little GTO
    Aaah, little GTO
You oughta see her on a road course
    Or a quarter mile
    This little modified Pon-Pon
    Has got plenty of style
She beats the gassers and the rail jobs
    Really drives 'em wild
C'mon and turn it on, wind it up, blow it out, GTO
    Yeah, yeah, little GTO
    Yeah, yeah, little GTO
    Yeah, yeah, little GTO
    Yeah, yeah, little GTO
    Aaah, little GTO
    Gonna save all my money
And buy a GTO (turnin' it on blowin' it out)
Get a helmet and a roll bar
And I'll be ready to go (turnin' it on, blowin' it out)
    Take it out to Pomona
And let 'em know, yeah yeah (turnin' it on blowin' it out)
That I'm the coolest thing around
Little buddy, gonna shut you down
When I turn it on, wind it up, blow it out, GTO
    Yeah, yeah, little GTO
    Yeah, yeah, little GTO
    Yeah, yeah, little GTO
    Yeah, yeah, little GTO
    Aaah, little GTO

Gotta love the notion that this was a big engine in a "little" car. They aren't that small. They could have been if they didnt have trunks big enough for like 5 bodies.

I had a 73 Buick Skylark as my first car. It was stock when I bought it, but it didn’t stay that way. It was a great car. Super fast between stop lights. But my current Porsche is way better 😀

“Muscle cars” go back to the late 1940’s. The ‘49 Olds rocket 88, ‘51 Hudson Hornet, ‘55 E-code Ford Thunderbird, and ‘57 Chrysler 300-C are all proof of that.

I suppose you could say that the Goat was the first mass produced muscle car, but there were others before. The Mopar Max wedge came out in 62. Ford had lots of muscle in the early 60's, but of course they were purpose built. Even GM had the 409 in 61. I just don't understand why they say GTO is the first muscle car.

Can a muscle car be a hot rod?

    • @MrJett1971
      @MrJett1971 Před 7 měsíci +1

Not really. A muscle car was considered a factory built performance car. Hot rods were something people built in their garage out of old bodies and go-fast parts, or more powerful, modern engines in an older car. Just my two cents.

The Chrysler 300 was the first American muscle car!!! It was started in 1955 and was the first American car with 300hp thus the name. GM fans are delusional!! In 1964 the Chrysler 300 had 360hp and 470fb of torque. Considerably more than this so called muscle car!! GM fans are ignorant

The 1949 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 was actually the first muscle car, just saying.
