I skated like crazy in the late 90's and early 2000's and I just want to say how much I appreciate The Nine Club. It's so rad seeing all these dudes I admired telling stories. I listen to this on the way to and from work every Monday. Thank you Chris Roberts, Kelly Hart, and Roger Bagley!

Chris Howard - how: I truly, not just sorta, recommitted myself to following how the Bible teaches us to live. I'm sure as skaters that may sound lame, or Cliche (rip), but yeah man, I did Aa for awhile, got super open with the rubbish heap in my life that was causing guilt and anger- confessed a bunch of sin or things I'd done wrong, that alone led to most of my using, just guilt and stress of running from my past, and stopped being Selfish. I read the Bible like crazy (entire thing in 3 months) and to this day do my best to follow the Blueprint that Jesus lived out.
AA was great but it has to be coupled with a deeper commitment to God (not just a higher power; but God/Jesus/Bible) otherwise you'll just find another vice and not truly heal. Admit we've sinned and need help is the first step, confess all the garbage, and the thing that's kept me sober is realizing the Satan has lied to us and all the crap I was living for (money, power, control, "freedom", anger) were not good things that lead to a fulfilled life - but were fighting against the best way to live! If you have google, type in John 10:10... see what I'm saying. We want life to the full, but we get robbed if we try it any other way, then Gods way...

I am a newly recovering addict. This shit is really helpful to hear him and a few of your other guests talk about their struggles with drugs and alcohol as well. Nice to know that I am not alone and that a lot of skaters have the same issues as me. Really good to hear all these skaters getting clean and sober these days. Like he said, if I can do it anyone can do it.

You would read the mags over and over, every last bit until there was new stuff in the next edition.

I grew up on photosynthesis and Brian wenning. Love this guy to life and death, sad to hear he had all these problems but he's definitely one of the inspirations to me to skate on my younger years. One of the best video parts to date. Much respect to Brian

every skateboarder they put on the nine club turns into my favorite skater. after listening to brain and knowing nothing other than his skating, this dude is truly as my dad used to say "even the finest steel has to go through the hottest fire"...fuck i can't wait for next week when i get another new favorite skater.
Such a dope episode, I feel like Brian Wenning's skate style is definitely a reflection of his personality. Seems like such a cool guy who just had to battle a confluence of bad situations that lead him to drop off. I'm glad he's back into skating for the love. I had to go back and watch his shared park with Tim O'Conner in Mosaic, one of my favorite parts of all time.
Probably my favourite one so far, wenning used to be my fav skater and I've always wondered what happened to him. He had the best style for the type of skating, and it totally fits with his personality. Thanks for this one guys!

Wenning's Habitat Coexist was my first "real" skateboard. Man that thing had some pop. I loved it literally to death. Being from Jersey too it meant just that little bit more to me. Glad to see him back riding.

SP can really suck but calmness is the best way to wake or even better to transfer into a lucid dream. Lucidiy comes in levels and I can only conjure my hometown park and a board and out of over-excitement I just start doing insane transition gaps before waking or losing focus. Ideally one could continue the calmness and focus into real life applicable training on the most technical of tricks. This has been admittedly done by numerous prominent figures, inventors, writers etc. sorry for the side topic, just wanted to throw out some positive on the subject. Anyone who has had it understands the passion. GREAT episode!

I used to get sleep paralysis, but now, after meditating, doing yoga, and taiji, for over ten years it doesn't happen anymore, and I comfortably sleep on my back every night. I hear that stuff is from demon influence and stuff, someone at the Buddhist temple was talking about it.

Sobriety is the shit. I have... 1 1/2 years so far. 42 years old. Skating again. I luckily have pretty good genes and I do not feel 42 and after my drug history I should look old AF..... used to be able to Ollie over trash cans in front of my house in my twenties... snap that tail and pop right over the trash can and my kick flips were solid as well and now I can barely Ollie.. Lol. but I know it will all come back to me..

Yo, I remember going to this shitty ass roller rink in Jersey for "skate night" on Fridays. Eatontown Roller Rink. This was almost 15 years ago. I would see this dude tearin up the boxes in some baggy ass pants and I would look at my friends like, "Is that fuckin Brian Wenning?" "Yeah man he skates here sometimes".
