Pov Time
You stood overlooking the sunset at Wangshu Inn. Despite agreeing to meet the Adeptus here, no sign of him was seen. Huffing a sigh you turned on your heel, humming slightly to yourself as you passed the receptionist and the kitchen. You made your way up the stairs, slinking near silently through the halls.
You scanned the doors and their respective numbers until you finally came across his. It was out of character for him to show late to your meetups like this. You went to knock on the hardwood door, only to have it creak open by itself as though inviting you into the Adeptus' abode.
You poked your head in, not being able to see much thanks to the low light. Squinting your eyes you stepped in, taking a moment to adjust.
"Xiao?" You called out, voice laced with a delicate concern you tried not to show.
No response. You bit your inner cheek as you began to walk through the room. This may have been an invasion of privacy sure but... You had to know. You could hear quiet yet heavy breathing from behind a door. It sounded like a struggle of sorts, with a hand on the doorknob you contemplated knocking but it was a bit late for that. You had already ventured through most of his room anyway. Turning the knob the door opened smoothly as the figure in front of you immediately turned his head towards you.
The sight you saw just barely registered as your cheeks flared red, had you just...?
"Y/n," He greeted shortly, not showing much emotion other than annoyance at your 'interruption'.
Dragon-like tattoos glowed an aqua colour, illuminating the near pitch-black room as sharp yellow eyes tore through yours.
"Speak," He ordered, back still turned. He wished to know why you had arrived an hour early and came barging into his room nonetheless.
"I... Uh...," You tripped over your words, unable to form a sentence. As Xiao moved, you could see the tattoos lightly move with him. They were a stunning sight to see but Xiao was losing patience with your silence.
"What is it you're doing here Y/n? I won't ask again," His voice was much more aggressive this time, his patience running thinner than a spider's web.
"You were late to our meetup so I came to check on you..." You began, finally managing to stomach your emotion and form a sentence.
Xiao frowned, had he concerned you? Then again, you lacked the common sense to realise it was daylights savings. He made a sudden movement, flinching as he released a tiny grunt of pain. The tattoos on his back glowed a more violent colour now, he tightened his eyes shut as the glowing eased slightly.
"If you're here now then maybe you can help me with this," He finally turned his body to face you, approaching with that dominant presence he always possessed.
You instinctively moved a tiny bit back at the sudden approach, gulping nervously as a hand move by your head, closing the door behind you and removing the tiny ray of light that originated from the opposite room. Now you stood between the door and Xiao, longing eyes that reminded you of cinders looked passionately into yours. His breathing was still heavy as he moved closer. It tickled your neck, causing your back to arch into him as you tensed. He peppered light kisses on your neck, your body warm as your hands touched his bare skin. He pulled away from your neck and took your chin in his two fingers, like a snake entwining its prey he wrapped his other hand around your waist and pulled you closer.
"Y/n," His voice was lower, more... Lustful than the last. He spoke your name like it was the last name he'd ever say. "You had the nerve to enter my home without even bothering to knock or inform me of your arrival,"
He pulled your face closer, your lips only millimetres away. He was teasing you now, punishing you.
"I think it's time you receive your judgement," He pulled away from your lips and loved towards your ear, still keeping your head firmly in place as the fingers that once held your chin moved around your neck, gripping lightly.

The sun was barely touching the horizon in Bishui Plains when you returned to your temporary home, Wangshu Inn. You had checked in a month ago when the Inn was full to the max. To your surprise, the adeptus residing there had uncharacteristically offered to share his room with you. You’ve been living together with him since, however, you had hardly any time to interact… not that Xiao would prefer to converse with you anyway.
Now that you were home, you could finally put your fighting stance away - resting your tense and strained muscles. With Xiao out doing his duties so often and his lack of the necessity to sleep, he barely even used the room you two were sharing.
Walking into your shared room, you had anticipated it to be total stillness like it typically was… so why were you facing the toned and tattooed back of a shirtless adeptus?
The symbols etched on his back seemed to emit a soft emulating glow in the darkened room, casting green and defining his shoulder blades to the muscles at the base of his spine. It was mesmerizing to say at least, watching each muscle move with every breath and... and... and you blink.

You were virtually halfway out the door, believing that it’ll be fine if you just left wordlessly without him realizing you were ever there... but then he turned around and made direct eye contact. A shock ran down your arms as the silent tension built. Your face had never felt warmer in your life.

Jolting up, you get the second heart attack this week. Xiao, now fully clothed, appeared to be wordlessly gazing at your fidgeting form. But the scene just keeps on replaying itself whenever you close your eyes so you just decide not to make any more eye contact.
“… I apologize,” You decide to break the ice, trying to look anywhere other than him. “For walking in on you… I should’ve knocked.”
“I don’t understand why you mortals always react so unnecessarily dramatic…” He laments, shaking his head before looking at you. “It’s fine. It means nothing to me.”
_“Really…?”_ You lift your gaze, stunned. “You don’t think I’m some kind of weirdo?”
Xiao's face settles into a passive expression and you suddenly feel nervous, heart dropping to your stomach.
“Out of all the many mortals I’ve met, you are a… strange one.” You wince at the blunt comment, and he hesitates. “Getting so worked up over looking at another’s back, how childish.”
(If you had examined closer, you would have seen a curious flash in his eyes, scanning over your fretting silhouette. Can't feel human emotions, he says.)
You droop from relief, sagging in your chair.
“Thank the Archons… Now looking back on it, it definitely seems as though I was ogling your physique... _doesn't help that people in this world are so damned attractive.”_ You nervously chuckled, lowering your voice at the end. He furrows his eyebrows.

You look around, and you see another door. It was slightly open. Your curiosity was killing you so you walk in and drop the note you had clenched in your hand the whole time. It was Adeptus Xiao changing right infront of you.
You blush and try to run out of the room. He grabs your hand in pulls you in the room, locking the door. "Hey what are yo-" you try to yell. You're paralyzed in shock. Xiao grips your neck and whispers in your ear, "I told you, there will be consequences." He then sinks his teeth into your ear. You let out a noise."I didn't say you could speak." Xiao says staring at your neck. "I wonder what would happen if I tried this then". Xiao sinks his teeth into your neck and moves down to the collar bone, then down to your * *. You start to tremble. "A-Adeptus" You yell out. Xiao then tells you, " I like destroying things that piss me off. Good luck doing your commissions tomorrow after my punishment".

There had been a recent hilichurl extermination by Wangshu, and Xiao wanted to stay close to you. You offered to share a room with him, and he had agreed. What wasn’t innocent was-
In a flash, anemo burst in the room, obscuring your vision with vivid green with streaks of black. He was next to you in an instant, and his hand went over your eyes.
“Please.”
You froze. Xiao never pleaded with you. He was pleading now. And his voice- husky, breaking at the edges. Vulnerable. “Please. Don’t look.”
Your hands went up, covering his. “Xiao.”
He was silent.
“You can show me,” you said softly. “You can show me anything, you know that?”
“I know.”
It was your turn to be silent. “Then, why…?”
The hand on your eyes tensed. “... I don’t want you to see me like this.”
“Like, scarred?”
“Like weak,” he replied. “Defenseless.”
Slowly, you pulled his hand down; he didn’t fight you, allowing you to lower it. But you kept your eyes firmly shut. You could feel him double back in surprise when you pulled him fiercely into a hug. Your fingers glided down his back, and you could feel the scars aforementioned there- rough, raised, and warmer than the rest of his skin. You wondered if they still hurt.
“You don’t have to show me if you don’t want you,” you murmured, not wanting to break this gentle tension. “And I won’t pry. But you don’t have to be embarrassed or afraid to show them. But it’s my own personal belief that scars show the strength of a person. And Xiao, you are already the strongest person I’ve ever met. However you got them, it just proves that. Okay? Nothing will ever change that. Nothing.”
He stood there, leaning into your embrace. Eventually, he just flat-out dropped his head on your shoulder, curling himself over you, like a child seeking comfort. You held onto him, letting him lean on you, letting him be the one to rely on you for a change.
“You can open you eyes.”
Your hands go limp with shock. He spoke again, his voice muffled through your hair and your shoulder. “If you want to look, go ahead. Satiate your mortal curiosity, if you must.”
He was back to sounding condescending, but the words carried much heavier than before. Slowly, you allowed your eyes to open, and your gaze fell down to his back.
Up close, it’s even more gruesome. Bleakly, you realized that these scars weren’t at random; the sharpe shape, crisscrossing each other indicates these were intentional. Someone whipped him. It’s probable it was his old master, the one he was forced to serve before he met Morax.
“Well?” Xiao said, defensive. You could feel him stiffening, waiting for your verdict. “Don’t you have anything to say?”
You contemplated your answer. “No,” you said finally, hugging him tighter. “Not really.”
And you stood like this, in the middle of the room, for a long time.

even after all this time in teyvat, everything felt foreign. besides paimon, you felt as if everyone you met was simply another person. you had one goal and yet it felt farther away than ever. the muddled image of your sibling, the emanating evil radiating off of them as they stared right through your efforts.
you entered the inn, allowing the warm colors to soothe your mind. you have a smile to those who passed and paid the small fee for staying the night. the only room left was one near the top, with a birdseye view of all of liyue.
the door seemed to be slightly ajar, which was odd. you gripped the helm of your sword, fearing that maybe some treasure hoarders or even lower fatui members were trying to rob the room. however, when you opened the door fully, you saw something much more…interesting.
there stood xiao, his eyes sharp. they flared, almost as if the sun itself lived inside of them. his arms were covered slightly with the ends of his sleeves, seemingly from removing his shirt. the patterned tattoos that adorned his arms were now fully shown, wrapping around his body like a vine coiled around a dying tree.
you stared, scanning every inch of his skin, marveling at the divots and scars that lined it. the way the setting sun colored in his paleness, how his collarbones bulged and twitched as he moved. he was, truly, heavenly.
“traveler, it’s been a while,” his voice was smoother than you remembered, and something about it made body soften. your eyes still scanned over his body, until you realized he was merely a few feet away, “traveler?”
“sorry i must have spaced out,” you shot your eyes up to his face. even though you stood at nearly the same height, he somehow seemed to tower over you in this moment. his hair was frizzed, and the blue strands seemed to glow in your presence, “it’s nice to see you xiao, but, why are you in my room?”
he seemed to pout a bit at the question before taking a step back, allowing you to re-sheathe your sword.
“i heard you were coming back, and,” he paused, almost embarrassed by his own reasoning, “well, i thought you might want to see a familiar face.”
you couldn’t help the soft laugh that escaped you, it was such pure laughter that you hadn’t experienced in so long. as your eyes turned upwards and tears formed at your waterline. you could hear his interjection of embarrassment, but by the time you had calmed down, he was smiling back at you.
“i’m glad you’re okay,” his voice was different. it wasn’t edged or laced with sternness. it was soft and comforting, it was something you had never really felt before.
“i guess i am,” you replied, your smile slowly simmering to a rest. even after all of the death that you had witnessed in inazuma, with all of the questions you had, this moment under the moonlight with xiao seemed to wash them all away.
in seconds you found yourself close to him once more, this time, however, you let your fingers trace softly over the lines on his skin.

You were out of it today, and it wasn't from exhaustion. It's just one of those days where your mind isn't in the mood to cooperate with your body, often times wondering off to day dream or enter into narration mode.

You couldn't remember because the first thing your brain registered was: Oh, Xiao's here. That's rare.
Normally you'd get too flustered, muttering apologies before shutting the door. Instead, your eyes lingered on his shirtless body and the multiple scars that graced his figure. Xiao isn't buff, but lean. You always thought that he's got a good figure but never did you think he'd have any scars in his body. How come you never noticed? Or were you too busy to even realize they've always been there. You can't tell how long you were lost in your thoughts because the next thing you knew is Xiao's forehead touching yours.
You fought the urge to scream, frightened at how he suddenly appeared in front of you. It wasn't everyday that Xiao touches you. In fact, he was always so hesitant of simple physical contact that you told him that you understand why 'high-fives' aren't a thing. He also doesn't know what a 'high-five' is.
He narrowed his eyes, crossing his arms. "Well you're not sick. So you either lost your hearing after I asked you multliple times what is it you wanted. Or you are what everyone calls, a pervert."

You weren't sure how long you were staring at his back again, you didn't even notice how Xiao's body stiffened when the cold tips of your finger ghosted over his body, tracing each scar as if to see if they were real. "Do they hurt?" You asked.
He scoffed at you, telling you that your question is irrelevant. Xiao found himself mumbling the words 'Not anymore' right after you apologized though. Xiao also found himself staring at the floor, his gaze could bore holes in them and the grip he had on the edge of the wooden box were so strong that he could snap it at any second. Since when did he even let his guard down around you? The mere fact that he allowed you to come near him is baffling, but he couldn't find the coherent thought as your touches brought him back to reality every single time.
While you busied yourself with thoughts of how and why, you saw a small bruise forming in his shoulder blade. Adepti are like gods in a way, right? And if Gods can bleed, Gods can die. Your concern for him grew. Even in autopilot, your hand reached for the salve in your small pouch latched onto your waist. Slowly, you applied it over his injury and you swore you heard his breath hitch. It wasn't enough to bring you back from your senselessness as you continue to aid him.
But for the adeptus, you were becoming unbearable. The way your fingers run through his body felt like ice and fire. He couldn't steady his breathing any longer. You were so close that he could catch the scent of vanilla and lavender on your person. Touch meant trust. You taught him that. And he trusts you so much that he was willing to let himself be vulnerable around you this moment. But does he trust himself to control whatever it is that's boiling inside him right now?
"Stop-" He gripped your wrist, resting his forehead on your shoulder after you had crouched down in front of him and was slowly applying salve over his chest, tracing what was once a deep gash. Now, you were aware. Aware of how his breath feels on your body. Ragged and hot. Suddenly, the temperature in the room began to rise and you finally read the mood.
"AH, UM WOW GEEZ ARCHONS I STILL HAVE TO GET THESE PARCHMENTS TO VERR!" Quickly you stood up, snatching a few parchment before hurriedly walking out of the room and saying bye to Xiao.
Suffice to say that you spent the whole afternoon being hyper aware of your actions that nothing else mattered.

You greeted Verr as you made your way to your room after a long day of work. Chasing around Hu Tao to keep her from getting into misunderstandings was a harder task than one might've thought, but lucky for you it included a decent paycheck.
You sighed deeply as you searched your bag for the key to your room. Upon opening it, you dropped everything on the floor and
closed the door behind you, stretching your sore back from a whole day of walking around.
Now having the desire to change out of your uniform and into a more comfortable piece of clothing, you walked towards the door of your bedroom. However, with every step you got closer towards the door, the sound of heavy breathing increased in
volume. You lived alone, that you were sure of, and so your eyebrows furrowed as you wondered why there was someone in your bedroom and how they got there. You put your right ear on the wooden door, hoping to recognize the sound, but you didn't. So your next course of action was grabbing the doorknob with your left hand and freeing the other one in order to summon your weapon in case it would've been necessary. The door creaked when you opened it, but not too loud.
The glim blue light blinded you at first, until you let your eyes adjust to it. It were beautifully designed tattoos that were giving off the light, which seemed to dim with every second. The tattoo's belonged to the back of an adeptus you knew all to well. You watched as the blue inked scenery moved up and down along with the heavy breathing, which came from him.
He must've heard you even though you hadn't made a sound, because he turned his head to look at you. His golden eyes were dull like he was an the verge of unconsciousness, and it was then that you noticed blood dripping from his mouth. "Xiao!", you called out as you hurried towards him. He had taken a seat on your bed and was in the act of removing his top. When you got to him he whispered your name quietly. It was clear he barely had the energy to say a word. You helped him remove his top as
it was stuck somewhere around his arms. "Sorry...", he muttered, "I didn't... know... where..." You stopped him from speaking another word as you held on to both his shoulders. "It's alright Xiao. I'm here. I'll take care of you", you spoke in order to calm him down.
Like he knew he was finally in good hands his dull eyes looked at you one more time before letting his head fall down on your shoulder, fully losing consciousness. His breathing calmed down, so you softly layed him down on your bed. His tattoo's had stopped glowing too, but the moonlight was enough to fully display the huge open wound he had around his lower abdomen.
You hurried to grab whatever form of cloths and bandages you could find from you kitchen. The first thing to do was to stop the wound from bleeding, so you pressed the freshly washed clothes onto the wound until they were practically drenched with the red liquid. Although stopping such a huge wound frome bleeding was no easy feat, thanks to your academic trip to Sumeru where you went to gather knowledge a few years back, you managed.
And if Xiao chose to come here of all places instead of a hospital, it meant he believed you could help him.
Either that or he didn't want anyone else to know...
Two days, one fever and a couple of fresh bandages later, you saw how his eyes fluttered before opening them completely.
Although he could physically die like any mortal, thanks to the adeptus blood in his veins his healing process was much shorter than that of a human.
"Welcome to the land of the living", you spoke softly, "If I had arrived any second later, I was ready to hand you over to the boss, you know?" He grunted as he closed his eyes again, turning his head away from where you were seated. You chuckled as this attitude indicated he was probably doing completely fine again.

you were confused, why was there an a adeptus and an swan in your booked room?, you ignored it and waited patiently.
the swan later left the room, but the adeptus didnt. you wanted to confront the adeptus to go out and discuss somewhere else. so you went into the room and saw the adeptus
changing.
he had scars that looked like they were new, and there were some greenish tattoos on his back.
you were heated, your checks were heating up and it had a very reddish hue. the adeptus was confused and disappeared for a second with a green flash.
you were flustered, and embarrassed. you saw a mighty adeptus CHANGING?
you stood there a few seconds, you then went to go take a shower and relaxed on the bed for hours.
it was nighttime, the room was a bit dark. luckily, the window was open so the moon flashed through the windows so there would be a bit light.
you went to sleep. the next day, you came downstairs prepared for commissions and saw the adeptus at the balcony. you wanted to apologise for walking in on him yesterday.
you tapped on him.
“hello?” Y/N greeted the adeptus.
the adeptus looked at you, he looked like he was bothered by a lousy person.
he growled, as an answer.
“jeez, are you really that moody?” Y/N teased the adeptus while having a little chuckle.
he looked like he was pissed off, so he disappeared out of thin air.
“wait !!” Y/N said
you didn’t get to apologise to him yet he’s already gone.
you wanted to know more about that adeptus so you try to ask the receptionist.
“oh? you already met him? his name is adeptus xiao. he doesn’t really talk to anybody, unless you hand him his favourite food. which is almond tofu, he sometimes stays here to view the place and study the view.”
you wanted to know more about xiao, so you bought some almond tofu for him.
after that, you did your commissions as fast as you could so you can see xiao at the balcony. you wanted to befriend him.
you took the elevator, and ran to the balcony. you didn’t really see xiao yet, but the atmosphere was peaceful, you now knew why xiao sometimes come here to study the view. well he does come here to often see if there’s demons but the view was still beautiful.
you waited for a couple of minutes and saw him. you waved at him and took a chunk of almond tofu and shoved it into his mouth. you were giggling, he was kinda startled but he ate the almond tofu peacefully.
he asked the mortal
“what do you want pathetic mortal.”
“nothing..” you said
he grunted.
“i know you want something. what do you need, i don’t want to waste my time.”
“i just want to be your friend, that’s all!” you said it in an exciting way and giggled
xiao didn’t want to be attached to humans, but this one was sure interesting.
“sooo.. are you gonna be my friend?” you asked
he looked at you and said no.
you were suprised, he just declined like it was nothing. you then whined to him so he could be your friend.
he still pretended he didn’t hear you, but of course he disappeared again. you wanted him to be your friend so you waited for the next day and did the same thing all over again. all of these days has been into a loop.. until he finally sinked in, he finally accepted being your friend.
“fine… ill be your friend, just don’t bother me anymore” he said
“yay !!!” you screamed in excitement. you went upstairs and went to sleep.
the next day, you remembered that today was the day where you continued your adventuring. you wanted to say goodbye to xiao, but he wasn’t there so you just left off. you thought of visiting here again and give him almond tofu again.
after walking and climbing tall mountains, you wanted to wash your hair. since it was dirty. luckily, you see a waterfall near there so you ran too it and drank the clear water and washed your hair and some stains from your clothing.
after you washed everything, you see a bunch of treasure hoarders surrounding you. they were about to attack you. you were wielding your sword.
after a few minutes, y/n was exhausted from the fight. y/n started to pass out, a few seconds later a green flash came and slashed all the treasure hoarders.
y/n woke up, and felt something was carrying them. y/n looked and saw xiao. xiao looked like he was panicking, he was rushing to wangshu inn. you wanted to tell him that your fine, but you felt weak.
you woke up again, and you were laying in bed you see someone beside you and it was of course xiao holding onto your hand.
you sit up, and hold his hands with both of your hands, he was crying and he brings you into a tight hug, his head was on your chest, you can feel his cold tears onto your body.
you calmed him down.

Your words were cut off once you opened the door and found him sitting on his bed, without a top on. Without meaning to, your eyes travelled down to his chest, admiring the light tattoos that seemed to glow in the dim room.
Xiao blinked at your figure as he hums, oblivious to your flustered state, he stands up and walks closer. "Y/N, you're back." He greets and stops right infront of you. He noticed you were holding a small bowl of ice and his eyes practically brightened but he remains composed. However, when he looks up at your face he sees you averting your eyes away from him with heavily tinted cheeks.
He suddenly felt concerned and tilted his head as a habit and he questioned, "Are you feeling well?"
This question took you out of your panicky mind as you cleared your throat, "I uh... Yeah. I brought you thick snow." You said handing him the bowl and he takes this with an unnoticeable smile. You stepped away from him immediately right after handing the bowl in and closing his own door at him.
Xiao ate with delight while you on the other side of the door tried to calm your internal crisis.
