While both have been known for being poster boys for 80s excess, both men outlasted a lot of their contemporaries and are still rockin’ and rollin’! I (unfortunately) was never able to see Axl in the 80s, but did witness Roth floating way above my head on a surfboard in a coliseum. The guy was all about performance, spectacle and comedy-while performing gymnastic feats. Such great times, but people now would have had to live it to ‘get’ it. I was fortunate to experience both
I met Sammy Hagar as a kid in the 80s in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. He was my Dad's neighbor. I had no idea who he was, but I spent an hour throwing a football back and forth with him in the condo pool :) Cool dude. I have tix to see him later this year. Would be nice to tell him that story in person.
I was just in Cabo last month. All I knew about Cabo was Sammy Hagar and Cabo Wabo Tequila! That place was fucking awesome! How close to the marina area did Sammy reside?

As a Guns - N- Roses fan, I have to point out that you missed some albums. Before Appetite, they had released an EP Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide(recorded live at either The Whiskey or The Rainbow or a combo of both). After Appetite they released G -N- R Lies. It had all the songs from Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide plus new acoustic recordings. Then Use Your Illusion 1&2, then The Spaghetti Incident. Just an fyi.

Speaking as someone who was there to witness it, to put it succinctly the 80s happened. It was a decade of nothing but excess and superficial overcompensation. Diamond Dave is one of the poster children of that 80s excess.
I suggest watching "Heavy Metal Parking Lot".....That was my 80s music. Just a fad.

9:15 The sound in the video becomes flat and distorted. Have heard this in several Joblo videos lately. A small section of the audio changes. Maybe by design. But I bring it up regardless. Since I can't understand why it would be a creative thing to edit in lower quality sound mid video. Hmm 🤔

I was never a fan of Van Halen, more in to harder heavy metal in the early 80s, but their videos were always pretty entertaining and I'd have to say David Lee Roth really was the ultimate frontman for any band
