Both were specialists who went on dominant championship runs because people couldnt figure them out. Once the code was cracked, they didnt have a plan B.

Strickland definitely did expose Izzy’s inability to defend against a good jab. Strickland might have the best jab in the UFC, but Izzy just seemed completely incapable of anticipating them.
Jab was landing because Adesanya's main defense is leaning or backing up not blocking or slipping. Sean kept him close to the fence so Adesanya didn't have the room he usually has to avoid strikes. On top of that Adesanya didn't have anything to ward off Strickland so Strickland had full control to pick the best moments to fire the jab. Adesanya's dealt with decent jabs before, but Strickland had the whole package to school him.
he just didn't come with the goods this time. he probably thought he could just freestyle it. got caught, came back for a round, but couldn't mount a convincing reversal. maybe he'll come better prepared next time, maybe he won't. maybe the division will shake totally different in a few months. who knows

Izzy was stopping Sean from having his interview while he congratulated him, Izzy even when he lost was making it all about himself rather than letting Sean have his moment. Wasn't nearly as bad as Joshua thank god, but had the same vibe

I'm still in shock of the way Sean beat him. He outfoxed him, he figured him out and Israel knows it and respects it. Now we have a big and very interesting rematch to look forward to. Very much so. This not someone got caught this is someone got figured out. If Israel can overcome that make adjustments and win back his belt it will be huge. If not, it probably means he's crested his peak and needs to decide what's next. A jump to light heavy doesn't seem like the right move to me but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
