    Great videos! I just bought the ftm400, and used APRS on a recent road trip. Planning on making use of APRS in the backcountry while elk hunting this year. I will definitely use crossband feature as well.

    Thank you for the video. I can hear my club’s net when on my HT but can’t reach repeater. Now I can. My FTM400 is in my truck

    Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I've tried this with my FTM-400XDR and a Yaesu FT-60r handheld. I can't get it to work.

    Outstanding video! Very detailed! I had seen in another video they mentioned unplugging the mic as it tends to be a hot mic in crossband repeat. Have you run across this issue?

    • @LCARAHAMRadio
      @LCARAHAMRadio  Před 2 lety

      Yes, they recommend unplugging the mike in that configuration. Thanks for watching!

    Not a lot of cbr going on these days. It’s a very useful tool

    Are there more budget friendly mobile type radios that can do this. Where can I find this information?

    • @LCARAHAMRadio
      @LCARAHAMRadio  Před 4 lety

      @baron1c - there are several radios out there that can do crossband, some older models still available gently used and new. The ICOM ID-2730 and the Kenwood TM-V71 for instance. Love this feature to extend my HT's range.

      LCARA HAMRadio thanks so much! That ICOM looks like real nice value too!

      Alinco DR735T was right at $300-$310 when I bought it a couple months ago. It does XBR and is a full duplex. No digital (except an Alinco digital upgrade that allows connections between Alinco radios). It is a really nice radio and the color options are limitless, custom colors for tx, rx, and standby for each common memory(1000) left memories(L100) right memories(R100) dual memories(DL100 DR100). Custom colors for program scans, vfo bands (including airband). Great sound @ 50W vhf and 50W uhf. custom mid power default 20W and low power @5W.
      Just a really well designed radio. I opted for the RT systems programming kit and it is worth it to master the the full functionality and color options. The display is beautiful and big and the radio is well built. Made in Malaysia like many of the Kenwood radios. It feels like operating two different radios with dual squelch, dual volume, and dual vfo. Can listen to both bands at the same time and can run different external speakers for each vfo/band. Can set different memories for left side and right side. Can also turn off one side and operate like a single band. Lots of setting apply to each side independently. Anyway, I love this radio for its simplicity(once you set it up) with great features.
      Also just got a handheld Wouxun kg9d Mate that does cross-band at 10Watts. That radio is a great deal with a big battery and it is a full duplex(receives sub band while transmitting on the main band).

      Hey Darren - you turn off the radio and do the same three finger button push when powering on. Thanks for question!
