I was in Bordeaux at that time : one used to say that these 3 guys were students in a business school and their final thesis was about how to earn money with a pop song. So, to illustrate their work, they did a song ... and it worked more than expected. In a way it's a serious experiment with unexpected consequences!

  • @jevousemmerdetouslesthunde2391

Wahouahhh Dereck!
Now you are ready to react on DEBUT DE SOIREE "Nuit De Folie" (Crazy Night) in 1988, a HUGE hit this summer! No.1 in Top 50. A "classic" too for us French people.
A song to party and dance all night long! You like it and squirm on it! 😅

Derrick, it's always such a pleasure to live your reactions!!! You nail it once again!! This song is just awesome sonically speaking, the arrangements are just so catchy and entertaining! However, as much as the lyrics may sound cheesy, it s hasn't been fully translated properly. Second point is that it totally reflects what probably happened to many of us on some days on a nigh that we were single and felt like meeting somebody interesting, or even better, when we meet that person. In my case, at a summer fair, I was single and totally not looking for anyone, just enjoying with my friends. Then I meet those brown eyes, literally stole very gently a kiss from here and I went away. Then I realized my mistake for leaving and went back, trying to find her! Then guess what song played at the fair, while I looked for her quite desperately!! That song! And all those words were just exactly describing my feelings! I very funnily accountered with her 2 weeks later in another town (same region), talked to her, exchanged numbers, but then that was it as she was leaving to study much further away. :)When I hear that song all my body reacts and vibrates!!lolol. Thank you!

Hi Dereck. Oh you reacted on Partenaire Particulier, a French new-wave band. HOLY🍌. You become more and more French thanks to us! 😄
No, we aren't joking! It's TRULY REAL! For us, it's a CLASSIC from 80's in France! It was a HUGE HIT at the time like IMAGES " Les Démons De Minuit". A song to party, dance in the niteclubs, students parties, weddings...
This flagship group from eighties just like the song has remained anchored in memories and to have left an indelible mark on its time!
Originally they are from Bordeaux but there is a Belgian man, the music binds them. Then later, they meet a third member from Toulouse.
It's the only group whose members leave and are replaced by others! To finally meet two later then one on several TV performances/sets and on 80's tours.
In 1985, they recorded this first title, taken from their first album "Jeux Interdits" (Forbidden Games) which broadcast on local and national radio stations. It quickly becomes a great success from March 1986 as unexpected as it is phenomenal, No.3 in Top 50 for 2 weeks.
At the beginning the song is a Gold disc after it sells for over 5 million copies becoming Platinum Disc! Never seen at the time, still today!
In the song the male singer is looking for a girl who isn't cold in the eyes like him sexually. 😅
At the time, it was the fashion for dating thru classified ads in newspapers or in Minitel (ancestor of the Internet).
The "follw up" is "Je N'Oublierai Jamais" (I'Ll Never Forget) in 1986, not as strong as the previous one, the some has come success. They mark the occasion with a noticed videoclip which will mark the timeand will be widely boradcast on the ephemeral musical channel TV6 (from 1986 to 1987).
    M/V link : czcams.com/video/UPyoMzk-rcc/video.html
End of 1986, they released their third single "Elle Est Partie" (She Left/She'S Gone) with a beautiful black and white music video worked like a short movie with newly weds in a church setting. It too will broadscat in a loop on TV6 channel contributing greatly to its success.
If you approved this memorable song, now you are ready to react on DEBUT DE SOIREE with their HUGE HIT "Nuit De Folie" (Crazy Night) in 1988, a SUMMER HIT to party and dance in the niteclubs all night long! It was No.1 for several weeks in Top 50. Like Partenaire Particulier it's a CLASSIC too! You'll like it I'm sure!

You know, one of my favorite memories ever comes from this song.
Me, my classmates and older people from the same school were coming back from a trip, it was running late, maybe 10pm, and we were all very tired.
Anyways, someone brought his speaker so we could listen to whatever everyone asked him to play.
At the end of the trip, it was almost pitch black and this song came.
Some like me didn't know all the words, but everyone had heard about it and could vibe to it.
So those who really liked it began to sing really loud and well, and we were quick to follow.
I learned the entire song on this occasion and had a blast in that great moment where nearly everyone in the bus came together to sing this, and even though its plot is still vague and nonexistent and everything, it will always be one of my favorite songs ever.

It's a song about looking for a good hookup. They described the kind of girl they are looking for. The correct translation would be an "unchained, open-minded and experienced partner". Partenaire particulier is a euphemism for sexual partner. The lyrics are direct but the tone is light. It's like boys dreaming about girls, fantasizing openly about them.
