Top 10 Suede Riffs

- This was requested to me ages ago, so I apologise for only getting around to it just now. I wasn't a fan of Suede at the time but I definitely am now. In fact, the inspiration for me wanting to get a Les Paul style guitar was from listening to the likes of Suede, T.Rex and Mick Ronson, so I could get that kind of sound. Though I'm still learning more about Suede, here are 10 riffs and songs that I really like. Feel free to suggest some more in the comments below!

I loved Suede in 1993 and still do today. It's incredible how they had one guitar genius leave the band, only to be replaced by another. Superb band.
Suede is my favorite band!👍
I want 10 Suede Riffs Part2🎸
yes! im a massive suede fan and it was such a joy to come across this vid today! stay together and the asphalt world are known to be suede's most pretentious and almost unforgivingly self-indulgent songs that go on (supposedly) way too long to accomodate butler's extensive solos. i adore them, don't listen to the articles. you should really check them out!
Suede has lots of cool riffs, and you just made them even cooler
Nice one! Big Suede fan and good to see them get represented! Reckon you could do a great job with a Manic Street Preachers or Placebo riffs video!
Simply amazing! Those guitar parts from Bernard Butler and Richard Oaks were like a voice. Memorable and tasteful. So classy and sexy in a time when heavy rock riffs got all the attention in the US. Thanks for that!
Great selection, your attention to detail is second to no other on CZcams. The Chemistry Between Us and The Wild Ones also have such good guitar playing.
Man, you bring impassionated memories of those days, when we believed. Thanks a lot.
Suede, best britpop ever, and also one of the greatest and most underrated. Second to none!...
Suede is one of the best underrated bands out there, and its so cool that you gave them some love with your wonderful takes on their amazing riffs!!
the words "suede" and "underrated" should never be in the same sentence. they were pretty damn rated.
Well look it's our friend bloxsy say hi bloxsy
Hi Bloxsy!
Hi!
@@danielktdoran damn Daniel sorry I triggered you
Hi bloxsy
Bro Daniel deleted his comment 💀
Filmstar has an interesting chord progression
Suede are an underrated band in general and their b-sides are underrated even amongst their fans. Glad to see you included Killing of A Flashboy. My Insatiable One is a great song with a gorgeous guitar riff that ranks among their best work.
Bernard Bulter is one of the most underrated guitar players ever!
Please do a Stay Together lesson
I have been waiting for this! Big Thank You!
Very useful, a great run through of some really creative guitar parts, inspiring.
Been waiting for a Suede video for ages. Love this man!!!
Thanks man. Glad you liked it.
I need to figure out some lessons. I have always loved the feel of Bernard and Richard's playing both, and would love to just be able to play around a neck and find riffs like that. It's not like shredding or even insanely complicated, but there's an understanding of chord structures, how to change them, and how to blend them into others, that I'm just not comprehending.
Great video! Definitely going to try playing some of these myself!😁👍
I actually didn't listen to Suede much in the 90s, but I've been listening to them a lot recently and kicking myself for not paying them more attention previously!
if you really want the Suede sound, a Gibson hollow-body is the way to go. Bernard used an ES-355, iirc. anyway, great selections-i used to have a theory that you could tell the songwriting form a band were in by the quality of their b-sides, and the fact that Killing of a Flashboy was a b-side really says something about how good Suede were at their peak
All the songs on their 1st album played on a les paul.
“So Young” sounds like a really dark, depressing, REM song ;)
The most lovely of all my favourites rock - bands, thank you very much !✨
Great song choices from a very underrated band!
Woah, this is awesome sounding!
Fantastic selection. Metal Mickey in particular is a work of genius.
Suede has got lots of great guitar riffs, either by Bernard Butler or Richard Oakes. As usual you pick a few (great) deep cuts as Killing on a Flashboy and This Hollywood Life. Lesser known singles as well, like We Are the Pigs, Saturday Night and Filmstar. Their latest album is the best since Coming Up imho
"Bloodsports" has my vote for that ,but "Autofiction" IS a needed change from conceptual albums. Bigsby vibrola wiggles are necessary for many of these trademark riffs
Britpop was such a cool period in time! :)
That first Suede album was really good… and this was another cool video.
Just found this now. Lovely stuff. It’s given me a few tips for the ones I never learned.
I'm not a big Suede fan but Animal Nitrate is one of my favourite riffs. I was was hoping you might extend it into the searing section when the vocals kick in. The guitar tone there is insane on the original.
Would love to see a video on Manic Street Preachers. Some of their early riffs are tasty asf
Esses riffs são demais... sempre inovando nos sons. Gostei muito... 🤩👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Niceee, this is what i wait in your channel 🎉
Another great guitar riffing snippet 👌
great job!! I love the Metal Mickey one, is amazing. Hello from Spain
you nailed the tone mate
Thanks mate.
Rifftastic! 💜
Suede's great!!! Thank you!
Amazing!!!
Truly gorgeous tone - how do you get such a great sound from these guitars?
You're taking me over.......🖤🖤🖤
Thank you for this! Great selection.
Minor detail: *Killing Of A Flash Boy
Super cool.
Really nice.
DUDE, please do Manic Street Preachers
Nice. Your use of the Les Paul for Butler & Jag for Oakes has been noted & appreciated. Now, challenge: Top 10 Suede _B-Side_ riffs - this is where it gets interesting.
Thank you. You'll have to let me know what your favourite b-sides are. I've heard people say they're some of their best songs. I like Insatiable One.
@@bloxsy_ The argument can be made that 1997's _Sci-Fi Lullabies_ is the best British album of the 1990s (Top 5, at least). Worth checking out. Some executable b-sides:
- To The Birds (BB - super easy)
- He's Dead (BB - also easy)
- My Insatiable One (BB)
- Whipsnade (BB)
- Modern Boys (BB)
- Every Monday Morning Comes (RO)
- Have You Ever Been This Low? (RO)
- Together (RO)
- Bentswood Boys (RO)
- Young Men (RO)
Other great tracks & riffs:
- Obsessions (RO)
- Rent [live] (RO)
- Let Go (RO)
- Wastelands (RO)
- Bored (RO)
- Beautiful Loser (RO)
- It Starts & Ends With You (RO)
- The Tears - Autograph (BB)
- The Tears - Refugees (BB)
Bernard Butler's late '90s albums are underrated & feature some his best guitar work. Check out:
- More Than You Thought
- You Just Know
- Has Your Mind Got Away?
- Stay
- Bye Bye
- Autograph
- People Move On
Wow, thanks mate. I've heard Sci-Fi Lullabies is great and I know one or two from that album. I'll have to check these out.
@@bloxsy_ Here are my favorite B-sides by Suede, in chronological order:
My insatiable one
To the birds
Where the pigs don't fly
Painted people
High Rising
Killing of a flash boy
Whipsnade
The Living dead
My dark star
This world needs a father
Asda Town
Europe is our playground (I prefer the Sci-Fi Lullabies version)
Every monday morning comes
Another no one
The Sound of the streets
This time
Great video. Love your tone. How do you get your distortion so crisp with the notes so articulate?
Can you make a full cover of a Suede song someday? Your so accurate
Brilliant.
Thank you for this. Could you do Status Quo riffs in the future?
Love it! Possibly consider top 10 Jesus Lizard riffs. Duane Denison is such an underrated and creative guitarist.
Would like to see The Beach Boys riffs and Elvis Costello riffs
Great
You have really nice guitars
you should do 10 kent riffs! very good swedish rock band
Placebo riffs please
This!
10 Manic Street Preachers riffs
Nice vid! Can you do Thin Lizzy as well though? I mean, they are super underrated. In fact, I even have a list idea for this:
- The Rocker
- Whiskey In the Jar
- Sha La La
- Fighting My Way Back
- Spirit Slips Away
- Cowboy Song
- The Boys Are Back In Town/Jailbreak
- Johnny The Fox Meets Jimmy The Weed/Fools Gold
- Do Anything You Want To
- Chinatown
Thanks. I’ll check these out
No problem, man 👍
In fact, it was actually hard to choose from them cuz there are so many good songs from them
Great skills.. But also shows you what a genius butler is... Especially on so young. Very difficult to play that at his standard.
Saturday night riff 👌
Hope you do some for those lesser known bands at that time like the manic street preachers or kula shaker
Dude I always love your fucking tone man
Still Life , i'd love to hear you play that
bloxsy you've couple nice axes, how do you compare the les paul in general to them?, which is one is one of your all time favourites? great covers pal
Thanks mate. I appreciate it. To be honest, I still haven't found a guitar that I really like yet. Must be something wrong with me. This V100 (les Paul) is nice though, has a nice full sound to it.
@@bloxsy_ Haha nothing wrong with you, we are all on the mythical search for "the one". I personally prefered the fender's sound on your chanell, and the sg that you got there. Les paul looks cool though, but hate the weight for a long term use! cheers
The Fenders do sound brighter. I still like my Cyclone. The SG doesn't stay in tune. Cheers!
Hey Bloxey, I'm watching Eastenders (don't ask) and the good old Vic was play the Manics. (I think you did the Manics before) if not what about doing some Manics best riffs. 😉
Should've included Moving. Such a master riff. Otherwise great selection!
Thanks! I haven’t heard that one but I’ll check it out
Great video but I can’t believe Lazy wasn’t included.
Please make a video tutorial Beautiful ones(suede) and Tab🙏🙏🙏
Top 10 ghost riffs please 🥺❤️
I've never heard of that but will check it out.
Narrow Head riff plssssss
Hoje eles lançaram a "moments of clarity"
I play guitar because of these riffs
Yeeeeesssss!
Ah yeah
Top 10 Ween riffs!!! Please!!!
Recommendations of songs?
@@bloxsy_ I’d choose Freedom of 76’, You Fucked Up, Push Th’ Little Daisies and The Argus just to name a few. The choice yours
1:35 - I often have trouble doing ‘A’ shaped Barré chords & Usually do an ‘A minus’ shape when it comes to Power Chords.
IS this what you’re doing a minute & a half into this video?
IF so I don’t feel so bad about my antics, Bloxsy!!
In this section it's just basic three finger power chords that I'm playing. No major or minor notes. My middle finger is just hovering above the strings not doing anything.
@@bloxsy_ AH!👍
🤘🤘🤘🤘
What about Starcrazy?
I've never heard of this band before
Guns N Roses best 10 riffs on les paul please!
Red Bloxsy!!
What pedal are you using??
I'm using a Boss Katana
@@bloxsy_ Jesus Christ it sounds so amazingly close! You HAVE to do a tone tutorial or demo. I've never heard anyone get sounds this incredible. You're the best!
Fugazi next ?
Oh I was thinking of doing a Post-Hardcore riffs vid. Maybe Fugazi also.
@@bloxsy_ sound great. Thanks for all your contents
Animal nitrate is in standard tune?
Eb.
@@bloxsy_ thanks
Beautiful Ones should have been #1
Lazy, Electricity and Moving could be the next list
👏
Like deployed 👍
Bruh where is the wild ones
Suede, aka "The band the brother of that TV host plays bass in"
ñ
Some of these look a bastard to play
1:08 been a son Nirvana
FIRST!
The Butler riffs are infinitely superior to anything after his tenure.
Suede cool band!
Bro do you have a tab for beautiful ones?
