RHCP has a USP of making tracks in which instruments do not subdue sound of others. You can hear the base drums guitar distinctively.

I dont think its john technical ability that grant him all the praise. Rather I think its because of feel and his playing. He is using the guitar as a vessel to communicate and his melodic phrasing is wonderful. that is why hes a great player. Then again the topic of discussion is entirely subjective.
Id be curious to learn a few other players you feel are overrated.
RHCP is a body.
Anthony is the face.
Chad is the pulse.
Flea is the backbone.
John is the soul.

The intro riff is quite simple but what makes it difficult to play is Johns magic of string muting which is a extremely difficult technique to master

The kids that came to this show, after they grow up will be like my father took me to one of rhcp's concert when I was 10 and I fell in love with their band and since then I always played their song wherever I go.....
I had the blessing of playing for a couple of thousands in my home town and felt like I was at the top of the world. Since that day live my life searching for that magic conection through music. Watching this guys play in front of that crowd gives me goosebumps. They must be feeling exactly the same. There's no past, no future. Just the moment

Love the way they werre just riffing off each other before AK pounced onto the stage. So comfortabe with each other they know where it's going before it even goes there. Totally professional with such flair & enthuiasm. Glad JF is back, as good as JK was filling in for those years in between. THIS is the proper RHCP line up.

I love that when you go to a chili peppers show there's 40 minutes of actual songs and 3 and a half hours of Flea, John, and Chad just jammin.
Im pretty sure 90% of ppl cant even hear the bassline apart from the slapping parts, its just fucking mindblowing, flea is a fucking music treasure, and the whole band is unique, every single one of them adds a unique special style into the mix, and that makes the red hot the most unique band ever known to mankind

I like how they pay close attention to John's harmony vocals in this video. His singing adds so much to the song but you may not even notice it if they didn't show him on camera. It's amazing that he can hold his rhythm on the guitar and sing those parts so clearly.
Whenever I see a quiet crowd, I don't think they're bored of the performance. I think of it as they're so mesmerized from the sweet guitar playing that they just stand there in awe.
