- Join us as we check out the Christmas offering at the beautiful Efteling theme park in the Netherlands
This is the second we have been to Efteling now so we check out some of the rides and attractions we didn’t on our last with with friends Tom and Stacy
We love Efteling and can’t wait to go back again as the park is so big and busy we still missed out a few things but still had a great time and definitely a place to visit during Christmas
Vlog and povs are all filmed in HD 1080p 60fps using a GoPro Hero Session 4 and official accessories.......next vlog is from Phantasialand
Some context for Spookslot:
It’s the oldest “ride” of the park, where the park was basicly only the fairytale forest. As a result it has the same sort of experience as the fairytale forest, where its a stand-and-watch kind of thing. The “story” of the ride is the Eftelings adaptation of the story behind the Danse Macabre, the orchestral piece you hear playing in there. The Danse Macabre tells the story of the dead coming alive to dance in the night only to go back to sleep when dawn breaks. The added Efteling story is that of a witch who haunted the castle after she was hung for being a witch. The janitor who found her hangs from the clocktower, the judges who condemned here sit on top of the castle, the lord and his daughter can be seen on eigher sides of the slot, and the witch can be seen burning to death. For the time it was made it really was a masterpiece, but it hasnt aged all that well. The little details in there are hard to appreciate if you dont know the story behind it either, which is unfortunate.
Also for the PandaDroom, it was buildt in 2002, when 3D technology was still really new and back then it was really special. It has never been updated since though, and as a result 15 years later its really horrible outdated.
A great vlog and loved footage of parks at night especially this park. Made me feel so cold watching this great vlog. Thanks to Andy and Lisa for braving the weather

I'm Dutch, been to the Efteling a zillion times and seen just about as much vlogs/reviews on it,
yours are, imo the best and in any case the most enjoyable to watch, informative and with a nice laid back vibe to it.
PS: the Efteling is the best and most pretty theme park I ever been to or know of, wonder what's your nr.1.
One of my favourite parts of the Efteling which I have been going to every year is the music and theming of the rides it makes you feel exactly like you are there in real life it’s just a magical place and I’m really glad you visited my all time favourite place!

Don't go during school hollidays. I live about 8 Miles from the Efteling and know how busy it can be. Nice you like the park.
The problem is that you keep coming on the most busy days. You will enjoy the park much more when its not busy and have all te the time to do everything without waiting long. You keep saying you did not expect it was so busy but wat do you expect if you keep coming on school holidays...
Niels van Hoef we will be coming back again in quite season but I looked into it and Efteling is the 3rd busiest theme park in Europe after Disneyland Paris and Europa Park and saying what do you expect coming in school break time well we have been to Toverland today and it was busy but still managed 16 rides on Troy 👍🏻👍🏻
Coaster Crazy just like you said its the 3rd busiest park in Europe so you wont get away with that like in Toverland...
Coaster Crazy weekdays in september-november everything is almost always walk on. Just try to avoid school holidays and the weekend and you'll be fine.

Amazing vlog again...love your honesty and views....and seeing you falling in love with the park in the end, after being dissapointed with some of the rides at the start of your journey....sorry that you picked another hectic day at Efteling...hopefully you will have a more relaxed day next time you visit...I know that can make the experience much better...and hopefully Efteling will install a hugh thrill coaster in 2020... ;) keep doing what you do and explore the parks !

Gypsymuffin a lot of UK parks close for annual maintenance during winter
Pandadroom is outdated indeed. The attraction has been gaining a lot of critiques since it opened. Firstly, the theme of the film is not fitting in general, secondly, the large green box in which it is in, is poorly decorated - it looks like a bunker and thirdly and most important - it is not original. The same movie in the same setting is being showed in Hansa Park, Northern Germany. Lacking originality is a disgrace for an Efteling attraction.

Coaster Crazy Yes. Totally. However it is not on the planning. A strip of land between Vogelrok and Python will be developed first: rumours say that it includes a mega coaster up to 50m.
Go during Easter holiday for uk because Holland is at school so only school kids will be there and forengirs
If you ever want to go i advise to go nog in kids vacation and than on a teusday , in juli and in Christmas break iT is crazy busy 😂
How did you made that onrides in the rollercoasters? It's stricktly forbidden in the Efteling. If they see you filming with a selfie stick you're in trouble. I asked them for permission to film the coasters with a GoPro in harness, but they didn't even allow that.
Pretparknostalgie I don’t use a selfie stick and I hide my GoPro in my pocket !
Thanks for the answer. I once filmed some coasters with the GoPro in harness which I hide under my jacket. After passing the camera on top of the lifthill I opened it and before return to the station I closed it :D
Pretparknostalgie yeah that’s what most CZcamsrs do to get there povs ! If I’m wearing shorts in put my GoPro in my pocket !
I am Dutch and no mather how much I love the Efteling, I have to say you are right. The Efteling needs to get his shit together and fix the 3D of the Pandadroom! It really is bad.

You keep mentioning 8 o'clock... You do know the park stayed open till 9 that day because of the crowds right? They announced it at around 2.
thejussie 95 omg I had no idea it was open till 9pm !! I was wondering why Pagode was still running at 8:30 lol
When it's really really busy they often keep the park open for an extra hour. There should have been signs near the entrance saying it stayed open till 9, but when you guys were close to the entrance it was dark so that's maybe why you missed them. They also changed 20.00 to 21.00 in the app and on the waiting and show time signs throughout the park. Too bad you guys had no idea, I think I saw Vogel Rok on a 5-10 minute queue at around 8.30.

Great vid from my favorite theme park. Glad you also had some critique instead of the generic "omg everything is AMAZING" videos. Made it more sincere. Gotta say tho.... you made 2 hour long video's and you manage to miss the actual original Efteling. Did you realise it opened in 1952 before Disneyland? It has grown bit by bit over the years and alot of it is true theme park history. So yeah, such a shame you missed the Sprookjesbos because it is the foundation of the whole park and the most important source for all the theming. Hope you visit again someday and prepare a little better. If your vlogging and have no kids with you school holidays are the worst time to visit and i recommend reading up a bit so you can comment a bit more in depht. Not being an ass, just a thought to bring your content to the next level. Keep it up!
Sander Lunenborg hi there and thank you for the comments, unfortunately due to time and size of the Efteling we concentrated on the coasters and major rides in a full day, we did how know it was going to be a bit busy due to it being in the Christmas holidays and that also this was the only time we could visit ! Next time we go we will definitely check out the Magical Forrest area and other attractions we missed out
That would be great! The fairytales are also explained in English to put them into context and it's a more laid back "walk through the park" type experience.

Even tho it was a busy day during school holidays you managed to get some on some rides and good footage. What a wierd place with some great attractions and rides.
Peter Wray we got on plenty of rides just wish we had time to do the fairy gardens and a couple more rides !! We will be definitely going back again as we love it here in the Netherlands

Coaster Crazy, we did used to have a park called Louden castle, but it sadly got abandoned, and I think that was owned by the cadona crew, it was slightly better than m&d's, I remember the old m&d's, it was far better, I bet they could improve the place if they really wanted to, I just think they are being lazy, I'm already booked into the big blue hotel for the end of may, and really looking forward to it, and heading for Icon as my first ride, I enjoy watching your vlogs, especially when your in the UK or doing fair grounds, I quite fancy doing the hoppings after Blackpool 🙂

Why didn't you stay in the Efteling hotel?

You can get good last-minute deals through a link on their site . Not everything will be available ofc during holidays but still worth checking out. Also a new resort area opened last year so there is alot of choice. Theming is great, and you get early access and the Hotel has a special back entrance. So all in all, if you can get a last minute deal, totally worth it.
Sander Lunenborg we stayed in a 4star hotel only 20mins drive away 4 nights was £230 for both of us and it was an incredible hotel with breakfast and parking included
That does sound like a good deal! If you plan on spending 2 days at the Efteling spending the night there is still a good option because the one night hotel comes with park tickets for 2 days. Sure its not a "budget" accomodation but compared with Disney Hotels its at least not a blatant ripoff.
About 300 euro per night for 2 persons, including breakfast and tickets for 2 days to the efteling park. 38 per tickets would be 4 x 38= +-150 euro worth of tickets for 2 days and 150 for a night in the efteling hotel. Obviously you can get much cheaper hotels and choose to go only the 1 day to the efteling.
