Bob is my hero. I am lucky enough to say that I have met the man and he was so nice talking to me about his past and what he had planned for the future. A true sports legend may he live forever.

I know absolutely nothing about fishing but I came here having read about the Sportsman Of The Year award that he was deprived of. What a wonderful guy! I would say he deserves every award going, on the strength of his quiet passion and personality alone (two things which seem largely absent from modern sports nowadays).

Kevin Ashurst was my idol as a lad too...us youngsters would gather behind him on matches on the canal at Leigh and watch him scratch a win with a pound of finger sized roach. We thought he had some devine power lol 😆
