  • Melbourne University Computing and IT Lecturer Suelette Dreyfus says CrowdStrike’s outage shows “how easily” Australia’s tech systems can be brought down.
“It’s just given a really good indication - and this wasn’t even an attack - how easily our systems can be brought down if we’re not careful,” she told Sky News Australia.
On Friday, operations at some of Australia’s biggest companies were thrown into chaos for hours from an update which was rolled out by CrowdStrike which instead resulted in an IT blackout.

Neither is Microsoft or any of their services. Move all tills to Linux or MAC. They are 100% immune to this event - NO till running Linux or MAC-OS ANYWHERE in the world was affected by this. This was a Microsoft Windoze vulnerability, that the CS software was able to exploit. All data suggests that this was indeed just an accident, but IMAGINE if this was done on a malicious scale....
MOVE YOUR TILLS TO LINUX OR MAC!!!!

Crowdstroke: when you allow someone ("a crowd") to auto install software ("updates") on your computer. Such a decision means you do not care about your system's security, you rather prefer a stranger to take care. Like it's not really important for you.

Microsoft does the same starting with Windows 10. Before, you could always look up what was in every component of an update and decide whether you wanted to install it or not, or if you wanted to install only selected parts. Starting with Windows 10 they removed that and now updates are forced on you - the only thing you can control is what time you want the update to be installed. This CrowdStrike debacle didn't just show how easily Australia's systems could be brought down, it showed how easily the most important systems used by modern society could be brought down globally. This showed what major players use CrowdStrike and put a huge target on CrowdStrike's back. Now really bad actor hackers - especially ones working for enemy governments - are going to be trying to get into all of CrowdStrike's code to see what future damage they could do.

people who were living back before digital technology are more feel save with their personal data privacy . Every things and every company, banks have their own IT systems so not use one giant IT company to control and manage their system and data.
