I use saw dust to make my own ground covers and foliage. It's easy to color and dry, and it saves me hundreds of dollars.

Speaking of saving money, I’ve possibly saved thousands because my grandfather and I were building a railroad layout and it is almost complete just scenery now. There are still hundreds of tracks and scenery detail so... I could expand and possibly make my own layout with the remainders! Exciting times aha!

This is a great video, I have been wanting to learn how to build dioramas and this is the best so far that I have found on how to do things. How much does your stuff cost and how big of a bag?

You can get a "learning kit" with little bags of stuff from WoodlandScenics for about $20, and Elmers Glue is about $2

I suggest you try it on some scrap. Do NOT put it on your scene until you know it works..... Which it might.

Instead of Elmers try Mod Podge Matte.

I'll Stuff your Duff, so long as you throw-in a complimentary BJ. Bullying aside....using "compost from your garden" on your layout, will emit a smell, and break-down organic compounds such as casein glue! Relatively good technique. Dirt poor execution.
