    I used to live on Clinton Creek from 1969 to 1973. Got married there and had both my kids in Clinton Creek. Walked on that bridge, oh the memories. 😊

    Why this area I abandoned?

    • @masvas1
      @masvas1 Před 3 lety

      It's abandoned because the mine shut down. When a mine gets shut down, then the town closes, people move away, and often the houses get moved out, and trees are replanted. Nature takes over. In this case, Clinton Creek existed because of asbestos, same as another town that existed in northern British Columbia called Cassiar. Asbestos fell out of economic favor when health issues were discovered. People were dying of cancer. So good bye asbestos, and good bye mines.

      Did a little research on Clinton Creek, it specifically was an Asbestos mining town. Their waste-rock dump failed and dumped millions of tons of waste rock and trailings (including asbestos) into the surrounding area. Today, exploration is prohibited because it is physically unsafe to enter the area due to the potential airborne asbestos particles.

      @@chaincyclist2736 excellent research. This all must've happened after the mine closed down. It was actually a beautiful place for the short time that it was there. I grew up there for 3 years as a kid. It's a long long time ago, more like a blurry memory.
