During the final arc of the clone wars Rex is promoted to commander and leads the 332nd while Appo is promoted to commander of the 501st. He “dies” in the eye of the empire, and therefore never officially loses his promotion. That being said had Jesse survived he was going to make sure he was demoted as he said to Rex during the episode, but he died in the crash.

Frankly, those are the ones I’d want first.. granted I was into those clones way before there was ever a Rex.. back in my day he was Alpha!

Cod piece wise, the cod piece on the andor sculpt is also attached to the belt, but is glued in place, why they haven't done this on rex is any ones guess, but I'll be cutting it off the belt and glueing it in place and changing the animated belt for a realistic screen accurate one. On the loose pauldrons (arc troopers and Howzer are the same) I used a couple of tiny blobs of hot glue to fix them in place, it doesn't harm the figure and is removable if you change your mind. Despite it's minor flaws, I can't wait to get mine, I'll have 3, one as is, albeit with realistic belt and modified cod piece, another without pauldron as he is in S3 of the bad batch, and one for a custom "old rex". Nice review as always Tim 👍🏻

There are a couple of interesting theories about the tally marks on Rex’s armor. Rex claims he never kept record of how many droids he shot, he claims he shot tens of thousands at least. Now if thats true there would be many more tally marks adorning his armor. Now there are 3 popular theories all are equally believable depending on what you want to believe. 1. The tally marks represent the count of successful missions that Rex and the 501st were involved in. 2. High-priority targets or advanced units Rex eliminated. 3. This one might be the saddest of the theories but the tally marks could represent Rex’s fallen clone brothers and thus is Rex’s way of paying tribute to them.
Got mine like 2-3 weeks ago, been waiting for this review. Such a great figure. So happy to have him. Had to preorder another to keep on card
The belt is retooled from poncho rex with added new clone styled cod piece. That socket on his crotch is where the cod piece is glued and plugged into on the new clone body. Boy... do I miss having a separate belt, since removing the new belt is a pain in the ass.
While this belt is inaccurate for realistic, being cartoon based, you could always glue it down so it at least lays more correctly.
Rex looks so good, got 3 in my Pile of Loot on BBTS waiting to ship out. Now if we could get some dedicated 501st and 332nd trooper packs to build a proper army for him to lead. Now with this definitive mold, Cody is gonna be my next NEED, c'mon @Hasbro 🤞
Thanks for the review, I mentioned I would glue the cod-piece on MAKMCSWF's review (maybe use some of that multi purpose glue that can be peeled off fairly easily).
I wouldve loved to see a Phase 1 option (Similarly to both Fordos) with this figure. But with the 'Commander Rex' title shows that Hasbro _can_ find loop holes to update figures in TVC, but they didnt act on it for the new Jango and packed him as a "Deluxe". Great vid as always BB
Great review Bossk, I appreciate your positivity. In my opinion we still don’t have a definitive Rex I hope in the future we get one with an accurate belt and (can’t believe it’s come to this…) cod piece lol.
The belt it’s from the old arc troopers that’s why it look like that instead of using the andor belt mold that has the codpiece glued and just retooling adding the holsters
Tim, you have to slide the edges of the Kama through the clip tabs on the sides of the cod piece. In the video yours are not fed through so it pops off of the body.
The definitive clones I would like to see is phase 1 style clones without removable helmets from season 2 landing at point rain and weapons factory, plus give all clones backpacks and the types of weapons used in the episodes.

Looks like the codpiece is like that so you can thread the kama into the grooves on it and make it hang better?
Would probably look better with glue.
The cod piece is separate because it's top corners are meant to keep the kama in place. It's different from the other clones as it has the blaster holders and missing pockets. That's why it doesn't have the peg that would fit in that hole. (Most likely a production issue or my theory is they left it unglued so that buyers can adjust it when necessary.
The description on Hasbro Pulse says that it has a removable helmet. Not sure why they changed it
because we all complained about removable helmets.
Now we have these new moulds, I'd love to see a New commander bly, maybe with a 327th four pack👃

I was pretty down on this figure when I saw Kiwi Man's video and the floating crotch, and the helmet looked too small to me, almost not better than the TBS 3.75 one. But since then I've gotten him in hand and those minor problems melted away, or I was able to smooth over them. I glued down the crotch piece and also glued the pauldron in place cuz I don't see a reason to ever take it off. I'm also gonna display him permenantly with his helmet off so it being too small isn't a problem, but also the headsculpt is so brilliant that I don't think I'd want to hide it anyway. This seriously must be the best Clone likeness we've ever gotten. And even if the stripe on the kama is faint, I'm extremely glad it's there cuz when details like that are missed it drives me crazy. It looks like they got every detail right on this figure other than those production errors so I'm willing to call this the ultimate Rex!
Hasbro, more like this, please. Get a move on with pumping out Clones. I hope we get a few Commanders on this new sculpt next year for ROTS20, and their battalions in 4-packs. Starting with Bly and the Star Corps.

@@BossksBountyjust a thought you could detach the codpiece from the belt (it shouldn’t be attached anyway) and then glue it to the crotch of the figure. Might look a bit better that way.
His shoulder pauldon is def over sized lol. Great video BB, i plan to take the shoulder pauldon off a older Rex figure. Should work better, i think
I believe in the season 7 of the clone wars he was given rank of commander so Ashoka could lend the attack on mandalore.
How many Rexes do we need to buy to get the definitive version, Hasbro? That is a real nice head sculpt.
I feel like the helmet is every so slightly too small. I would've preferred the removable helmets we've gotten on the Andor sculpt
Yeah something is wrong with your copy in the crotch area.
The cloth is supposed to fit over the cod piece between the notches under the belt.

Rex was promoted to Clone Commander prior to the Siege of Mandalore so he could lead the 332nd division in the absence of a Jedi Commander as Ahsoka was technically a civilian.
Too me it will always be captain. Great video as always can't wait to get him pre ordered 2 of them.

Looks like an awesome figure. My only critiques would be the cod piece, thats weird af. & honestly the helmet doesn't look 100% imo. It's good, but I feel like the T-Visor is slightly too large, other than that though it looks brilliant

i’m really glad we have a definitive Rex now but why is there ALWAYS an issue with getting him just right? that cod piece is going to be mad annoying. hopefully they realize the mistake, or we can pester them lol, and fix that before more of the Rex’s ship out to everyone.
unless he's just right, he's not actually definitive. people hand out that word way too loosely.
Call me crazy but I think the new helmet looks undersized. Hopefully I will have mine in hand before too long. I would be tempted to glue the paldron in place or pin it somehow.
Hmm...if this is supposed to be a realistic take on him. The visor is too big. Other than that, its pretty good.
I love this Rex but I hate the swappable heads and the helmet is still too small.
the belt doesn't seem like the right belt, does it? is this reuse from some previous figure? if not, why? also, i liked the arms with the kill markers or whatever on the bad batch 4 pack version. i may try the black series pauldron on the new one because i don't think it had that wobbly problem.
I have no idea what was going through the TVC team’s mind with that codpiece, why attach it to the belt in the first place? What is that hole for on his crotch anyway? Did you give him a new set of hips, if so why? The hips on the new clone mold were fine as is why change it?

Definitely the best official 3.75'' Rex so far but why the odd design choices, no weathering or realistic details? IMO we need to petition Hasbro to do their homework and get the Clones more accurate & realistic like VC Stormtroopers. Whilst they've slowly definitely improved! My take from what I can see is that whoever in Hasbro is making these Clone figures don't know much about them or care they've just looked at the animated image and copied it onto the new mold without paying attention to all the details thinking about realistic style or even fixing the illogical things like the tiny pistols, loose pauldrons, strange codpiece. They never get them spot on something is always wrong, inaccurate or inconsistent. If it isn't colour it's height or they mix animated parts with live action which is inaccurate to realistic when TVC is supposed to be fully realistic. If you want to see how clones should really look people customizing on Instagram know what they are talking about! I see brilliant quality clone customs on there all the time, if you've seen them you know what I mean!

I’m pretty sure the imperial/republic navy revolves around the same structure as the navy in the United States.
His title of captain would be the highest rank if so. If he was commander, he would’ve been demoted.
All other aspects of the US military, commander is higher than captain.
So I’m pretty sure hasbro just messed up…wasn’t he still “captain” Rex in bad batch?
I got mine today. The cod piece on mine sits flat. Looks like yours is just sitting wrong. Like someone else said, looks the Kama on yours isn’t through the cod piece like it should be
Definitely an awkward design for the cod piece. I'm probably gonna slice off the piece when I get mine in and just glue it directly into the figure
Glad I read through the comments, this is prob the best approach. The connection to the belt looks odd so cutting it off makes sense
@@anepicpie ya I'm sure they did it to hide the area where the kama is connected but it just looks weird. Seems they are avoiding using glue maybe to save money or something 🤷🏻♂️ who knows how it all prices out. So they went for a friction hold instead and the belt itself wouldn't cover the the kama perhaps? I think I'm gonna snip off the cod piece and do what I need to to make it all look good and then glue the belt and kama all down to the waist. The kama should be draping over the edges of the cod piece anyways. Hey will be a fun little project he always needs some serious weathering to boot

Wish they would have given us a new character instead of this, oh well. The fact that the pauldron isn’t perfect and people are calling it definitive makes me sad.
Definitive as in it’s a good representation of the character. The fact the pauldron wobbles a bit won’t take away from how it looks on my shelf.

I hate how the loudest voices ruined removable helmets. It almost ruins the line for me. Not even looking forward to this one anymore. He would have been fine with removable helmet.
To be fair, at first people didn’t request non removable helmets. They requested in scale removable helmets. Because Hasbro couldn’t achieve this (new phase 2 clone, Sabine Wren) they decided to go with swappable - even before the complaints they did this (Bo Katan). So rather than finding a way to sort it they opted for swappable. And I much prefer how Bo Katan looks than Sabine Wren.
* YAWN * yet another clone trooper. Hasbro won't stop recycling the same old stuff. Seriously, how many clones do we need? it's ridiculous.
