  • I'm not surprised that Ryu won 2 mayor CPT events and in this video I'm gonna show you why I think he works well at the highest of levels, dispite him not having the cheap get in moves. It's basically expanding on the full (but basic) guide for Ryu that I did on day 1 of SF6.
    00:00 Intro
    00:37 Fireball Traps
    02:07 HIGH Damage
    03:34 Space Traps
    04:11 Great Buttons
    04:30 In Game Examples
    06:02 Outro
    Thumbs up if you enjoy the content and sub for more! Thx for watching,

      @@iZonkGaming2021 Hey iZonk, is Ryu a good alternative to Cody you think? I’m barely picking up SF6 and I loved Cody so much in SFV I’m disappointed he’s not in 6. Or what characters do in your opinion feel like Cody the most (if any)?

    Ryu may not have as many tools like Ken & Luke, but his damage input definitely makes up for it.

    This is a really helpful guide to show some of Ryu’s strengths! I’ve been watching lots of other vids from other people to see what they typically try to do for combos, but it’s also helpful to have someone showcase his tools more clearly like the fireball trap distance and how crouching mK is good for catching players.

    I main Ryu, I have a lot of fun with him, and the things you showed off in this video are definitive Ryu tech, but in comparisson to most other characters, especially Ken, he is lacking. His denjin is not a good win condition tool if he basically cant get it off reliably without sacrificing oki. Also his light hashogeki is punisheable on block which really sucks. His corner carry is decent, but not more than that. He's a solid character, no one would argue that, but why play him when Ken is better? (aside from just liking him more, thats the reason I play him) Ryu is a character where the player is the one making him shine.

    I have a love/hate relationship with Ryu as the first character I’ve ever mained (new to SF with 6) yeah he does a metric ton of damage but your fundamentals have to be rock solid at all times as his deficiencies are always looming. Eats drive gauge like a hummer drinks gas! His normals are slower than most of the usual suspects so you’re constantly being put on defense by faster opponents being aggressive. I know I still have a LOT to learn but man I feel like I’m in the hyperbolic time chamber with Ryu 💀

    Been enjoying your vids. Keep them up! Would love to see a cammy guide. One small bit of feedback. The font you use in your guides could do with an outline or dropshadow to improve readability. I'm visually impaired and the contrast isn't the best on them. A different font with a bit of a dropshadow or outline would help a lot.
    Thanks again!

    • @iZonkGaming2021
      @iZonkGaming2021  Před 9 měsíci

      Ah thx I appreciatie it. So about the font; i used to just put text into the video from the video editor, but those are all very hard to read because the back ground (which is gameplay 99% of the time) moves and changes colors non stop. Thats why I am now putting my text against a black back ground in Canva and copy pasting that into my video as an image. I really don’t know how to make it better than this. I could try changing fonts offcourse but thats about it unfortunately. The ever changing background makes it hard to find a great solution

      @TheJexy13 Před 9 měsíci

      @@iZonkGaming2021 Hey, thanks for replying. Yeah I'm just watching the Ken guide and can see they're now on a black background which helps a lot. I think what I'd seen was the Ryu guide? I think changing the font isn't a bad idea but what you've done with the Ken guide is definitely much easier to read.
      Great guides and good content though. Keep it up :)

      Haha yea that was sweet. If you chain 3 lights and then do light kick, you are perfectly spaced for a Medium blade kick that is very difficult to deal with.
      Heres the thing with ryu though. I have to set it up and then react to their reaction. High skill. Meanwhile, with Ken i can do dragon lash and im immediately in a strike/throw mixup. I guess thats the difference between these 2. Ryu has to work harder (but does do more damage when it works out)

      @iZonkGaming2021 it made me have a "aaahhh. I understand now" moment. I've become much better from watching your vids. As a struggling Ryu main, beating Ken is always my top priority...I always have plan until I get Jinrai'd or Dragon lashed by Ken lol

      @heavymammal haha nice!! About jinrei: they use it after mp+hp target combo is blocked and after cr mk. If you see them use one of those buttons, think about jinrei. If they actually do it, you do ex dp after the first hit of jinrei. The ex dp will ALWAYS punish it. Jinrei can not be used on block against Ryu

      Oh but thats fine, there are many master ranked shoto players who cant consistently use their shoryuken. If you can, it does have tje benefit of being able to drive rush into overhead auto timed and you kinda need the invincibility for dive kicks other than that, chp will work, you can hit master without a dp

    • @iZonkGaming2021
      @iZonkGaming2021  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Mm yea, but i dislike how light and medium are punishable on block, they should make light hasho have a bit more pushback or make it -3 instead of -4. The medium for juggles, the heavy for plus frames, would be cool. Just 1 more frame or block stun on light please

      @@iZonkGaming2021 I agree, there are some minor changes that will put Ryu in a better position. If we talk about buffs I would personally like to be able to stock Denjin Charges, I mean... Juri can, Lily can, Manon can...

    • @i.ftekhar
      @i.ftekhar Před 9 měsíci +2

      Light hashogeki is an excellent meaty tool after light tatsu dash up frame kill and if you do catch them mashing, the uniqu counter hit state is quite rewarding. That being said, I wish heavy and denjin hashogeki had less pushback on block.

      @iZonkGaming2021  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Maybe! Or Ken just needs a nerf, more likely 🤭 if they do buff ryu, its his fireball that needs work, its not good enough imo. Either that, or make his denjin charge easier to get. Maybe cancel into denjin charge from blade kick, could be good and makes him a bit more unique 👍

  • @McMeatBag
    @McMeatBag Před 3 měsíci

    People always talk about Ken downplay, but I think the real character downplay is Ryu. He just has Luke overshadowing him because it seems that Capcom created Luke to be "better Ryu".

    • @iZonkGaming2021
      @iZonkGaming2021  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I made this video pre buffs, he was clearly worse than Ken and Luke but still strong imo…the gap between other characters wasnt as big as people claimed.
      Now after the buffs, hes on Kens level imo, I’d still pick Luke over him…but Ryu is def top 10 now. His hashogeki and fireball buffs clearly move him up

      Well yea, other characters are easier and often better but I think at the highest level (which is not ranked imo) his gameplan is actually pretty viable. If he sucked, he wouldnt be the main of a winner like Ending Walker. He is on a massive win streak (5 world warriors for sf6, in a row). If he really sucked, he would play some one else. I agree that Ken (and Luke) are better at the same archetype. Ryu has good fireballs and space traps, but in both cases you have to be good at spacing them against a moving opponent where as Ken gets to ex fireball drive rush or heavy dragon lash in with much less effort and skill 👍
