Lagos my home, my city. I'm glad to see Paul dressed in traditional àgbàdá along with Linda wearing ìró and búbáà. This foretells a very near future of greater things destined to happen by the seaside in honour of our rock Legends and the Afrobeat that inspired them. #VivaLasgidi. It's awesome to also note that Paul met Fela when he visited. Cool.
I've read there was a bit of a misunderstanding, as Fela suspected that Paul recording in Lagos was an attempt to steal African culture and art (I say this knowing that African culture/art is a VERY broad and diverse thing, with Africa accounting for 20% of the world's land mass and 17% of its population, which we in the Western world often fail to realize) and use it in his own music. After inviting Fela to the studio to show him what they were rehearsing and recording, Fela realized this was not the case, and the two had a great time enjoying each other's company. It's really neat to see this footage for the first time. There's so much on CZcams that I feel I'm only scratching the surface.
...this made me cry. paul and linda were perfect for eachother. the clips are amazing and just so cute. the editing and music selection brought it all together very nicely.
Wow, Ginger Baker looks a lot happier than usual! I've always thought it was really cool that Paul and Fela Kuti forged a friendship after the initial misunderstanding about Paul's intentions recording in Nigeria. I'm not sure I would have heard Fela's music if not for them crossing paths, and he was also a brilliant artist and musician. RIP Fela, Ginger, and Linda.
@MikeyNL1038 Including "Band on the Run" being sung in the background? That doesn't sound like McCartney singing it. It obviously isn't the more well-known version of the song.

I like this vid and the song is really neat :) It's got an Indian feel to it.
It's a shame though that Linda died of Cancer :(
@65if2007 this is an official Paul McCartney video!
trippy
I never knew Paul was in a band before Wings.
Lol is this a joke?
@65if2007 it's a remix version specially for this video. wtih a vocal take which Paul recorded for the 25th anniverary edition of Band On The Run.

An exercise or experiment in editing of some sort...or was this explicitly intended to be a PID video? I can't tell what you had in mind.
cReEpY at 2:34 !
Who is he?
I wonder how Paul and Linda survived there. It's very hard to be vegetarian in Nigeria.
Paul has been a vegetarian since 1975 as some sources suggest.
