    great video. It's important to notice that parallax is a setting based on distance and eventhough red dots and holos don't mention it. They are also sat at a certain distance. So that could easily also be a factor as to why these (besides edge distortion of glass) have such varied results.

  • @fivefivesix-sevensixtwo4114

    It's a parallax comparison and people here saying the Holosun came out on top LOL. EoTech doesn't show any visible parallax. The Holosun shows some parallax when the reticle was on the left. I have a dual reticle Holosun and an EoTech EXPS3. As much as I like how crispy the Holosun looks, EoTech has superior build quality and reliability. As soon as I unboxed my Holosun, I switched between the reticles (circle dot to dot only) multiple times and I ended up with no dot at all. It happened a few times right out of the box. The Holosun also scratches really easy due to the mediocre anodizing. EoTech fixed the issues and made a good reliable optic. If you want a cheaper red dot, go for the Sig Romeo 5 (which is made by Holosun from what I know). It has better anodizing and overall better quality than the Holosun branded optics.

    • @Nervegas
      @Nervegas Před 3 lety

      I've been fielding a 510C at work for the past two years as a SWAT medic, it has held up just fine. It had less than 1 moa of parallax poi difference at 100 yds when our gunsmith was checking it to approve it for field use. As for durability, I work in the desert and it's held up to the heat and sand/dust just fine. Yes the anodizing comes off, but the actual metal and housing itself is extremely durable, function over beauty imo. There's a video around here somewhere of a guy shooting it with a shotgun, amongst other things and it kept on trucking. If that isn't durable, what is? It also works well with nods. Between the two, I'll take the HS any day of the week.

      Actually, I'm seeing minor parallax on the EOTech:
      - At 0:09, it starts out on the left of the post when the camera is on the right, and when it's centered, the dot is centered on the post.
      - At 0:10, when the camera moves to the left, the dot is now located slightly on the right of the post.
      - At 0:12, when the camera comes back middle, the dot is centered again.
      - At 0:13, with the camera on the right, the dot is now on the left of the post.
      Although I wonder if it's correct to qualify that parallax, since it goes the other way around (usually, it would be slightly on the left as you move to the left, whereas there it goes to the opposite direction).

    The parallax varies with respect to the distance its aimed, these sights are made for CQB rifles, though manufacturers claims 500 meter, 700 meter you will not be able to hit bulls eye in those claiming ranges, because its calibrated for 100 meters all over the globe, maximum range for aiming will be 300 meter so during assembling its calibrated to 100 meter as point of intersection where you will see zero parallax between reticle and target. consider the 100 meter point of intersection as 'zero', parallax between the reticle and target increase when reticle is aimed before or after 100 meters.

      I own a Holosun HE503R-GD, an EOTech EXPS3 and an Aimpoint T2. The EOTech looks fuzzy if you stare at the reticle. When shooting, you stare at the target and the fuzziness disappears. I have completely soaked the EOTech, kicked it, dropped it, and it's still going strong with zero issues. The anodizing is still intact after taking a beating for years. The Aimpoint T2 is super crisp and it can go really bright for daytime shooting. The battery life is also the best in the industry. No need for extra features that can malfunction. Just leave the T2 on ALL THE TIME. No issues at all with my T2 besides the price lol. The Holosun malfunctioned 2 times right out of the box. I changed the reticle from circle dot to dot only and I ended up with no dot at all 2 times right out of the box. I know I can replicate the issue whenever I want.. That's not acceptable for an optic I paid over $300 for (when it first came out). How do I know it will function properly when I need it the most if it starts malfunctioning right out of the box? The reticle is nice and crisp but it feels cheap and I don't trust it as much as my other optics. One of my rifles barely touched the Holosun and it made a big scratch. Their anodizing is horrible. They're not bad products but the quality is not on par with other big name optics. By the way Aimpoint is not a US company. The only Chinese made products I like are Chinese AKs.

      PJ Lawrence pretty sure the last sightmark he showed has a 1,000 hour battery life if you left it running constantly. The batteries aren’t those dinky little nickel sized batteries, they upgraded to a singular cylindrical battery that is supposedly 10x better and easier to manipulate when putting it in. However, I’m sure there’s always a few outliers because it’s $100 after all, but the reviews are overwhelmingly positive from what I’ve seen. I just can’t find any statistics on water resistance. @RealCptHammonds Před 5 lety

    I just bought the matching Vortex 3x magnifier for $150 on eBay to go with my Vortex UH-1 Huey holographic sight. This magnifier easily flips to the right and does an amazing job. This setup cost my half (UH-1 was $450 on Optics Planet) of a the closest eoTech, but goes twice as deep underwater, has a tighter dot in the middle of the reticle (MUCH better than eoTech), and it's really nice to be able to use and recharge a CR123A battery without removing it. I'm a military veteran of the USMC, USN and USA with over 20 years of military experience in both jungles and deserts, and what I can tell you is eoTech does not make a better product than this sight and magnifier than this. But, eoTech does charge twice as much for their inferior products. (Yes inferior...Google the lawsuit eoTech lost...topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/closed-settlements/592508-eotech-holographic-weapon-sights-class-action-settlement/) While, granted, the Vortex sights aren't compatible with night vision, as are most eoTechs owned by private citizens aren't, but who really needs it when you can use IR, which works great with Vortex sights and most people's eoTechs. (I know the video game hardened keyboard warriors will tell me they know more than I do and will say they and all their "friends" regularly use their night vision equipment...LOL)

    It's funny because a lot of gun snobs will talk shhht If it's not eoetech, i love the holosun ames, plus alot of eote hs dont give you shake n wake, solar, and the batteries last not even near what alot of competators offer, you wont find a eoetech that last past 20,000 hrs let alone 50,000 unless you pay top price or go with an even more expensive brand or option.

      It depends on the distance that it truly becomes parallax free, i just received mine today. I have not got to shoot with it yet. It is better than what i had, but it is not parallax free. I will let you know after i shoot with it.

    • @MrCooper89
      @MrCooper89 Před 3 lety +1

      You have no idea what you're talking about. EOTechs don't cost more for shits and giggles. It's not hard to get long battery life out of LED reflex sights, but like anything else you're trading off clarity, along with parallax shift. As someone who owns multiple EOTechs, but runs Holosuns on my pistols, I can assure you that the concept, and design is far superior on the EOTech optics. Same goes for the QD system. It's like night and day between the two.
