I agree. I melt & mix lipsticks when I don't quite like the colour (or get to the bottom of an old one); pour into a new screw top travel cosmetic pot & apply with a lip brush.
I also custom mix nail polishes sometimes. I created a lovely magenta colour a few months ago that I use far more frequently than I ever used the nail polishes I used to mix it.
