I use the Elf putty primer, I have been using primer for years, for me, I would be lost without using it, besides my skin is so dry it’s like the Sahara. Hi Melissa I'm very glad to hear your family are all recovering and it's always family first. As to the Elf primer for me it's a bit meh. I much prefer others I have tried, but I have extremely dry skin and the normal Scottish climate is very different. We did have an unusually hot/humid Summer though, with up to 90% humidity many days (yuck sticky sweaty weather we're really not used to lol). I wore the teint idole liquid makeup all Summer and it performed really well through the humidity and mask wearing. I have to moisturise well underneath and use a hydrating primer for my very dry skin in normal weather, but need minimal powder with it - so that's a win. Apparently the Elf matte version makes a good eye primer I've heard (Angie from hot and flashy tried it that way), so that may be another way to get use out of it.
I think you'll like the liquid version of the makeup - less moisturising and a lighter weight finish to the skin. It's also really quite long wearing. Get a sample first to try it. I'm in shade 008/091 which is an excellent shade match for me and yes I am that pale, even as Summer wanes (spf50+ everyday, hats and seeking shade). Ultrasun was a winner through the hot/humid weather btw, as it stayed on all day giving great protection without being greasy/shiny. My mineral spf's were not standing up to the humidity and running off due to the sweat - not protecting me at all. It has given me a new appreciation for the struggles of hot/humid weather I didn't really have before - none of my normal skincare or spf's were performing well for me.

Hi Melissa. Prayers for you and your family. I’m 60 and still use foundation straight on my skin… no moisturizer, primer etc. This Mississippi heat wrecks makeup and sunscreens make me sweat even more . The foundation stick that you use has gotten my attention… gotta try it… 💕🎀💕

(i use the illuminator one with no foundation) because I do love a glow ,especially at my age….but dear heart….You look marvelous no matter what you put on your face! beautiful eyes, skin, hair…everything! Now I want to change the subject …I am adding your family to our prayer list…My heart felt so heavy when I heard about your grandchildren and family members coming down with Covid…we are also dealing with several young grands and some teenagers who have all come down with this variant! The little ones and the teens came home from school with it and now several families are quarantined…all are vaccinated except the under 12’s.How sad this has happened after resuming school after a year of hybrid learning. So sorry to hear that your family has been affected by this crazy Covid virus. It is scary to say the least. I hope and pray all are doing well. I usually wear some type of primer and have tried the Elf clear. It’s just okay. I didn’t notice that I used more foundation. I just started using the Lancôme stick and I am in true love❤️❤️❤️! I also used it with the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer and I swear (for me) it’s a match made in heaven. I am looking for both to be discontinued since I think I am seriously done looking for anything else. PS: I have used the liquid foundation-and I am living the stick! Take care and God Bless. Hi Melissa. I"m glad your family is doing well now. So sweet of you to bring them food! I have my freezer stocked up with meals from Pete's Paleo in case/for when I get covid as I live too far from anyone to help me, other than my son. The meals are gluten and dairy free, so it helps a lot to have that on hand, plus a lot of broth. It's always nice to see you on here. I've tried others and I would repurchase elf poreless putty primer. My skin is on the dry side, so works for me. It also has a "lightening " effect. Not sure if you noticed that. I have the elf putty primer. I use Tatcha Silk Canvas when I want my foundation to be it's absolute best but use elf for most usual days. I like it. My skin needs primer to help give a smooth start.
I’m kind of gotten interested in them now. The ones I had tried before we’re just too greasy and felt too heavy. But I’m sort of interested in trying some different ones and sort of expanding things. LOL. Getting out of my comfort zone. LOL

The other day, I was actually sitting out back, and I started thinking or wondering if I was missing out on some things foundation or skin wise. I didn’t know if I should be using powders and setting powders and finishing powders that others do so I started thinking about it and decided to start with primers. I think it’s one of those that might be tricky to work with. I did find that sort of warming it in my fingers helped it to spread better. I did like how it was sort of tight feeling if that makes sense. It made my skin feel firmer. Thank you so much. Take care.🌹🌹🌹

My nephew in Texas and his 2 children have covid and we are hoping they will have a full recovery. Today my mother-in-law who is 6 months away from being 106 yrs.old went into the hospital and is not doing well. We're putting her on hospice care and will keep her comfortable. I'm so glad your family is on the mend and you keep safe because I would hate for you and Doug to get sick.

@@Melissa55 Thank you Melissa. She has lived a good life and the hospice team are wonderful and will make her passing a peaceful one. My nephew let us know today that they are recovering well and hopefully there will be no long term effects. Keeping your family in our prayers as well.

I never saw a use for primers. For me it’s just a way how to spend more money on things we don’t need.

Hope your family continues to mend. So many people sick here in Miami Florida due to stupidity and lack of listening to doctors, scientists and proper news reporting. My poor RN friend has been pulled from her Administrative positive and thrown into the hands on care. She is exhausted and finds it hard to believe that not one of the 52 patients she has been assigned to in the last two weeks is vaccinated. Sad but true!

Thank you so much. My daughter-in-law is still pretty sick, but she is still able to stay home. She has had to have some IVs but she is holding her own. So thank you. For some reason I’m not crazy about setting sprays. I think I will keep working with them because I’m always interested in expanding and trying things that may work well for me. Hi Melissa, I can't really see a difference with the primers. Do you ever use a mineral finishing powder like Bare Minerals Mineral Veil? I find it good for taking down the shine and it doesn't accentuate lines. It seems to glide over them and also glide over pores to perfect the skin. I wouldn't be without it. Tfs x

Glad everyone is on the mend. A real food friend got Covid, but she was vaccinated and she got better fast. Prayers always help and I live the UTubers who share that they have faith. I like to use serums as primer as some of them are sticky and helps my makeup last longer in the summer. The City Beauty Uplift Firming Serum is probably my favorite. Skincare and primer in one and it’s not advertised as a primer. I do love ELF’s putty primer though and feel it’s one of the best for me from the drugstore. Xoxo 😘

Hello Melissa I couldn't tell a difference from my end. 🙂 I have the poreless putty primer from elf and I like it. I use it mostly for a quick makeup look. If I'm going out and want my makeup to look better I use other primers I have. You look beautiful with whatever you use! 🥰

Hi Melissa, I am so happy to hear that your family is getting better. I pray they continue to recover quick. I have tried the poreless primer. I went into Hobby Lobby and wow, I was glowing when I got out an hour later. It was a bit scary it looked like I used a lot of highlighter which I did not. I looked very greasy. I went back to my NYX Angel Veil. This winter I will try the poreless again when my skin is dryer. I also use the same foundation but the liquid version. Take care and be safe! xo Becki

Hi Melissa, hope everyone gets well soon, l pray for this covid to go away. I thought the 2nd primer made your skin see thru like porcelain. I bought the elf hydrating primer a couple months ago and it did nothing. I bought the cream to powder foundation that you tried by Elf and I like it.

I don’t usually use primers either, I bought the putty primer and only use it if I know I’ll be out in the sun sweating all day long. I’d say that’s the only time it helps.
It seems to help keep the foundation from coming off where my sunglasses touch my nose too

I agree with you 💯 I can't put a lot of products on my face either. I'm 68 and it just weighs it down just like you said. I've been using the Laura Geller Baked powder foundation and found it works so well for me. I absolutely love her products. Take care ❤️

I use a brush. It seems to work for my combo skin. I also use the baked bronzer. It has just worked so well for me… I love it.❤️ It would be fun to see a GRWM . I would like to know how it works for you. I don’t use a primer.

You did a nice, thorough review. I don’t typically wear primer either. If it made you use more foundation I’d probably skip it since the Lancôme stick isn’t cheap. The liquid Teint Idol is my HG foundation. It’s beautiful!! I hope you like it!! I thought they all looked great though👍🏻. I’m glad your family is all pulling through.
