Discussion:
I missed the very first Bonerattle Arena rota and played the second one from EVP 40 through to 999 to get my badge but more importantly, to get the checkpoint. That run was rough - the weapons were a bit technical, EVP 40 - 400 can show a wild disparity in skill levels and the map is new, meaning some of us are just going in blind for the first time. Eventually I made it and I'm so thankful for checkpoints now.
For this rota, I didn't stream and played casually throughout the evening after it went live. Hydra and Sploosh are two of the most powerful weapons in SR and weapons like Rapid Blaster and Splat Dualies compliment them well - you have range, AOE, power, mobility, good ink efficency and ease of use. Freelance can often be measured by how easy weapons are to use and even though the Hydra and Rapid Blaster have skill ceilings that may not be easily achieveable to those less experienced, the Sploosh and Splat Dualies are really easy to use and provide enough safety for most games.
I make a lot of mistakes during this run - silly deaths and silly movement. The map is still new and the Ink Rails affect your momentum and shooting/throwing, which is something I'll need to adapt to. Also I keep forgetting that you can be hit by enemies underneath them as well which will cause you to lose momentum and balance. But thankfully I didn't lose any games as a result of these silly deaths - it came very close in the last game, however.
A pleasure to run into a lot of familar faces in the community and GGs to all the teammates I had. For all the issues I have with Freelance, you'll always find me there.

I reached 999 here too, this map was really fun and the only SR maps I have to accomplish is Smokeyard and Maroon Bay, good job though!

I always kinda wish i could get higher EVP, highest i've ever gotten to was around 510 on a sockeye golden rotation a few months ago. (only one over 300 EVP too) Would you be able to make a video on high EVP tips both with friends and freelance?

in freelance what do you find is most important? clearing lessers, clearing bosses, or delivering eggs?
i often find that to climb to evp 600+ with randoms, i have to, even with non-ideal weapons, focus on splatting lesser salmonids. so many random players will tunnel delivering eggs or splatting bosses. i often see players near me running away from lessers and leaving them to be someone else's problem instead of shooting them.
when i start getting into stronger freelance teams that play like it's a team game, my balance between the three (lessers, bosses, egg delivery) is much more evenly distributed
I agree with you actually - in lower EVP I often find myself being the primary slayer of all bosses and lessers. So my objective for freelance in lower hazard lobbies is to kill as much as I can do that my team can run eggs and stay safe. I try not to only do one thing or prioritise one thing over another as I think staying fluid and dynamic is paramount but slaying is usually the role I take on as it’s the one that needs doing more than anything else.
But yeah, once you climb higher, you often find you’re matched with players that can slay fine and understand luring to a certain degree or knowing when to use specials, when to kill early and especially keeping lessers controlled. So sometimes I find myself playing more supportive or egg running to assist the slayers.
I’m in the process of actually writing a script about playing at higher difficulties cause I think it needs to be played differently than lower difficulties.
thanks for the insight! i started playing salmon run a lot again (i always love it, just sometimes take a month or two off for other games) with this big run. i've only been EVP 600+ like 4-5 times (including during this big run, where i got 152 eggs in the last 30 minutes after being stuck at 132/135 for gold after playing with randoms for 10 hours). i thought about it more and ended up agreeing that yeah you really have to like, spend the first minute or two analyzing what your teammates like to do. whatever their weakness is, you should try to spend more time doing, but splatting lessers and bosses efficiently will always allow them to do better
sadly the first shift after big run is marooner's bay with a hilariously badly balanced weapon loadout (3 weapons that sacrifice dps and aoe for range (glooga dualies, splattershot nova, bamboozler) and one strong aoe weapon (s-blast with jump shot) that needs someone else to paint) on the worst map so i got smoked in EVP 0-100 freelance. even the pretty strong groups can get overwhelmed on high tide or just get too many shore static bosses on normal tide. or you get a glowfly wave, make one mistake, and have to burn a special to prevent the wipe... 2-3 times. and then the team is low on specials (or they just forget to use them until they're about to die) for dealing with shore bosses on regular/high tide
Question. How many bronze scales do you get in a week?
Uhhhh probably not that much? But idk what you define as a lot. I play about twice a week currently, 3-4 hour sessions each. But I tend to play more if there’s events on, such as Big Run

2400 is a lot! Play during Big Run, it’s double scales, and I swear I always get maximum bronze with no gold lol

@@rachelskiiiiiii Putting aside years of SP1 and SP2 experience, How many hours does your Switch say you have into SP3? That might begin to clear thing up for people on the kind of time commitment required. The current rule of thumb for becoming an "expert" on a skill is 10,000 hours. The quick math on that is about 5 years at a full time job. Before becoming the biggest band in the world, The Beatles played 16 hours a day at a bars in Germany for a couple of years.
