ST TNG had a more loose less upright cousin show about a ship that was not build to be flagship of the union (the orville's federation) but ends up getting in situations that gradually seem to be turning points for the union. Sometimes inadvertently or by messing up as they can be goofy at times, then buckling up and trying fix things, or owning on their deeds and evolve

@@cindyd2963 From what I've read in his interviews he is very nervous on talk shows and needs it to calm his nerves. Once I read it was scotch and another time that it was Jack Daniels. I share a birthday with him, I tend to get nervous too.

Call me nuts, but I like Seth's singing even more than his comedy. But both are consistently great, so I'm glad he still does both.

So glad "The Orville" is back! Sucks that I have to get Hulu now, though. And funny to think that I haven't watched Fox in years (except for those times when I caught season one).
We love Hulu! It saved us when we had to disconnect the cable in 2007. Not only was it free but we also developed a love for British dramas as they used to show a ton of them. Over the years, I've appreciated the many current television shows that they stream (like 911), the fact that we can get national nightly news, the streaming of so many shows that we adored from 2007 to 2016 years (like Burn Notice and White Collar) and the continuation of getting great British dramas - like Scott & Bailey. The medical crisis that caused a financial crisis in my home was over many years ago but I've never turned the cable back on. We've saved a fortune and don't miss the commercials. Hulu is one of the main reasons for that.

The writing on the Orville is by far much better the any of the Star Trek shows now playing. Interesting plots and great story telling. He will go down in history as one the greatest TV - Movie producers in our time.

I hadn’t seen this when it aired, but just washed the first two episodes of Oraville new horizons last night on Hulu. Really great. Seth MacFarlane seems like a really cool guy. Very talented, obviously. Trained to be an illustrator/animator, and went from animator to VoiceOver actor to actor/creator/producer. Quite an impressive guy. Must be nice to be in the business and get to meet and hang out with such interesting people like Seth MacFarlane, Johnny Depp and others. Times like this I wish I had chosen a different career path. Or it had chosen me.

I'm so glad the Orville is back, and I love the first episode already, the way the people on the ship hate a robot so badly is exactly how I view racism, when you watch it it is silly that these people hate a robot just like ot or silly for people to hate a color. At least that's the scope I viewed it through.

I’m almost finished with the first season of The Orville, and it’s less campy than what I was expecting from something from Seth MacFarlane. Don’t get me wrong, it has its humor, but it’s more of a tribute to Star Trek.
Yes it's a loving tribute - and in many ways it is like Star Trek. Especially as it goes along, but I won't be specific, because you haven't seen it all yet.

I don't make comparisons with other series, but undoubtedly, currently The Orville is my favorite series. The only one that counts the days until a new episode arrives, and that I'm afraid to read that it might be canceled at some point.

If like Seth you like music, you play the music that's available. At home in London, the music I could play came from my mum's Hollywood musicals LPs and her 78 rpm discs by Mario Lanza, Nat King Cole etc. My equivalent to Seth's Rick Astley era was the Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Elvis, Eddie Cochrane etc. era. When I was 12, I could belt out "Oh What A Beautiful Morning", "Some Enchanted Evening", "Drink, Drink, Drink" and "When I Fall In Love" (mother's favourites), as well as "Johnny B. Goode", "Great Balls Of Fire", "Keep A Knockin' " (Uncle Mick's favourites) and my favourites Eddie Cochrane's "Somethin' Else" with its thumping beat and "Tallahassee Lassie" by Freddy Cannon. The last one I didn't even really know what I was singing about. The chorus goes:
