- Eastfield Mall Springfield, MA. Not a dead nor dying mall but actually a nice and thriving mall with a lot of life still here.

The fountain was covered in October for Eastfield Mall-O-Ween (note the stage still up for the costume contest judges). A few days after Halloween, the Santa photo set is constructed over it. Once Christmas is over, the fountain will be turned back on.
That's great to hear!
I pinned this comment so others can read it so we know that the fountain will be turned back on!
Haha I fell into that fountain as a kid😭😅
Wow! I think this is the most beautiful place you have ever filmed!
Omg those neon lights are so neat. Every home should have them.

Nice to see a mall still thriving. The mall near me closed down last year. Kmart near me closed down two years ago. Sad. Entire generations won’t know what it’s like to visit an actual giant building and have so many different stores and food to choose from.
New videos make my Monday! 👍🏻🙋🏻♀️
My goodness neon dreams!!!!! Love it. That's awesome that u have teamed up with ace. I've been following his channel since the beginning. And to have the both of you to fellas to join is amazing!!! Love what y'all do keep up the good work guys!!
Amazing, it is good thing this mall made this far. We have lost so many.
Damn that place is 51 years old
It opened up when my mom was born
Wow that's awesome history
yeeeeeeehoooooooooo!! I gotta get out to some more malls! omg that guy on the roof! so cool! I wonder if there is actually roof access, or if that was a maintenance man or something
He is one of our Operations team members
ACE IS THE BEST! GOOD JOB WALLIE B THANK YOU!
I am a fan of ace too
Loving the old bath and body Works logo
2 things
1) Finally a mall with old architecture that's doing well
2) lol Anthony is taller than you
Wow! Steiger's looks like quite a store! Its a shame how everything now is Macys, Sears (just barely), and JCPenney.
Interesting video! Thanks for bringing us great content!
It’s nice seeing a mall that isn’t dead.
This it worth keeping your Shopping Centres open in the US!
A very nice mall with blue neon squares on ceilings. Look like that place is doing well even though no major anchors
Wallie. Thank you for coming to my hometown.
Excellent video!
Good video. Thanks for filming.
Love the New Retro vibe with the neon lights, old styling, and newer kiosks. Looks like the 1980's-90's version of the future. Blade Runner, Total Recall, Robocop
I went to the Eastfield mall a couple months ago while doing things in the area and I was amazed how retro it was, and I love the neon lights! Wallie, I recommend you visit the swansea mall in swansea Massachusetts if you ever get the chance. It is a retro mall just like Eastfield mall but is unfortunately dying, it also has neon lights like Eastfield but not nearly as many, just in the food court! If I find the time and courage, I may film swansea mall soon because I heard it might get renovated soon.
Wish we had a good mall like this, ours is very small, and the food court isn’t great! Our Sears is closing, Elder Beerman gone, it’s sad! Great video, thanks!
I think this is showing that malls want start being less dependent on department stores, but hopefully these would get filled with something very quick. Probably some restaurants or something.
Good video, I like the in the past photo's 😀
Good photo of you two.
Thanks Wallie for coming to Massachusetts and doing one of the malls here in Massachusetts. We do appericate your vids! Thanks for doing this video! From a fan in Boston MA
Cool my friend👌
Awesome video man, I love when you include the old pics of the malls from back in the day. Keep em coming 😀
Awesome video and both you and Anthony know how to find these gems. If you look at this mall without any knowledge of how it's now you would think it'has anchors because it's busy. I'm amazed the mall is doing well. You could consider Old Navy a junior anchor. If the mall owners work a little bit they could get stores like Kohls, Norstrom Rack, the Marshalls Home Goods family, even Target in those empty department store spaces. Don't know if Boscovs and their cupcakes would go farther north as Massachusetts.
Malls have more life with neon, color, funky designs. I hate the Simon malls which all look the same.
I love when you guys include the old photos of malls and the videos too (and those frightening hair styles and clothes from the 80s!)
We have a simon mall where i live its thriving but it does look boring
Great video Wallie! Brick and mortar will not go down without a fight if I have anything to say ($or spend$) about it!
The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano, TX is doing just that. They're installing an upscale "food court" with fine dining restaurants.
Voiceover. That's new.
Hope you can make another trip up to Mass and stop at the Holyoke and Buckland Hills (Manchester CT) malls. I believe those malls are doing well. Now for the Enfield Square Mall in CT, the town had to intervene following a partial ceiling collapse at the former Macy's.
i lived in Springfield MA for most of my childhood. this mall was the “go-to” for back to school shopping, gifts, or general shopping for clothes and such. this mall was successful and thriving with people and holiday decorations between its opening through to around 2015 or 16. after that, the malls retreated customers had actually migrated to a much bigger and successful mall called The Holyoke Mall a city or two away from Springfield. After that, there hasn’t been many people going. ill admit, i go to the much much bigger mall for everything and stopped going to this mall years ago. but i went there recently to trade in a new phone at one of those machines that gives you money depending on how much your phone is worth and noticed that it was depressing with how empty it was... yeah it still has some customers and stores but not as much as it used to. about the fountain, it used to be open even during Christmas time and kids would throw pennies in and such but they such it down because of the lack of people coming to see it...im guessing. but that’s just my insight! hoped this helped!!☺️
You should’ve visited the tower square mall downtown... That place is a ghost town but is still a pretty neat place. I think they’re turning the place into a YMCA.
Wallie, check out the Greendale mall in Worcester, MA. Sears pulled out of the Eastfield mall which was very active up until the mid 2000s
This is ALMOST as Dead as the Enfield Connecticut Enfield Square- now that Sears and Penney's are gone, their days are numbered. The two most pitiful food courts anywhere! Ditto for the monstrosity of Holyoke Mall.
It's a bummer, since I grew up spending many days hanging with my friends at all these places.
I'm from the area. food court used to have a merry go round. plus sears at Holyoke mall just closed. I'm from westfield and the bonton closed back in august
Hey Wallie! I live in this area and I can confirm that the Eastfield mall is Closed forever as of july. They are now demolishing the mall.
That sucks. I hate that it closed. I loved this mall. Even just visiting it once, I loved it.
@@WallieB26 Yeah same. But after 2020, JCP, SEARS, And Macys were all gone, so with no anchors, I knew it was going to happen.
That's a huge mall
Wow Wallie I have not seen or heard the word Wallden Books in a long time...
Awesome video man I'm catching up on them!
#WallieB26 knocks one out of the ballpark again 🎊 I love those blue #Neonlights. Ever get to the mall in Washington, PA? #MerryChristmas 🎄🤶🎅🦌#cheers 🍻 You're on hard working #youtuber ⛄
Wish I knew you would be there to meet you. :)
This used to be such a great mall. Everytime I drive by it I get depressed. Holyoke Mall is all that's left
All the anchors in my city mall will be closed, Sears will be closed in February of 2019. A company just bought the other two former anchors which was JC Penny and Macys, didnt know they could do that without purchasing the whole mall. Its sad! Pretty mall.
I have heard they are planning to “de-mall” this place and turn it into some sort of mixed use town center type development. Maybe it will thrive in that new format.
Congratulations on going to Springfield and not getting shot lol. Awesome video dude
Springdale mall was across the street as was circuit city & toys r us
Yup bradlees , leachmere that per store, music store, papa ginos
YESSSS!
@@DJMYSTERYYGC The petstore lol! LEACHMERE!!!!!!! omg flashbacks.
I liked it
Hi wallie from ur #1 fan...❤️
Thx for liking my comments wallie
Hey Wallie!
You should go to Donovans (if I said it right) Great food!
Getting close to NH! Check out that abandoned Ames please!
Wallie, any plans on visiting Holyoke Mall in Holyoke, Massachusetts?
I just wanted to say you have great videoes and I enjoy watching I grew up in Minnesota going to the Mall of America and the Eden Prairie Center mall I was wondering if you have gone to any malls in Minnesota or have wanted to go to the Mall of America or any other malls in Minnesota?
One of the reasons why I'm asking is because my earliest memories of Sears was when I was a toddler my grandmother worked at Sears in the Eden Prairie Center mall I wonder if it's still there I wish I could go back to my childhood mall to see what is still there and what is not also when I was a child going to the Eden Prairie Center Mall I remember there was a super Target attached which is really nice all I really remember of my childhood in terms of businesses that now dying is Sears and Blockbuster I never remember Toys R Us the only stores I remember as a child was Walmart and Target which obviously is still around but the old fashioned Walmart was pretty cool
I'm surprised that all the smaller stores are still open while the anchors have been long gone, usually it's the other way round when it comes to dead malls.
The Jc penny store was a Forbes & Wallace dept STORE
This mall is now demolished except for the separately owned Sears building
It's not abandoned, so 1655 Boston Rd, Springfield, MA.
Unfortunately, as of 3/10/24, the mall is completely demolished. All that remains is 1 anchor and a few signs.
damn i aint been there since i was 9
This Mall was the shit wheni was younger now its a wasteland . There was a smaller mall across the street also called the Springdale mall.
Hey wallie b26 if you would like more information on stores in & around the mall I'd be glad to help
The mall is a ghost town it sucks used to be good in the 80’s and 90’s
That didn't age well. Sorry, that was sarcasm. Really though, when you posted this video (5 years ago) it was already on the downward slide. It would have happened one way or the other, but COVID sped up the schedule. I expect all structures to be gone by 2/19/24. Only a tiny piece to nibble and it's gone. As I type this, just the Old Navy walls exist. Next up is tearing up the concrete and that looks like it's maybe a 1/3rd to 1/2 gone, starting at the old JC Penney. Sears stays as the it was attached to the mall, but not on mall property. Sears had a lot of setups like that. So, a new strip mall comes in and the Sears will be there. Empty. Unless the new strip mall takes off and Sears can leech off of it. I imagine the mall property owners will put up a 10 foot fence to hide Sears.
One not on 😅
That shits still alive? got damn
Wanna know something funny? So, there is this hotel that was "undergoing renovations" and was supposed to come back a couple months later.. We're still waiting for it to return 😂 I guess putting up "under renovation" on your sign in Pennsylvania means you are closing up and forgetting your business even existed.
Let me add, the hotel had 264 rooms and a restaurant named "Ember's steakhouse and saloon". The hotel had a free indoor pool and free wifi, it was also approved by triple A. That seems like a decent hotel, and I can assume it was. However, the reviews didn't look good as far as quality and price is concerned. The rooms didn't cost as much as it does at the nearby hotel, Thornwald mansion. With rooms costing $264 dollars at the mansion. The reviews suggested of poor quality of the rooms and the horrible prices and quality of the food. The hotel was sued by a banking company for something about loans but it was later dismissed. The hotel was in a great place, located near the turnpike, if you drive up to where that Sheetz was but instead of taking a left you would go straight to get there. Miller Films or whatever there account was went inside the building to explore it, there is also a video of the abandoned pool.
Check out Adrian mall in Adrian mall in Adrian Michigan it's a dead mall
It can't be as dead as the orchard mall in benton harbor
malls are thing of the past
if only they didnt take the hot topic out
🆒👍👍!!! WALLIE!!!!
Welcome to Springfield, that mall has been dying for years. Figures I'm in florida and was with Dan Bell, was just at Eastfield last week.
I go thier a lot and the Holyoke mall is stealing it’s business because more people prefer thier over the Eastfield in my opinion
Beautiful???😳👀🤯🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
I’m not sure how you think this mall is thriving. I live here. Definitely not.
