- Destiny 2's Lore tells us about the Eliksni of the City and their struggle to survive day by day! In one series of events the Drifter entered a bar and defused a potential fight between some bar patrons and a group of Eliksni!

He’s good with words, he’s just not gonna mince words. He’s gonna be very abrupt and direct
Are you kidding? The Drifter survived the dark age with nothing *but* words, he hated to get his hands dirty. Being a lightbearer is dangerous, not just to him but to the people around him.
And it makes sense he's fairly wise because he's a fairly ancient Lightbearer having been around since the Humanity's Dark Age after the Collapse. A lot of his philosophy is derived from his experiences during that time and his time on the outskirts of the system.

This reminds me of something the Emissary of the Nine once said about the Drifter; something to the effect of how he abhorred violence so much he was willing to murder someone to stop them. All he really wants is survival, for himself above everyone else, sure, but not to the exclusion of others. I think the Drifter has a bigger heart than anyone is willing to admit.

I mean look at old war vets, they are extremely wise and hate conflict, drifter is one of the first light bearers and has lived for a minimum of about 700-800 years so imagine how tired of fighting he is at this point also explains how wise he is
I think his lack of zeal towards the light and the Vanguard is misinterpreted as him being untrustworthy and duplicitous. But he’s seen the Dark Age and he knows that Guardians are a stones throw away from becoming Warlords hence he looks after himself and few others that he can trust never the Vanguard itself.

Wasn't weapon parts, was just resources. Lore tab specifies how he 'thought he ordered weapon parts" but it turned out to be supplies that just so happened to be sent from Lakshmi. Still funny that Drifter did that lmao.
Dang, can someone point me to that bit of lore? Been trying to find it but the only thing I see is Crow stealing stuff from Spider and sending them as gifts in his name.

Every time Drifter talks about his odd dietary habits, I just find myself wondering if roast Hive was at all a part of how Eris Morn survived the Hellmouth for so many years. I doubt there was anything else to eat, after all.
Well, she took their eyes, why not the rest of them too? Although, snitching worm larvae would probably be easier. Boneless too.
I feel like the Drifter might have wondered this same thing. Unsure if it was actually any spoken dialogue where he asks.

@@joelrobinson5457 most of the lore was in-game. The quest where you choose between the Vanguard or the Drifter. It's in a bunch of written stuff too though.
Drifter is such a fun character to have in scenes. He brings this great lawless cowboy energy.
The crazy guy who ends up being the voice of reason more often than not is one of my favorite kind of characters, it's why I love The Drifter so much

It's technically already there. Eris, Drifter, and Elsie sort of are a Dark Vanguard.

Drifter is like if the Punisher if he was immortal and had a sense of humor. Good man reluctantly doing good things with violence. My favorite character for sure.

Clever way to solve the brewing conflict:
The crowd was using the elephant in the room to increase the tension and to gather support against the Eliksni.
The Drifter sabotaged this by adressing the elephant directly and then dimissing it as no longer relevant.
Drifter has been great this season. When you get the gambit ornament for the seasonal fusion rifle he tells you how he "accidentally" sent supplies to the Eliksni quarter and addressed it as from Lakshmi-2. That did make me giggle

The old grimoire story where Cayde fights alongside a fallen captain comes to mind with the throwing the gun down bit. She threw a shock pistol between them. She was asking for a truce with cayde, and when he went to pick it up, only then did she attack him.
To be honest, It could be either that or she wanted a mercy kill. She was already loosing Ether quickly, and I Guess Eliksni wouldnt like to die by shrivelling Up like a pathetic fig.
So, she 'forced' Cayde to kill her. By lunging at him and forcing him to shoot

Thanks to Lore videos, especially Byf’s videos, I enjoy the game of Destiny much more than before I knew the Lore of this game.
Thank you for taking these moments in lore that are so easily passed up with everything else we’re doing in game and bringing it to life. I know I’d miss out on a lot of this lore if it weren’t for you and your team. I’m glad we’re making peace with at least one faction of the Eliksni and look forward to how things progress within the City.
What's also notable is that it seems for the first time Drifter is standing up and DOING something not just being passive not just letting things happen around him.
Drifter's a crazy bastard, but we love him for it.

I havent played much this season, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the story. Your channel has had me checking the lore tabs on everything I pick up LOL. These videos are so great to listen to while at work. I really hope the Eliksni and the populace can learn to get along...History is doomed to repeat itself if those who experience it dont learn from their mistakes. You should also add to your list of video ideas just a readthrough of each lorebook from start to finish, as I would love to listen to them!

Considering all of the goofy crap he does on his streams, I can see him doing that. He does use his Drifter voice sometimes when he plays rounds of Gambit.
I'm curious what Crow was planning on doing. Waiting for the violence to start would've been a bad idea so would jumping the literal gun. Considering how he feels about the Eliksni that could have been a bloodbath.
That's why he was so tense, shit was about to hit the fan and he was wearing all white.

That's why I think it's super sweet that the Drifter intervened after seeing him. It's highly possible that the Drifter knows who Crow is/was and intervened to protect him.
Speaking of food, I believe that slow cooking a cabal war beast for 2 days to make the muscle nice and tender and serving it with peas and potato with a dash of gravy would make for a really hearty meal.

I absolutly love the drifter
One of my favorite entries of lore was on the sparrow titled 'Firecrest'. It isn't some huge entry dripping with Destiny's exciting lore no, its a simple entry of an interaction between a Guardian and one of the cities mechanics. To me it felt real and a part of Destiny's story we rarely hear about. How did the guardians truly interact with the non light bearer's on a day to day basis...
I also like the text you get after turning in the Null Composure Gambit ornament quest, how Drifter, instead of ordering exotic weapon parts with your winnings, “accidentally” pressed the wrong buttons and ordered some supplies to the Eliksni quarter, and instead of writing “For Drifter, hands off” to the order, made the order “from Lakshmi”.

This has been my favorite lore since the beginning of the season, *love* drifter
Lore Daddy did not fade away. Instead, he was reborn and stepped out of the shadows as the Drifter.
Loving the lore with Misraaks and the direction of the Eliksni and house of light. Also, adding drifter in it makes it even better because he’s my favorite character.
The best part about the lore entry being on Borrowed Time is the bit about borrowing your neighbors SMG parts and the guy was missing some and the fact that it's an SMG lolol 🤣
This is such a good story. The depth in the lore tabs this season are absolutely amazing

the way I read the Drifter and Eliksni elders conversation was as two grizzled souls sharing stories and a laugh or two. this encounter shows why the Drifter is one of my favourite characters

congratulations on passing the 900k mark, now i am a fairly new subscriber but the time i followed you was a very enriching and interesting time and i was fascinated by this whole new facette i never really was interested in before regarding destiny, it was fun and this video was actually a very nice story thank you for reading it for me xD even though it was a small story it was still moving and pretty cool to hear after knowing the drifters intensions and philosophy etc. i think those stories a actually far more important than on the first glance because they help immensely with character developement for example this one tells me that the drifter is not corrupted by the darkness and that he is pretty smart and choosed a cheeky way to solve this problem i think hes actually far more respectable then the vanguard and also far wiser in his own way keep on doing those vids and our favourite lore daddy gets to 1 mil Subs !!!

I still can't catch up on all the interactions we've had with him so I don't know how to feel about him, between gambit prime, the lack of guilt over the deaths, and that we still don't know what he's doing with the motes, or where all the combatants that are massacred during the rounds come from, but... If he really wanted to do us harm he would have. At worst he's indifferent.
Me if I had to hold a converstation with Drifter:
''I like your funny words, magic man.''
Imo, it would've been just as good to have drifter be the liaison between humanity and the fallen as crow is.
Perhaps I put a little too much Trust in him, but I'm confident that he recognizes that survival is easier with the vanguard than going on his own against the universe
