I enjoyed watching this educated video. I’ll watch it over and over. I hope you keep having your blessings in life! You make sure we are getting a good observation and stress we write out description-function-location. Thank you! Thank you!

Follow up question, how do you know if it's a bird's eye view or a side view? Or is that a think on slides?

    • @sciencebygabrawy
      @sciencebygabrawy  Před rokem

Good question. All tissue slides are side view except simple squamous. You just have to be able to memorize what it looks like and then remember that these cells are not layered on top of each other because each cell is touching the basement membrane.

How do we tell if it touches the basement membrane or not?

Since some of the lasts slides functions/locations were vaguely touched on I thought I’d add them in the comments.
    AREOLAR LOOSE CT:
FUNCTION : wraps and cushions organs; it’s macrophages phagocytize bacteria; plays an important role in inflammation; holds and conveys tissue fluid.
LOCATION: distributed under epithelia of body; forms lamina propria of mucous membranes; packages organs; surrounds capillaries
    LOOSE CT ADIPOSE:
FUNCTION: provides reserve fuel; insulates against heat loss; supports and protects organs
LOCATION: under skin; around kidneys and eyeballs; within abdomen; in breasts
    LOOSE CT RETICULAR:
FUNCTION: fibers form a soft internal skeleton (stroma) that supports other cell types, including white blood cells, mast cells, and macrophages.
LOCATION: lymphoid organs (lymph nodes, bone marrow, and spleen).
    CARTILAGE: HYALINE
FUNCTION: supports and reinforces; serves as a resilient cushion; resists compressive stress.
LOCATION: forms most of embryonic skeleton; covers the ends of long bones in joint cavities; forms coastal cartilages of ribs; cartilage of the nose, trachea, and larynx
    CARTILAGE: FIBROCARTILAGE:
FUNCTION: tensile strength with the ability to absorb compressive shock
LOCATION: intervertebral discs; pubic symphysis; discs of knee joint
    CARTILAGE: ELASTIC:
FUNCTION: maintains the shape of a structure while allowing great flexibility
LOCATION: supports the external ear; epiglottis
    BONES (OSSEOUS TISSUE):
FUNCTION: bone supports and protects (by enclosing); provides levers for the muscles to act on; stores calcium and other minerals and fat; marrow inside bones is the site for blood cell formation (hematopoiesis)
    BLOOD:
FUNCTION: transport of respiratory gases, nutrients, and other substances
    LOCATION: contained within blood vessels
    NERVOUS TISSUE:
FUNCTION: neurons transmit electrical signals from sensory receptors and to effectors (muscles and glands); supporting cells support and protect neurons.
LOCATION: brain, spinal cord, and nerves
Hope this helps anyone in A&P
This information was retrieved from my A&P lab manual; Human Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory Manual, Volume l
