      Hey! J Perm can we do blind with only j perms. I am working on it and currently trying to solve r perm with just j perms

    • @JPerm
      @JPerm  Před 6 lety +25

      wow, blindfolded with just J perms sounds extremely tough. My first try sighted was around 2 minutes, so I feel like an actual J perm method blindfolded would take forever.
      BUT if you allow a bit of cheating, i can already imagine that an old pochmann method using J perm as the only allowed swapping algorithm would actually be pretty simple. All you need is new setup moves and the method is complete.

    I actually realized just from thinking and experimenting that....it's also possible to use the Old Pochmann blindfold method using nothing but Jb perms, or even Tperms, as well as others including the modified Yperm which all 3 are commonly used in the Old Pochmann method. I noticed that, although it's not for speed cubing, I realized that even though Jperm and Tperm are taught for edges, meanwhile the Yperm is used on the corners, that any of these 3 algs can be also used interchangeably. For example, Tperm or Jperm can be used for both edges and even the corners too, as long as the buffer and target concepts are used. I noticed also that many people think the buffer and the target are written in stone, however, using Speffz lettering scheme for example, B doesn't have to be the buffer. You can even switch whenever you want B and D being the target or buffer at will, as long as you don't mess up the correct pieces on each side when doing setup and unsetup moves. I like to use Tperm and Jperm for not only the edges but also for the corners using usually B as the buffer for corners, and C as the target. This way, for people who aren't interested in speed, we can solve blindfolded now with just one algorithm! All Tperms or even all Jperms. As for parity, just do a DAD and that eliminates the need for Ra perm

  • @Applevi
    @Applevi Před 4 lety +8

    You can also just use the first J perm.
    What I do is first fix the plus edges, then the second layer edges. To orient the top edges I use a second layer edge as buffer. Then I swap the top edges to fix them.
    For the corners I do a J perm on the corner I want to move swapping it to the place I want it to be. Then I do another J perm that intersects with just a corner of the previous J perm. Then I do the first J perm again and the second again. This swaps 3 corners.
    I use that to get 3 corners correct on the bottom. For the 4th one I use a trash corner to not mess up the correct 3 corners.
    To fix the top corners I move a bottom corner to the top to orient the top corners and then swap them all to the right spot.
    Btw I think that standard J perm is totally legal if you just include that U' in the J perm.

    OH HOW YOU'VE GROWN. Over the past year I've come across your channel. You, back then still having only 300 subscribers and a few videos up, I can EASILY TELL how much you've climbed. You are still one of the best who give tutorials out there and I can see that having all that knowledge has really paid off. Congratulations on 40k! I'm really grateful for you :)

    That final U on the other J-perm algorithm is not cheating. I'd argue that that move is actually the last one of the J-perm algorithm, since you would expect it to leave the cube in the exact same state as before, only with those 4 pieces moved around.
    I'd go so far as to say that it isn't a J-perm algorithm unless you include that last U turn. (I think it was actually U'... you get the idea)

    • @asr2009
      @asr2009 Před rokem

    Hello J Perm, can I ask.. I feel my cube (Thunderclap) sort of "unstable" when I do some turn or alghoritms (or mainly wide turns) I accidentaly move the middle layer or just all sides move a little bit from place (sort of "breaks" in my hands), so I get lockups and it sometimes slows me. Thanks for help how to not overturn or get lockups.

    I honestly don't see how adding a U' turn to the end of the regular J perm is any different than using an algorithm that has it built in...it does the same thing. When I first learned the J perm I learned it with that extra U' at the end so that's what I used for solving this. I used that and the other J perm which is the same as the lefty version, just rotated.

      You can get a U-Perm if placing the side with only one wrong piece to the left and doing a right J-Perm, U-Perm is solved by placing the solved side to the left and doing a right J-Perm and then doing a left J-Perm on the opposite side, I know this bcz I have solved a 3x3 using only J-Perms before seeing this video and without using internet
