some of them are « too much barock to understand... Really pleasant harmony , unfortunately not so melodic. Were I live one knows nothing about the rich french modal harmonies, here in Austria.
As music is all about sound waves all opinions are subjective, unless we discuss form, concept and contents. But words like "pleasant", "beautiful" "rich" etc. etc. are in the ears of the beholder.
Is French music banned in Austria? I would imagine if Austrians know nothing of French music, that's just an unfortunate lapse in taste. Plus, as a Canadian, I find it really funny when western Europeans talk about other western European countries like they are exotic, far off lands; I could drive from my hometown of Edmonton, Alberta to my current home in Toronto, Ontario, and a 60 hour drive would be making good time. It's a 2000 mile excursion, and nowhere near a full traipse across the entire country. Anyhow, getting territorial in regards to music criticism seems restrictive. And it also surprises me that someone would argue that Faure is not melodic (!!!) Subtlety in art is not a weakness but a strength, and personally, I was drawn to Faure precisely because of his melodic genius. Take care; I must take my leave as it's time to harvest maple syrup and go moose hunting.

The one in G minor (no. 3) always instills an enigmatic trance within me. I love Fauré's late period.

Sublime n°3 ! Les auditeurs nocturnes de Radio Classique apprécieront ;)
Beautiful! Nº 4 is charming.
Insanely good
I think I hear a pre-echo of the minuet from the orchestral suite Masques et Bergamasques in number 4. 9:58
The 9th is a premonition of Berg s Sonate.....
n°2 is Fauré's very own Flight of the Bumblebee
et le 6e ? - personne n'a un mot pour le 6e ??? (de très loin mon préféré...)
i like 1,4,9
6:43 👌
Le n°8 me rappelle vaguement "Needles and Bones" de Vangelis......

Incorrect accessment of these mature works. The fault is your own, not the composer's.

Bartje Bartmans yes, here is exactly the space for sharing this subjectivity

Too soapy without good ideas
Nice!
Wrong. It's your day or part of your day and things you sense, feel, think about, that matters. Faure's music just assist. A different approach.
