Hi everyone!
It's me again. If this battle seems...different than what you're used to (like maybe what's on Wikipedia), it's because, as always, we are only using the most trustworthy of primary sources and modern examination of them. In this case, the depiction here is based on the Chronicles of Lord Nobunaga (Shinchōkōki), supplemented by surviving letters of the battle's participants, including but not limited to a very brief report of the battle to Shōgun Yoshiaki from Nobunaga himself. In fact this video directly quotes a line from the English translation of the Chronicles at 10:07. These sources clearly contradict the traditional depiction in enough places that I've made the decision to use new revisionist theory based on the Chronicles instead.
There's also a mistake in the video. At 6:25, Nobunaga is depicted as running back to Gifu via the Nakasendō highway. He in fact turned southeast from Kannonji Castle towards Hino Castle in order to escape the trap set for him. From there he entered the Chikusa road into the mountains directly east just before his enemies could block his path, almost got shot by a sniper in the mountain but got out the other side into Ise, and then north back to Gifu. I did not catch this mistake until too late, for which I apologize.
Also 6:08, we meant Nobunaga marched east. I totally didn't catch that. Oops!
Once again, I am here to answer any simple questions. Please post complicated questions to reddit's Askhistorians.

Don’t listen to the cancerous comments, your videos are enjoyed by many. Keep up the good work always love your videos!
great! thanks for illuminating the behind the scenes decisions on what to include.
Keep up the great videos
The part where you said they retreated must be false. No Samurai would flee from battle.
There is a legend where Oda Nobunaga retreated from Echizen because Oichi, his sister who was married to the Azai Nagamasa, sent her brother a sack of beans tied at both ends, ostensibly as a good-luck charm but in reality a warning that he was about to be attacked from both front and rear by the Asakura and Azai clans. According to the story, Nobunaga understood the message and retreated from his brother-in-law's assault in time.
This is the kind of video I stop everything I'm doing for.
Ditto
same.

yup after this im going to play shogun 2 total war, im gonna change Oda's future.
Did yoi stoped breathing?
Doing the Sengoku Jidai was a really good idea. It fits well with the channel's style.
Plus he has enough material to make episodes for a decade on CZcams. Amazing how much historical material one can work with just covering the Sengoku Jidai
at 1:24 it becomes the Sengoku Jedi lol
General, we have discovered the enemies hidden units! Treacherously meant to ambush us!
or in Rome 2: :(
Shameful display!

Bring us more of Sengoku Jidai please. This series is great!
Actually, the Saito Dosan is the father-in-law of Oda Nobunaga. And He actually died of the rebellion launched by his son Saito Yoshitatsu.
Before he died ,he wrote a letter to Oda Nobunaga for help. But it’s too late.(you can find all of this on Wikipedia)
Always a good day when BazBattles uploads!
I never would have thought that this kind of stuff would interest me but the animations and narration make this kind of stuff very intense and interesting.
Thank you. I'd love to see more of these sengoku-jidai videos!
Oh my god these are so good, I need more Sengoku Jidai! It just works so well with this format
These videos really are getting better and better.
"Join the light side"
"That's not funny."
NANI???!!!
Man and I thought Richard the Lionheart was a cool epitaph @Zetarn
Star Wars got its inspiration from the samurai, so it fits
please continue with this series, its a great channel and the fact that uve included non-western battles is a great addition so pls finish the entire sengoku period if possible. obviously sekigahara is a must in the series
Awesome! Was just watching the earlier episodes of this series and was waiting for the next one to come out!
_Sighs_ Alright then
*Launches Shogun 2*
Great video! A big "Thank you!" to everyone involved in it's making. ^^
Another superb video and my mandatory like!
This is just a so freaking awesome series, thank you and ParallelPain so much for it!
Wait a minute, this isn't the Otomo Clan gloriously conquering Japan for Christs glory! Are you telling me Shogun 2: Total War isn't historically accurate?
Fredrick Bismark nah this is obviously an alternative history
DEUS VULT!
Fredrick Bismark lol officially devin.

Definitely my favorite clan, but god damn is their start difficult.
Please don't make me replay Shogun gold edition AGAIN.
Why not? Best Total War game imo :)
Oda long ashigaru are best unit in shogun 2 though.
@@rev0126 ez countered with archers or any samurai unit that flanks them
@SanderGhar >not having your own archers and having your flanks protected by katana samurai

They are yariamazing.
We wait so long it ends quickly. Great job as always.
It's crazy to me nobunaga was able to win so many battles and gain control while being in the middle of japan and surrounded by like 40000 enemies.
This series doesn't get enough attention! Please more of this!
Thank you for the great video
Starting 2019 off right by finding this gem of a channel

Yessss more Sengoku Jidai. Keep 'em coming!
I am amazed how much of details have been retained across so many centuries from all those battles!
Good work, keep it going Baz Battles !!!! don't want this channel to stop
more sengoku jidai pls! just came across this channel. amazing work
For all the history channels that's on CZcams today and each with their own style....BazBattles was the first channel I ever saw so for me, it holds number one, always ❤
You know I thought my night couldn't get better. Receives a notification from BazBattles.........YASSS
I just checked your channel yesterday and said "oh I miss Baz battles" thank you for what you are doing and keep making these beautiful videos
Toyotomi Hideyoshi is always worth a mention when it comes to Oda Nobunaga. His life reads something like an unbelievable kind of story of rags to riches through the hell of war, like Barry Lyndon or Gone With the Wind.
Clembo and a hypocrite.. climbing the ranks and then closing that route when he was in power..
@@razgriz821 He was clever, by closing that route he atleast stabilized feudal Japan's society making it less violent
@@razgriz821 it was valid and reasonable. so no one, regardless of class, would ever dream of doing what Hideyoshi had accomplished. He ended sengoku jidai, and it is his duty to preserve peace throughout Japan, which he did during his time.
@@itsrye8001 Still wasn't smarter than Ieyasu who came in and reaped all the rewards from nobunaga's iron fist and Hideyoshi's reform.
@@bmstyle ieyasu gets too much credit. its easy to win when all of your original enemies are dead. his biggest advantage over hideyoshi was that he was younger. he only had to face his weak succesors
Looking forward to seeing the next Installment.
Would love to see a mini series on the Hundred Years War like you did with the first crusade.
And really appreciate your videos! thanks very much for doing this.
ty so much for doing this battle
Great videos. I love the Sengoku Jidai series. I hope that more videos are coming ^^ there are so many battles I want to watch, and more characters' stories to explore. Ganbatte...
Your channel deserves so much more attention. Keep up with the amazing work!
Back on track!!! Keep it coming =) we miss you.
At last! Been waiting for centuries for your next video. BazBattles the best!
Ahhh i need more of this, please 🙏😭
Please please keep going, as someone who lives in Japan this is awesome because there's so much history here but its all complex and confusing asf... nice video!
Sooo good! Thank you!
Thanks for your great work

Very good, thanks for the video
Amazing video! Been waiting for a long time!!!
The best researched battle channel. Love your video
The animation in your videos are better than most games I know of.. Keep it up!!
I love all your videos, but I especially love your Sengoku Jidai vids.
Very good job and fantastic analysing
Nice to know more about these battles in Japanese history. I would love to see more video's like this one.
It's nice to see BB covers war history in a unique region and time period. I think too many of the other similar channels have been covering the same battles with different spins, almost like they are coordinating so they never cover the same battles at the same time. The primary source of this info is probably harder to research and present in this format. I appreciate this!
I really love the sengoku jidai videos, like all of you guy's vids are great, but these ones stand out the most to me
Great video as usual.
The siege of .GIFu Castle just repeated over and over and over again....
I'll give you the like but please shut up.
So happy to look at this kind of vid, informative and fascinating page of (distant) History...Great illustrations/animations...👍👍
Cant wait for more!!

i love these kind of videos
your videos are the best, i like the smooth animations unlike some other channels which rush out content
You make my day guys
Finally another baz battles
Thanks for covering these "minor" fight. Most series on Sengoku Jidai just jump straight from Okehazama to Nobunaga liberated the Tokugawa and is now holding the Shogun hostage make it feel like the whole Imagawa clan just up and die at Okehazama.
These videos are awesome
My fav Daimyo! Love this channel, love this series!
Wasnt oda one of the first leaders in japan to use muskets? Or use them properly ?
@@jonweik4840 there were many before him, he was first to use them tactically well: en masse n volley fire. He split gunners into loaders n shooters, had 3 guns per "team"
Forward thinker and used merit system not birthright for advancement in his "court"
@@khal7702 awesome
He wasn't the Shimazu clan were the first to do it.
I love these about the Sengoku Jidai. I know bits and pieces of the history, but some of these videos have really tied things together and given me a deeper insight. Also I snickered at that hint in the little notes at the end. I don't want to spoil it for anyone so I won't say anything on it. I appreciate finding out about Toyotomi's origin. I knew he was an ashigaru, but to think this is where he rose up from.
Great video
I love watching these battles I can't get enough of them. I would love to see more please.
Your intros get me so excited
Love this series!!!
Yes! More sengoku jidai please!
These are my favorite videos. This whole period intrigued me because of my interest in the Samurai Warriors series

Keep updating please , maybe some battle in WW1/WW2/Civil war :)
Please make more of these!
Great videos
Bro I love your battle videos !! You have to make more sengoku battles !!
oh my god, I cant wait for more
Ashikaga Yoshiaki actually enlisted help from the Asakura after he realized Oda Nobunaga was going to be a huge threat to him. He used Oda Nobunaga to become shogun and then realized he would probably be his puppet. The Asakura realizing this was Nobunaga's plan from the beginning were more than happy to attack Nobunaga and strip him of his ever growing power and influence that was beginning to threaten all of them.
More sengoku jidai plz i love this japanese history.
