Brother, the asl of a person is not that he is salafi. Just like any occupation you can think of. For example the asl of a person is not that he is a doctor or an engineer or a bus driver. The asl of a person is that he is majhool.

It’s indeed a fitnah that those who claim to be salafi associate themselves with ahlul bidah and they are trying to make it as if this is the true methodology of the salaf and the jamhoor of this ummah.

The so called Asharis and their likes.. find it extremely hard to call out the non Muslims and their Kufr..eg (uniting the with the pastors or some hindu pandit etc) They want to unite all with of Humanity they have no principles or basis for their deen whatsoever. Similarly the so called "salafis" like AT and his likes find it extremely hard to call out ahlul bidah. They want to unite with all of the misguided sects with various and beliefs and practices. Abu Taymiyyah seems like a child in a man's world. He doesn't understand the serious implications of his speech. Which shows the sad lack of knowledge he has. Lying, slandering, taking stuff out of context, using a specific rule for something general, and the list goes on and on. May Allah guide him back to the sunnah because this guy is nothing more than a SAHIB HAWA following the path of his predecessors. The earth will chew this guy up, and he will answer for his devious actions. Be careful who chose to be friends with!

Allah named us Muslims not Salafists
You can have 10 guys all with different aqeeda and they all claim to be muslim so how do you distinguish between them to see who is correct? You to this by following the quran and sunnah upon the understanding of the salaf and in short this is salafi. It is an ascription. It is important to clarify your methodology when we are in times of many many deviant sects. At the time of the prophet the jamaat was one and united so we were called Muslims but since a divide has occurred it is imperative to ascribe yourself to true Islam which is salafiya and this is the way of the prophet and sahaba who we are commanded to follow.
Your response proves your ignorance. What's the name of the saved sect? The prophet peace be upon him never called them just Muslims but he specified them as "Al Jama'aa" or the community. Who is Al Jama'aa? The people who follow the Salaf. Therefore, those who follow the Salaf are Salafis or Salafiyun. They were also known as Ahlu Sunnah or Ahlu Al Hadith to distinguish themselves from Ahlu Al Bida or the people of innovation and misguidance. So which sect do you belong to, The saved one or you're just going to follow your desires and claim there is no such thing as the saved sect. By then, you'll be refusing the authentic Sunnah. And Allah knows best.
