That was amazing. Thank you. Very helpful!
I love Dr. Z. He is my kind of cool. And I dig that Cleveland accent.
Great video, doc.
Thanks for sharing.
Love this, thanks! I'm gonna do all this when I go pick up my Cure next week.
Exactly what I needed. Looking for a tube amp now and this will help. Thanks.
No probs with my Maz 18 head...built like the proverbial tank! Thx for the tips Doc
Subscribed! This is a very concise and thorough tutorial. I have never done half of this. Looking for part 2 next. I'm hoping to get a used Orange Crush RT30
same here!
Hello Dr. Z. Your AMA videos have given me a new and desperately needed understanding of the technical intricacies of tube amps. Thank you for explaining it the way you do. Would you consider doing a short video regarding measurements of pickup output using a multimeter and possibly a oscilloscope? Thanks again for all you do!
We aren't exactly qualified to scope a pickup, but you can use any multimeter to read DC resistance of a pickup.
Thanks for the tips Doc! Looking forward to the next one. Cheers!
My pleasure Jason. Read your posts on the latest Tone Talk podcast, thanks for the kind words.
Mike Zaite :) any time my friend. I’ve been looking at a new MAZ 18... gassing for one lately, cheers!
Thanks for this video
Thanks for the tips - very helpful! Is this the first appearance of the new master volume Z-28? Been waiting for this amp!
Indeed it is
Great. Thanks.
Purchased a route 66 made in 1999 in 2005 and then Mars 18 in 2007 only thing I’ve ever done to the amps is change the tubes built rock solid😊
Yes. I'll take it:)
Some used combos suffer from power tube rattle ,my maz 18 never had this problem but my other amp developed tube rattle ordered new tubes shook them sounded like a pepper shaker so now I just use the combo with s separate speaker cab no more tube rattle
Z28 MKII!
Would be very happy to QC a Z-Wreck combo for you ;-) heh My DB4 needs a friend!
Check's in the mail! 😍😁😉
Hey Dr. Z...great work. Where is the flat spot, or unaffected signal, on a tube amp? The use of passive pots suggests to me that “10”, or full, would be correct. Have I got that right? Or do designers make it “5” as many players use that as a base of operations. Thx.
"Flat signal" isn't really a thing in guitar amps as there is signal shaping immediately after the input. In some passive tone stacks, "10" or full up is full signal. But in other tone stacks, there can be a continual tilt to the frequency response, a'la the Jetta or Carmen Ghia.
Were is part 2?
Purchased a Z Plus through Guitar Center online. Big Mistake! Amplifier came and the reverb didnt work...(Shake my head) Returned it reluctantly. It sounded so good!!
probably a bad spring reverb tank that went bad in shipping.
@@DrZAmplification I ordered a new one through MusicStore Live. Its hard to replicate that clean and Overdrive anywhere else!
@@milliesdad8322 welcome to the family! They are a great dealer!
what do you mean by see if the reverb "runs away"?
begins to self oscillate into feedback on it's own without any guitar plugged it
