    Hello Dr. Z. Your AMA videos have given me a new and desperately needed understanding of the technical intricacies of tube amps. Thank you for explaining it the way you do. Would you consider doing a short video regarding measurements of pickup output using a multimeter and possibly a oscilloscope? Thanks again for all you do!

    • @DrZAmplification
      @DrZAmplification  Před 4 lety +1

      We aren't exactly qualified to scope a pickup, but you can use any multimeter to read DC resistance of a pickup.

    Some used combos suffer from power tube rattle ,my maz 18 never had this problem but my other amp developed tube rattle ordered new tubes shook them sounded like a pepper shaker so now I just use the combo with s separate speaker cab no more tube rattle

    Hey Dr. Z...great work. Where is the flat spot, or unaffected signal, on a tube amp? The use of passive pots suggests to me that “10”, or full, would be correct. Have I got that right? Or do designers make it “5” as many players use that as a base of operations. Thx.

    • @DrZAmplification
      @DrZAmplification  Před 4 lety

      "Flat signal" isn't really a thing in guitar amps as there is signal shaping immediately after the input. In some passive tone stacks, "10" or full up is full signal. But in other tone stacks, there can be a continual tilt to the frequency response, a'la the Jetta or Carmen Ghia.

      begins to self oscillate into feedback on it's own without any guitar plugged it
