    The Older Athletes series was fantastic, but it's great to see the AAA channel back out adventuring again.

    The Isle of Rum, located off the west coast of Scotland, is a picturesque gem in the Inner Hebrides. With its rugged landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich history, Rum offers a true escape into nature. From the towering peaks of the Cuillin hills to the tranquil shores, this island is a paradise for hikers, nature enthusiasts, and those seeking solitude amidst breathtaking scenery. Explore its ancient ruins, spot red deer roaming freely, and marvel at the abundance of birdlife. Whether you're camping under the stars or discovering its hidden coves, the Isle of Rum promises an unforgettable adventure. As always❤

    Hi Simon, great video...as always! It brought back so many memories. I was lucky enough to visit Rum in 1971 (I think) with the Lakes School, Windermere. Probably 20 pupils and 4 teachers. We climbed all over the Rum Cullin, bivvied at Papidil (supposed to be haunted!) and visited Guirdil. Which was a ruin then, I remember we all careered down to the beach from the summit!
    We had a great 2 weeks in fantastic weather only I nights rain, the Kinloch River rose and washed our sausages away!😲😂
    That expedition confirmed my path which I'm still following 53 years later.
    Thanks again, ATB Alistair 👍
    PS we never found any Bloodstone!

    Great to see you out and about with the AAA CEO. You should have a sponsorship by the Scottish Tourism Board. Maybe a new series Bothies of Scotland is in the wind. Keep up the good fun!

    Brilliant video! Such beautiful scenery. Funny that you were searching for bloodstone and there it was all along in the kitchen! Speaking of bloodstone and miracle powers and cures, could you do a video on the 5 Tibetan Rites for your Older Athletes series? Supposedly the rites can turn back the clock on our bodies, but it would be nice to get an impartial journalist’s take.

      I don’t believe stone has any special powers but people certainly did.
      I hadn’t heard about the 5 Tibetan Rites. They seem to be yoga poses, and I’ve done yoga for flexibility for a while. Those 5 involve a couple which, in most practices, you’d not go straight into - particularly Camel - you’d warm up first and include it towards the end of practice if it’s available to your body shape.
      I’m not at all into the spiritual side of yoga, but the movement seems to help with balance and flexibility. We subscribe to Ekhart Yoga who have a 5 Rites session.

    Interesting as always and had me dashing to my geology books to find out more about Bloodstone. It seems to be able to cure and prevent almost anything if you believe in it enough!

    What a rugged landscape to explore. Is your dog a Border Terrier? My sister has two of them. They are quite animated and energetic dogs. This breed is uncommon in Canada.

    • @alwaysanotheradventure
      @alwaysanotheradventure  Před 3 měsíci

      That is Maggie, she is a Border Terrier (well spotted) and has her own channel if you're interested 😁 (@MaggieTheBorderTerrier)

    • @alwaysanotheradventure
      @alwaysanotheradventure  Před 3 měsíci +1

      There are two tracks doable on bikes - village to Kilmory (easy) and village to Harris (steep and hard).
