I'm actually surprised that France hasn't hosted Miss Universe in recent memory. Knowing France (wink wink), MU would definitely be supported there.
I am so happy Miss France finally gets the international recognition it deserves! The production is always amazing and every year it’s one of the Top 5 most watched televised events (only soccer ranks higher 😂) and I love that each girl gets her moment on stage bc it seems like such a special experience!

Exactly right? I thought Miss Universe 2017 was going to be in Paris... but I guess that's too expensive after it was held in Manila. But I hope in 2020 it will be hosted in South Africa! But again, I doubt that will happen after this pandemic...

Hey Dani! Honestly, Miss France is the best National Pageant I have ever watched and they are super consistent every year. For me, I could be wrong, no offense intended, some of their queens feel less hyped up in international pageants because Miss France is serving everything to them.
I wish MUO will take Miss France's level in terms of production as an insipration to do better, to make up with 2019's production.

France is overflowing in production value! It is the definition of glamour and a G R E A T S H O W. ✨ There's a balance of knowing the girls in a deeper level and being mesmerized by them on stage. And yes Dani, you should go to Miss France.

The caliber of this pageant.. just wow.. after watching all of the miss USAs on CZcams during quarantine, the amount of entertainment value and showmanship for miss France is UNMATCHED, wow. If miss USA would ever be able to do put on a production even remotely close to this, that would be incredible.

Hello, Dani! Being French, I am delighted that our national contest fascinates you so much! I have also watched several Miss USA pageants and it's true that it's completely different... I will try to get your video uploaded to Miss France Organisation so that they can contact you to eventually invite you to the Miss France 2021 election! It would be a real honor for us to have an American in our audience, it would be a first in 100 years !

This pageant is INCREDIBLE!! I could not look away (and I would not have wanted to anyway). The whole thing was a showstopper in beauty and spectacle and I cannot wait to see what they come up with next year! I cannot imagine anything more powerful or intriguing, but I know they will top it somehow. This pageant truly showed the world that women are powerful and beautiful and unique in so many ways. They embraced diversity and it made my heart swell with joy to see them look like they were genuinely enjoying the experience. Life is so short, and I could tell that they were making the most of every second of it.

At Miss Puerto Rico it’s a process. They do castings all over the island. They get called back, some make it, some don’t get elected as a official contestants. The official group represent whichever of the 78 municipalities in the island. And after all the girls are selected officially they get coached throughout the entire competition as they are competing before prelims and finals. That’s why they do SOOOOO GOOD.

And the production is like this every year since decades. It is the biggest show in the entertainement division ( out of sports) with 10 milions viewers for decades. For USA, instead of like an opening number or introductions for the beginning of Final Night they should have like a runway/fashion show and they could like give the girls a moment to kill it on the runway and also they should get some better camera crews and editing because like France’s is so fun and spectacular and USA compared to that is just boring. No shade to USA though I love watching the pageant regardless. Also, the USA is where Miss Universe is based so like I feel like their pageant should be better than the other ones.
Yes, I agree, I believe in 2012 and 2013 they had some sort of runway opening. I forget which year, but I think they should bring it back :) Introductions at USA are so fasts. You catch about a second of a contestants face.

First of all you look like a miss France! I was sent a video of miss France 2019 because I love pageant and miss Tahiti was in miss France as a region representative, and a family friend, and won miss France . As an America who luv pageant I was blown away by miss France production! WHAT! I've been to miss USA, miss America, and miss Universe pageants and I never saw a production like this. Thank you for doing a recap, so glad you thought it was fabulous to. Your reaction and analysis was awesome! For another unusual pageant, check out miss Tahiti on you tube. Hearing you trying to pronounce the French regions was really the highlight of my lockdown, but you did so well for a non French speaking person!!!
Just so you know, Miss France can choose whether she goes to MU or MW. In 2018, Maeva Coucke chose to go to MW and her 1stRU Eva Colas went to MU. In 2019, MF Vaimalama Chaves expressed her will not to go neither to MU nor MW. Her 1st RU Ophély Mézino was eventually sent to MW where she placed 1stRU, and Maeva Coucke was offered the opportunity to go to MU ! Also, a groupe trip is organised during the month of training with all the girls, that’s why they spend so many time together before the actual show! In addition, they have to practice and rehearse for the final show which involves a lot of choreographies to learn, and I think it should be highlighted how much work there is for the girls to put on a show like this !

Omg so satisfying seeing this video. Thank you so much. The singer is Robbie Williams, he is really known he sang in the 2018 opening ceremony for the football World Cup In Moscow. For miss France 2018 we had Ed Sheraan which seems pretty amazing. Concerning the present all the 30 girls have gifts as the dress they wore during the Japan segment, or things they gave them during the month before the show (luggage, make up,...). Plus they traveled together to Tahiti which is a really nice gift as the won their regional pageant.
Ah that would explain it, I only watch UFC lol. Oh wow, Ed Sheran is great. I wish USA had given us a trip. We got invited to NYFW but we all had to pay for the trip. That's why many of us couldn't attend.

As for Miss France pageant, for me if I could choose it as a religion, damn right I would and I do understand the Filipino people here 🤣 I watch it every year and I force my family to watch it as well lol
I'm really happy that this pageant finally gets the recognition it's due, 'cause the work behind it is HUGE! And when you see the girls sent at international pageants, you see the work behind it, an how they really do want to represent their country with pride! Ophély Mézino (last year's Guadeloupe) represented France at miss World 2019 finishing 1st RU and MW Europe and it was broadcasted the afternoon of the day of the Miss France show, so when the top 2 appeared with Guadeloupe being part of it, Provence was the hometown girl but I literally could hear through my screen the crowd cheering loudly for Guadeloupe because of the uplifting performance of the afternoon.
I could literally write a whole page of it, but I'll stop there xD In any case, thank you Dani for giving of your time to review our pageant, and I hope it can be an inspiration for other big pageants such as Miss USA!

Yes, you're so right. When you come from a fantastic pageant, your national title means a lot more to represent internationally. I've heard that a lot of people say that being Miss France is more life changing than being Miss Universe. The queens lives are truly changed. I love to hear that type of quality coming from a pageant.

As French I’m so happy you did a review of the Miss France competition ! Yeah it’s very popular in our country ! Everyone knows the Miss France winner 🇫🇷. Don’t know if Miss USA is also popular in your country like here in France 🤔 . This year competition was in my hometown but I was enable to go ... so sad 😞. I watch others national pageant (Miss USA 🇺🇸, Miss Universe Canada 🇨🇦 & of course Miss Universe 🌍) since a couple of years and it’s very different but all the format are super great ! It would be a great opportunity for France to have a Miss Universe edition and this time I wouldn’t want to miss it 🙏🏽. Hi ! Thanks for your review! I am french and for us miss france is a huge deal. Miss france gets better salary, oportunities and travels more during her reign than Miss universe. For us miss universe is not really important, what matters is Miss france. Iris said in an interview that she had a less glamorous reign as miss universe than her miss france reign.
You should definatly come for the next miss france pageant! I'll be more than happy to meet you there and maybe enjoy the show with my friends all together ! And we can teach you some stuff about our french culture !

Nicely done Miss Walker. Miss France 2020 is in quarantine in Guadeloupe. So not as much exposure for her because of that, except on the island & on social media. Let's hope before the end of this year everything will be back to normal

Miss France is a real show. It is not like miss USA. In miss France, before the 15 announcement, each candidate is on stage 4 times, plus the introduction video for each of them.
Miss USA and other pageants in "latin America", are more simple: the opening, contestants introduction, then top 15 or top 10... swimsuit, evening gowns, questions and crowning.
Miss France has a theme, choreography, dancers, costumes, originality... one of the best shows ever.

The production value is quite spectacular. I used to get excited with the annual Miss USA & Miss Venezuela pageants! Then my Mom said that the Miss USA and Miss Venezuela pageants in 80's & 90's events were better editions! Currently, no more disclosures of great prizes nor they have a good production value, in other words, mother got bored and stopped watching them pageants with me, ha! I'm grateful for this CZcams technology where I'm able to make comparisons, so far, Miss France, Miss South Africa, Miss Philippines or Miss Thailand pageants are my favorite local pageants. Well, another enjoyable video and perhaps it's time for France to host the Miss Universe pageant but I have a feeling that Zozibini would like to give up her crown in South Africa. I wish in Miss USA they would give the girls a moment like in miss universe to wear an outfit that represents what state your from the girls get to do that in miss America with the show us your shoes parade and I think it would be cool and definitely more enjoyable to watch the intros

Laurel Grace they used to have a state costume segment at Miss USA! It was dropped in the early 90s. Really wished that it would make a comeback!
The producers of this show is endemol which is the creator of big brother i think. This explains why the production is amazingly extra.
Miss france, Miss russia, Bb pilipinas , Miss U thailand, miss venezuela, miss usa and miss south africa are my fave national pageants. Production value and entertainment value is top notch.

That's why in France the international crown are not so important than in other country. Fo exemple the preparation trip was in Tahiti etc Win the election transform your life : appartement in Paris for a year, tv shows etc. So most of the girls are here juste for the national title

I can had an other fact for you about that pageant : Each year the crown is different and the winner can keep it after her reign ( in fact, they made two : one remains in the organization and the other is the property of the miss ).

Great recap Dani as always, I've followed this pageant since 2007 and I really like it. Have you seen Miss Italy, it's also another lever of pageantry although they no longer send the winner to Miss Universe.
I've not checked that one out yet. I was wondering what happened to Miss Italy at Universe.
@@DaniWalker Hi Dani, well Miss Italia last year was actually very poor but a couple of years ago it was entertaining almost like a fashion weak catwalk with high fashion designers. Simple but very elegant, very Italian.

Hi Dani, you should really watch Miss Beauty of The Netherlands. In this dutch pageant we chose our Miss Earth, Miss Intercontinental, Miss Teenager Universe, Miss Asia Pacific and Top Model of the World. It is such a great show! (Due to COVID-19 all pageants in the Netherlands are cancelled till September 1st. So I hope we can select our titleholders before all the international pageants start). P.S. Love your vids

Dani Walker Yes! The pageant is live streamed (for free) on youtube and later posted on Vimeo (due to copyright). And fun fact, all the girls that compete at Nationals first compete at their provinces. We all get intensive training before our province and national pageant! 😘
Last year's miss France refused to take part in miss universe because she wanted to attend miss France and after miss universe 2019 I think she made good decision
At first I didn't understand her decision, now it really makes sense.

Miss France does an incredible job with production. I’m glad you mentioned the cultural test. Because i never understood how a territory winner would know that much about France when she doesn’t live there. I feel the territories should compete in International pageants on their own. The winner always used to compete at Miss World and Miss Universe. Lately these 2 pageants are around the same time. So the winner chooses which one she wants to go to and the 1st RU goes to the other. Last years winner chose not to go to any pageant. The 1st RU went to Miss World but instead of sending the 2nd RU to Miss Universe. They sent the 2018 winner to MU. Which was funny because she turned it down to go to MW in her year. Yes you should go in 2021 and I would love to go with you. Thanks for the recap stay safe and healthy.

Miss France also brings out some A Listers too I remember Ed Sheehan performing and the person who announced Iris when she won was Jean Paul Gaultier. Not surprising though as France is a country that celebrates all things beautiful and refine.

What Miss Germany is that? Not the one that goes to Universe because their age limit is under 28 as the the year of competition.

This is why competing at miss world and miss universe isn't a big deal for the winners, its more of a downgrade from competing at miss France. Fun fact: Miss France always has to be present on the coronation night to crown her successor, so if an international pageant falls on the same day she can't compete at it.

Miss France is BY FAR the best country pageant that I have ever seen. You can find most of the old ones on CZcams. I have watched them all. It’s usually around Christmas time so it’s always a holiday event. SOOOOOOO much better than Miss Universe or Miss USA.

Some of us who have been watching Miss France for years have this mentality ready. Miss USA and Miss Universe really need the organization from Miss France to help them in their pageant productions (even with business decisions) 'cause the Miss France live telecast looks very expensive, and is executed gorgeously!

First I think the fist musical performer was Robbie Williams, a Brit of Take That fame. Second, that was a SHOW! Your Victoria's Secret comparison is spot on. It's obvious they spent big money which I think is key to their success. They're obviously getting significant financial support from sponsors which is why they likely feature them prominently in the telecast. And I'm sure they have an abundance of sponsors given the viewership. That's how television works and they've obviously figured it out. Would be great for you to go especially next year for the 100 year celebration. But if not 2021 any opportunity to go would be amazing I'm sure.
