While what you explained is perfectly true, and might even apply to the Philippines, who sometimes gets accused of sending "non-Filipino" delegates who do not have full Filipino blood. It is simple to look at this whole idea from the point of view of citizenship. I wish it were that simple, really. Consider these:
      1. A Mexican who grew up in America by illegal immigrant parents... she will always be technically Mexican, but her "home" for her will always be America. MAYBE SHE IS REALLY AN AMERICAN.
      2. A young person who never felt she belonged to the country where she was born, because her immigrant parents are not from there either, and she never felt quite a sense of belongingness, and felt that people awkwardly looked at her as a "foreigner". MAYBE SHE REALLY ISN'T FROM THAT COUNTRY AFTER ALL.
      3. An African-American who is born in and lived only in that same country but is always treated like a criminal or a low class citizen, as if she is unworthy. IS THAT REALLY WHAT CITIZENSHIP IS??
      4. A European who has decided to live permanently in Thailand because he feels that he is more of a Thai than a European, just by his lifestyle, way of thinking, and feeling at home with the Thai people. DOES HE BECOME THAI BY CHOICE?
      Just thoughts... about the complicated world in which we live.

To be able to even join BBP; you have to have a Filipino citizenship. To even represent BPCI in any beauty pageant as well, especially Miss Universe, you have to have only one citizenship which is Filipino, you cannot have both. So, in both legal documents, she is a FILIPINO, not Australian. She’s lived in the Philippines in her early teens, and she has lost that Australian citizenship many years ago even before she competed for Miss World Philippines! Check facts please. Dual citizenship is not allowed to represent the Philippines at any international level. Sports or beauty pageant.

      @rrhotj Před 4 lety +5

      Ken Rize i did! But i find miss australia not even worthy to call catriona a threat, if she was nowhere near catriona’s caliber.
      In tennis, it is like maria sharapova calling serena williams a threat or a rival but if you take a look at their so called “rivalry” sharapova has never beaten serena since the bush administration.
      For me, in my opinion ( just like how you have your own opinion) Miss australia can only call catriona her threat if she herself is s worthy threat to catriona. And she is nowhere near that level. You cannot call it a threat or a rival if the opponent could not even give the other a run for her money. The person/s who can call catriona as a “ threat” is either miss south africa or miss venezuela. There.

      @Ken Bugawisan nopeeeeeee i disagree... Catriona had the ability and talents, but without hardwork itll be nothing.. the reason why phil were a powerhouse of beauty pageants its simply because of their coaches who share them their knowledge and advices on how to answer questions effectively...before the coronataion , catriona did a hell of a training on how to captivate Audience with her walk and how to answer question concisely..... So if catriona represents Australia, its not guaranteed that shell win, because we all know that Australia is not that known in having good coach and training for their candidate, thats why they are not known as a strong contender in miss u...( Sorry for bad english)
