The table saw sled drawer is pure genius.
And if you have accessories for the sled (like stop blocks and so on) you can store inside it.
Try doing the same with the sled attached to a French cleat wall. 😬
Yup
Genau
I know, right? One of those things that is so obviously brilliant you can't figure out why it hasn't been done before.
What Chainsaw said... simply genius. Cool build. Thanks for sharing.
The "an engineer plans/builds shop furniture" energy here is wonderful.
Precision means everything.
I can’t even tell you how excited I am to build this, I’ve procrastinated making my workspace functional because I couldn’t find a design that worked for it… this is PERFECT! And it looks beautiful too! I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything so fast and let me tell you, your plans are some of the best ones I’ve seen, so perfectly explained, even mentioning where to cut to haul the wood home, I can not tell you how much I appreciate that as a woman who can’t handle a sheet of plywood no matter how hard I try. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, you can always tell when someone enjoys what they do!
Thank you!!! I’m glad you like it, and let me know if you have any questions or run into any problems.
Hi Jer, it is so great to see you producing videos again. Great job thanks
This is an awesome concept. Combine these modular drawers with Zack Freedman’s Gridfinity system and it could be the perfect DIY shop storage for any space and hobby. Love the stealth sled idea, too.
That's exactly what this reminded me of, too :-)
I went to the comments to write the same thing!
The issue is that Gridfinity is 42mm and the drawer dimensions here are 375x450. So the grids would not work out to even numbers, it's like 8.9 grids deep and 10.7 wide. It might work to scale some Gridfinity prints to a 25mm base grid, but then it's not really the same system, and a lot of the exact fit things like battery holders wouldn't be right anymore. IMO 25mm would've been a much better base dimension because it's basically 1 inch with a little extra room for tolerance.
@@JoshSamuelson Yes, though I suppose the plate prints could be modified around the edges to add non-gridfinity storage. So the majority of the drawer would be compatible and the edges would still be usable.
@@OhHeyTrevorFlowers Oh I guess that's true and it would help for storing long narrow things like rulers! Maybe I'll give that a try for my existing Gridfinity stuff, rather than re-print everything in a 25mm standard.
Jer I am 63 and have been watching your videos so long I feel like I watched you grow up. You have taught me that those tiny little lines on a tape measure are VERY IMPORTANT. LOL Also there is no reason to rush through anything. If you don't have time to do it right, How will you have the time to do it over? Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing.
Here is someone who truly understands modular design. Amazing flexibility and thought through down to the raw material level.
When you slid the table saw sled out my jaw literally dropped. I’ve seen some ingenious ideas on CZcams but, wow… just brilliant.
I bought your grinder plans last year and started collecting parts. Today I bought the steel to go with the motor and VFD. Glad to see your are doing well.
It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2x2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better czcams.com/users/postUgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . It is also starting to bow a little at the outer wall ( I've had it up for about 6 months), I've already had a shelf tumble down because of the bow and the fact that the little shelf brackets are quite short. I went out to home depot and got some longer ones so that the shelves don't tumble down again. Overall, it looks very nice for the price and it holds a lot ( I use it as a pantry). I am very satisfied with my purchase. I just strongly suggest reinforcing it before putting it up.
Incredible versatility -- it's impressive how many you've produced. Sounds kind of addicting to just keep adding more modules...
All brilliant. That’s my 2023 sorted
Glad to see you’re still around, making, posting videos, and most importantly doing well.
BRO! This is Genius! just too add a suggestion, could this work if done built 1 single drawer too snap together like legos! could add even more ways to stack together and makes moving them a breeze. Anyway, your entire settup, in my opinion, the best build for a workshop and adds the most convenience! which is what we all try to achive, right? Make our projects more fun!
It is a pleasure to watch you work. You are an incredibly good communicator, and thank you for posting. Cheers from Australia.
This is a very clever system. And I would like to personally thank you for using metric as much as you can
Thanks! Luckily I was able to use metric on this one because the plywood is a metric thickness. For many projects (especially metal stuff) I can’t get metric material, so I’m kind of forced to use the nonsense system.
@@Jer_Schmidt +1 Thanks for using Metric. Fully agree - here in N America we are still stuck using the System-Based-On-The-Width-of-the-Kings-Toe. Drives me crazy. And particularly because no one knows how to use Imperial. Can we just put it to rest finally.
Anyone want proof that nobody knows how to use it ?
Simple - ask your neighbour : “How big is an acre ?”
Welcome back! Praying you’re at a healthy place in life. I echo so many comments about this video. Well thought out design is an understatement.
You owe the community nothing but grateful you’re back putting out content.
Thank you!
And… thx for the metric measurements. I’ve been designing and 3D printing lately to add to my workshop. Working in that system over imperial measurements is so much easier (IMHO).
Looking forward to the "Nerd Out" video! Nicely done sir!
Glad to see more videos from you. Hopefully get to see your shop evolve with more of your fantastic builds.
Your sense of detail and modularness, interchangeability is the same direction my brain likes to go. I honor your self-discipline and achievements!
Good to see an excellent project from you again.
Amazing system as always! Can’t wait for the full nerd out vid. And PLEASE don’t make us wait so long for your videos, we all love to see you work on your projects and you have a great engineering mind that makes you solve even the tiniest of problems with the most clever ideas.
Yes! Looking forward to you nerding out on the design. I have always appreciated your design considerations. Also, genius on the cross cut sled!
Great to see you posting again Jer! Fantastic design & execution on that modular cabinet system. Looking forward to the follow up videos. Be well. 👍👍
Excellent work once again Jer! I look forward to seeing future videos and watching what I'm sure will be an ever continuing evolution of design.
Great to see you back and what a great project you've developed. Thanks for your work and sharing it with us.
It's great to see you so excited about a project, and rightfully so. The design is brilliant. It really is great to have you back.
I don't have much to say. Just posting this to boost your engagement, as more people should definitely see your work!
Brilliant!!! So versatile for any shop, and amazingly clever solutions. Can't wait for the nerd out video!
It’s really good to have you posting videos again. I remember seeing the indexable table saw fence you built years ago. Virtually every one of your subsequent videos has been as unique and unbelievably detailed. You are both inspiring and intimidating. 😊 I wish I had seen this cabinet system 40 years ago so I could have incorporated it in my shop. It’s so flexible and comprehensive. Thanks again, Jer.
Ohhhh! Cool! A new video! Good to see you back here.
Thank you Jeremy, for these useful and clever cabinets!
Awesome build! Can't wait to see your "nerd out" video on these
It is a pleasure to watch you work, it is so great to see .
incredible and thoughtful design - love the modularity
Impressive, both in concept and actual result.
Always appreciate your videos. The depth test with the screw is brilliant.
Great seeing your mind at work again.
Absolutely stunning work, Jer. I want a hundred of these
So well done and thought out like everything else you do Jeremy! Thanks for the inspiration😊
Glad to see you posting again, continuing to pray for you!
I was expecting nothing, but a thorough execution of this project and it not only met them, it exceeded them! Great Job, Jer.
Welcome back Jer!! So glad to see you back again! Was starting to worry
Man this is right on time. In the next month or so I've made it a priority to do some shop reorganizing including new cabinets. Glad I'm seeing this before I got started!
As always, amazing build and such thoughtful construction. Unbelievable detail here 👏
These are so awesome! The thought that went into each detail is very evident. Now I need to build these for my shop.
Love seeing your thoughtful approach to the projects you take on. Keep up the outstanding work!
WoW! I cant wait to try this out...probably the best storage design on YT.
This is awesome! I think I know what kind of cabinets I'm gonna make for my shop now! Plus the bonus is I'll be able to take them with me when I move in the future. Genius
Love love love this design so much!! A man after my own heart, per usual. I've actually been thinking similarly after my most recent move with my miter saw station. The intention for that was for it to fit any space, but my new space is so weirdly shaped that it can't work efficiently in there. Ultimately it's really just a bank of cabinets that happens to hold a miter saw.
Believe it or not, my favorite part of this whole build may have been the drawer assembly jig haha.
Thanks! I was worried people would think making the drawer jig was more work than it was worth, but most comments seem to be in favor of even more jigs.
Very clever ideas. I’ve never come close to desiring a CNC router, but if I were to build a shop full of these, you better believe I would be dreaming of won the whole time! Thanks for sharing, Scott
Thanks!
CNC is overrated in my opinion. It might be worth using for this, but barely. Only if you’re making a lot of them. I left my CNC machines behind when I moved and I don’t plan to ever replace them.
@@Jer_Schmidt Oh, I'm not a CNC guy, but you are right, that's a lot of repetitive work. Yes, if I were to make these I probably would want to fill my shop with them. I'm more of a jigs and fixtures guy, so I would have to make templates and fixtures to whip these out. Again, I really like this idea. Scott
No idea about wood working but just love to watch your amazing ideas taking shape! Thanks for sharing and hoping for more videos.
Brilliant! Also love the cross cut sled place.
Your ingenuity and attention to detail never cease to amaze me!! You're brilliant!!
What an awesome surprise to see a Jeremy Schmidt video pop up in my feed today. Glad to see you are back making content.
Your explanation is so comprehensive and I am loving it!
OMG table saw sled draw is genius. Love it. This will be my workshop design. I could imagine a drawer is table saw sled, another is 90 degree table saw sled, and so on.
Awesome! I can see that a lot of thought has gone into this design. I love the flexibility and interchangeable parts. The sled drawer is a killer, brilliant.
Hello Jeremy - it is so good to see you making stuff and posting videos. I have missed you.
Your stuff is always so ridiculously well thought out! At least I know what I'm doing now when I need to make some shop furniture & storage. Keep up the awesome work!
Astonishing attention to detail as always. Can't wait for the long video.
So well thought out - product design, construction and assembly - impressive
The plans are equally great. A solid feature to accompany the video (and a great value too!) thanks
Good to see you again knocking it out of the park again my friend.
The space in the back of the drawers could be ideal for some counterweights if you want to store some heavy stuff in top drawers and don't flip entire cabinet.
Brilliant design! And thanks for building it with simple tools and no fancy joints!
I am very glad that your videos began to come out more often than in the previous period of time. Even before I started watching, I already realized that this video deserves a like, at least.
Very cool idea! Someday, when I have my own opportunity to get a workshop, I will definitely return to your videos and plans to do the same for myself!
Thank you, Jer!
Well done Jer. I used one of your previous designs on a rolling workbench I built. Now I have a new shop and I’ll be making some of these.
you are some kind of genius. your videos are amazing. you edit out redundant information while keeping the essence intact. huge fan. thanks.
Outstanding design. It solves so many issues with one plan. Well done, sir!
Wow. This is brilliant.
I especially love the bit about your drawer assembly, you take that to the next level.
Really, REALLY well done.
Man I loved this jigg/template for the drawer building part! Amazing work
Great video, glad to see you back on a regular basis
This is almost exactly what i have been messing with in sketch-up for the past few months. Great concept and very well executed. Really nice design features and details.
Great to see you back!
Jer. I find these fascinating and I’m going to buy the plans. I appreciate all of the thought you’ve put into this system and I can see myself building these for a lot of different purposes. Thank you.
Man, I just worked out that top “drawer” is a table saw sled, you Sir are an ideas man!
I love this channel! In a sea of average channels in this genre yours it truly unique, some great stuff coming out of here. Love it! Keep up the great work!
Really great to see you again, I hope you're doing well! This was a really cool system and I love how much effort you put into it and the plans.
This really inspired me to make a similar system for my kitchen in the Tiny-house I will be building this year.
Jeez, jer, where have you been?? Hope you’re doing well, we all love your videos and your engineering skills! Please don’t be gone so long 🤟🏽😎
I spend so much time designing these projects… 😫 I’m trying to get better at just making a “version one” of something without putting so much effort into it upfront, hopefully that will mean more frequent uploads. Anyway, thank you!!
@@Jer_Schmidt The fact that everything that comes out of your shop is designed and built to such high refinement, even if the end product isnt exactly made from fancy materials, is what makes me watch all of your videos as soon as they release.
Small details such as inner dimensions of the drawers being made to fit standard size parts boxes with no wasted space is something that you didnt need to think about, but you did because it makes the end result better.
Maybe you dont produce as quickly as might be possible, but the extra time, care, and thought you put into your work is extremely apparent, and you should be very proud of what you make. :)
Amazing how you use imperial and metric systems at the same time,,, yet confusing :)
CONGRATULATIONS for the concept and simple design.
Looks incredible! I am waiting for the day when I have my own shop and appropriate tools to build your designs.
The clarity and thoughtfulness in the way you explain your process and design is so beautiful. I admire your efficiency and humility. Thanks for making this video
Dude your one of the most inspiring guys on this platform. The detail and thoughtfulness put into most of your crafts is truly amazing
I remember you from years ago with your original drawer system. You, sir, are a badass. You're going to go far.
In steel and plywood your attention to precision is priceless and inspiring. Thanks for sharing.
I wish I saw this before building a small cabinet to go under the extension wing of my table saw. This is so fantastic and insanely well thought out. Bought the plans, you can never have too many drawers. Well done, Jer!!
Your attention to detail is insane. Well done my friend. What a great design
this is very satisfying. engineering behind every detail is on another level, and the amount of care put into videos? 10 out of 10
I can see a lot it though has gone into these modules and it’s paid off there brilliant
These are amazing! As a crafter I can see these being used in my craft room and you explain everything so well. Thank you!
The attention to the details is another level, shout out from Saudi Arabia.
Great seeing you again.
Hope you're doing great !
You are the man, even though i don´t build things myself it´s pure bliss to watch your videos in every way.
Boy, you have lots of time on your hands! Awesome cabinets!
Another well thought out project. I always look forward to your new videos
I've been watching your videos since the belt grinder v1. You have a great mind for engineering. These drawers are great and the sled/draw is a pretty cool idea. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to the nerd out video.
As soon as you pulled the crosscut sled out I immediately subscribed! Brilliant!!
Excellent video and a great project with a lot of thought put into the entire build. Thanks for the great video, I'll be ordering your plans as soon as etsy isn't overloaded with hits.
You sound even more empassioned than you did when you did the original belt grinder video. Great to see! And your machinist skills make you so talented at working with ply in the way you do.
This is such a brilliant design it makes me sick. This should be a billion dollar idea. I am in awe
