William West Anderson, professionally known as Adam West, was an American actor. He portrayed Batman in the 1960s ABC series of the same name and its 1966 theatrical feature film, reprising the role in other films and television shows until his retirement from live-action appearances

He may have failed Quagmire but he definitely did not fail us. Rip you absolute legend
So the whole “Adam West is a crazy guy” bit originated in Johnny Bravo and then went to Family Guy and Fairly Oddparents who each milked it as much as it would go. Seth Mcfarlane, creator of Family Guy and Butch Hartman, creator of Fairly Oddparents both were the credited writers of the Johnny Bravo episode where Adam west first showed up. So this is an idea that has been in their heads for a long time and they both liked it so much they continued it independently on their own shows.
But it also made Adam West a bigger legend and known for more than being Batman as well.
He was also going to be on a show called Lookwell but they only did a pilot episode. It's on youtube, type in "Adam West Lookwell " He plays a has been actor from a TV cop show that tries to help out the police in real life by working undercover but really sticks out like a bad actor doing every cliche in the book.

I love that in every portrayal of Adam west in animation he’s always acting like he’s completely bonkers, just like someone said below I bet they didn’t write any dialogue for him instead they just gave him the scene set up and told him to say whatever came to mind
