  • I'm installing an OBD2 Port on my 2001 Corvette PCM utilizing the fusebox. In this video, I make the OBD2 port fully functional on my project. This is easy to DIY if you are working on an LS Swap or just want to add an OBD2 port to any GM PCM.

    One step closer!! This is also great because there's a lot of people out there running into this same problem with the custom build they're working on, adding an OBD-II port to their build like you've shown should help them a ton. Nice!!

      Yep! I'm surprised at how easy it was to add this. Literally four connections and you have all the information at your fingertips.

    Best video about this I’ve seen, everything is so vague

      Thanks. I appreciate it. That was my inspiration of this video. Figured it would be good just to look at the book, determine what the wires are and then show exactly the locations for this application.

    One of those things most of us take for granted I think.

    • @SmackeysGarage

      Definitely is. I was surprised at how easy it is to hook it up.

      @Smackey's Garage I was too. Didn't look too bad.

    Have you had the pcm programmed as stand alone? I got mine done and they turned off MAF, evap, vats and made it manual and it fired right up! Now I need to wiring in my obd2 for tuning. Video was super helpful 🤘🏼😁

      @SmackeysGarage  Před 10 měsíci

      Yes I have. The MAF and EVAP is still on, but it has been changed to manual and had VATS deleted since it is a kit car and no longer a Corvette! Thanks for the feedback on the video! I have a later video that shows me figuring out the issue and getting it started. The wiring for the coils was swapped side to side.

    Please, what's the name of the book you used? Can I download such book and the one for other makes online?

      This is probably the best resource I have found online. I know the site is called LT1 swap, but they have most (if not all) the LS1 diagrams. The book is a service manual from a 2001 Corvette.

    What particular line is the obd2 wire linked to the ECU? Please, what ECU wires are used?

      On mine, it was pin 58 on the blue connector. The serial data line.

    So my signal wire would be my mil wire ?

    • @SmackeysGarage
      @SmackeysGarage  Před 3 měsíci

      So the MIL Light is an on/off pin. The signal wire sends the data to the reader

    Did you run the obd2 data wire straight to the pcm?

  • @coconut_milk7167
    @coconut_milk7167 Před 10 měsíci

    Does the signal wire have power coming from the pcm because mine does not and I can’t get my scanner to connect

    • @SmackeysGarage
      @SmackeysGarage  Před 9 měsíci

      It should be a data line and not a straight voltage line. Do you have power to the other wire on the connector? You should have some always on power to the pcm and then a switched source to the pcm.

      @@SmackeysGarage I do have power and it’s grounded it’s just not communicating for some reason I maybe buy a new obd2 part and re wire the thing

    Four fewer wires to run!
