  • Ji is the youngest musician to win the New York Philharmonic Young Artists Competition at just 10 years of age. Ji went on to claim the First Prize in the 2012 Young Concert Artists International Auditions. Ji came to international attention before a televised audience of millions in the highly unconventional Android® commercial that premiered during the 2016 Grammy® Awards. His ‘monotune’ performance of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata on dual pianos was so compelling that People Magazine declared Ji “the real star of the Grammys”. Ji has recorded two CDs: Bach Exhibition on the Credia label, and Lisztomania with Credia/Universal Music. He graduated from the Juilliard School, and is based in Brooklyn.
While Ji is in his home town for creative collaborations with various artists in Korea, he sat down with Googlers to talk about his inspirations, motivations to his musical journeys, and what it is like to be a concert pianist, who continuously interprets and articulates musical pieces that are centuries apart.
