Mr Russell Greer I could not agree more. I believe the word is "sic": that was sic. (sick?) not getting into semantics. to me that was a creative way to bring back an oldie. smooth. who does that? I'm starting to appreciate his genius.
Listen to the original on Disraeli Gears. Lore has it that the first notes of the solo were consciously quoting Blue Moon. He just takes it further here, as if to underline the point.
I used to not like Clapton even though I knew he was brilliant. I now know that my dislike of the guy was purely the msm manipulating me. This guy is more than han good. Fuk the msm. And the drug squad!
This is one of my favorite cold starts to any concert. Talent walks on ahead of rest of the band… holding two things: a cup of water(?) and his work axe… puts down the cup and grabs a random pick, throws on the guitar, plays about 12 notes and a chord to see if Blackie is in tune… then goes into legendary riff by himself while everyone is still getting setup and seated. By the third or fourth bar when they’re all in, it’s already a well oiled machine. No hanging about… and excites the crowd by himself in four power chords. Beaut!
@@PhukIT1865 That's ok. They probably haven't seen him live. There are people who always want to take other people down. Haven't you noticed how there are always negative comments on every video on You Tube? Not just Clapton's. Ironically, Clapton himself never talks about how good he is. That's because he doesn't have to do that.
Awesome playing from Eric here, at the very peak of his abilities. Supremely confident, he nonchalantly strolls onto the stage and delivers a phenomenal performance of his usual intense but cool blues-rock, while inspiring a similar level of playing from his most excellent band. The best improvising musician ever, and a world class vocalist and songwriter to boot.
@@paulster56 Hate to say it, out of respect for Mr. Clapton, but I agree here. Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, Richie Blackmore got great tones out of their Strats -- in my opinion anyway. Clapton got some good Strat tones early on with Brownie (on the first solo record), but compared to the commanding tones he got on his Gibsons, his Strat tones are kind of sterile. I still listen to him, though, for the notes. The tones don't really knock me over, but the playing is still great.
@@chriscampbell9191 it just puzzles me. It's as though he has a mental aversion (heroin days maybe?) to playing Cream tunes on a 335, LP, or SG. As I've said elsewhere, when they did the reunion show, "Sunshine of..." came out sounding like "Cocaine" on his Strat, not to mention that they played so fast. No heaviness in it whatsoever. And THAT was THE heaviest tune of the day back then.
His '70s/80s music post-Derek & the Dominos with Strats I admit was a bit hit or miss (although I personally love a lot of it). I think he reclaimed a lot of his old fire from the Cream days when Fender started making him his own sig. Strats with the mid-boost and Lace Sensors. Listen to 24 Nights and Five Long Years👍
3:14 - Clapton plays "Blue Moon" (in D major) over the riff in D minor. That's bold. The awesome Steve Gadd on drums! Clapton knows how to pick his drummers!
Nick xter you're embarrising your self... don't get me wrong its a good song but.. its the same lick over and over and not that hard... and besides he recorded it on a Gibson Les Paul, this is a Fender Strat, so "this guitar" is kinda off the statement cya
Vincenzo Gargiulo not hard to play but he probably invented one of the most legendary guitar riffs of all time theres a difference between covering solos and riffs and creating them
Hi 👋! Your comment are always worth reading..I pray to God to give you a lot of beautiful days and you know God loves us so much!.....So where are you originally from? I am David originally from Spain but currently living in Texas now..........

J'adore la petit tête de Clapton à la fin ! Il hausse les épaules, l'air de dire "Désolé les mecs, fallait bien finir ce morceau à un moment donné." Moi j'aurai pu continuer à l'écouter pendant des heures sans problème... EC is God.
I got to watch him play this in Charlotte North Carolina in the early 2000s took me all them years to get to see him and he was great then the epitome of his guitar playing is unreal
The riff is just a monster. Always is and will be.
one direction will suck Eric Clapton's dick
+Filippo Forni you scared me you made me thin one erection did a cover of this.
lol wall said
For so many reasons!!
Absolutely, one of the catchiest and most iconic riffs of all time.
You sometimes forget just what a great voice Clapton has got.
The riff that has tortured teen guitarists' parents since 1967.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Tortures mine.... now that I have a strat. Things are very rock and roll and blues types these days at my place.
Guilty !!! Wouldn't trade it for the world !!!
That's right!
Brilliant! 😂😂😂😂
Clapton playing the melody to Blue Moon during a guitar solo for the song Sunshine of Your Love. That's crazy yet bad ass.

although I always saw him as kind of a ripper offer, this one was very well done. I'll give him a pass.
although fecundity buitrado and don Pasquale seem to have slightly different ideas.
Listen to the original on Disraeli Gears. Lore has it that the first notes of the solo were consciously quoting Blue Moon. He just takes it further here, as if to underline the point.
He's got that sustain and note-bending stuff down to an exact science. One of his best solos, I'd say. Great band too.
One of his best concerts too. The besy Layla solo was also from this performance, MSG in 1999.
Solo 🤮

Perfect description of Slowhand and his other worldly powers
YES.. HE IS AMAZING!!! MY VERY FAVORITE ARTIST!!!
The tone he gets out of his strat is great. Clapton and Hendrix can/could always bring the best out of those guitars.
Jimi yes. Eric no. Put Eric on a proper Gibson (for Cream tunes), then we can see.

in 3.10 the solo starts with melody of Blue Moon then he proceeds to make it his own solo, he is just amazing
The way they start the song🔥🔥🔥🔥
It just gets better each time I hear it. Clapton is genius !

Essex Eagle I agree. And in fact I bet it's hard to play that stuff as well as he does. Sheer perfection!
Thanks Mr."Slowhand" for great Times over 40 years famous guitar playing, your a`Legend for all times, thanks !!!

Man that riff kills and that saxophone just adds to the intensity of it and just makes this a kick ass version of this song
I think its David Sanborn. whose sax on David Bowies great 1975 live album "David Live" is fab.
Everything he plays is excellent always
This man really plays the guitar as if its as easy as ringing a bell
But he is not Johnny b good😂
The best intro EVER!!!
Clopton is a fantastic blues guitarist 🎸 the is
My 3rd favourite guitar playing ❤😅❤ 🎉🎉
This is music..... Proud of my family for bringing me up right.
One of his greatest guitar moments. And Katie Kissoon is a goddess.
the smoothest everrrrrr top 5 electric guitarists easily ALL TIME
No words for this performance
Back in the day, no song (other than Hey Jude) dominated the airwaves like this one. I heard it everywhere I went.
Exactly how it was big time
Many are faster but Clapton is the man with the music . The Greatest . I love Santana and Mark and many others but none as great as this guy .
yes! ...and Hendrix too!
Obviously yea , I have cool LP's of Jimi
Elvin Lategan I wish you would video them.
I mean LP records .The black ones . All my music is on those .
