People sleep on Oversimplify as a simic board wipe. Giving everyone one big vanilla token creature is a small price for getting to exile all creatures. Plus you can make a deal with the people at the table crying out for a board wipe to not attack you with their fractals before you cast it.
Resculpt isn't as critical when you have Green and Red. The exile aspect is handy, but it's really critical artifact removal for mono-blue/dimir, which doesn't have much of that.
@@charlieblocher7456 1 more mana to exile AND have another type option to choose from is great. Even if red/green destroys artifacts more efficiently, making sure something doesn’t come back at instant speed for 2 mana is too good to pass up.
I never see anyone talking about Ixidron. One of the best blue board wipes, imo. Basically a Curse of the Swine in that it turns all the creatures into vanilla 2/2s but it also leaves you with a huge creature that can be blinked or reanimated to repeat the process.
I would argue that the great henge is worth running in most, if not all, temur decks for the card draw ability on it off for nothing else. The 1/1 counter is not to be ignored either, plus it taps for two colored mana which is relatively rare among mana rocks while also gaining you life in doing so.
I used to be in the camp of if I'm running green I'm always using the green ramp cards, and although they are safer, they're always just slower on a budget than the signets and talismans, really depends how fast your deck needs to be. Nature's lore, Three wishes, and Far seek are the only ones I can think of that are as fast as talismans and they require 60$ worth of shock lands to make them on par color fixing and tempo wise, sometimes a single green mana from three wishes isn't exactly what you need. Again it all depends on budget and the tempo you need your deck to operate at.
i would argue that if you're playing a 3 color deck, green is also superior at mana fixing as well. there are plenty of budget land ramp options. cultivate, kodama's reach, sakura tribe elder, rampant growth.
For green ramp packs I pretty much always run the usual suspects and 3 rocks 1 sol ring, 1 arcane signet, and almost always 1 talisman for mana fixing my tertiary most color
2:25 some of the polymorph cards have you reveal your library, but not the whole thing. It's not as bad as you think, most people are only half reading your cards if they are at all
I was gonna suggest this but honestly a simic color combo has no problem drawing without it plus most temur decks are gonna rely on creatures or instants and sorceries and seeing as it’s an enchantment it doesn’t make the cut easily
Just a quick take about the rystic study scenario. I will for one never give my opponent anything more than what is needed. If they don't take the removal regardless it's their fault for not taking it
@@jcstaff1007The same could be said for any board wipe, it’s not like many decks cannot get important cards back from the graveyard. There’s a good chance that when you Cyclonic Rift, there will be a lot of discards from opponents, which is just a more indirect route to the graveyard then other board wipes.
I've been playing Guided Passage for a year and a half in my group hug Xyris deck and let me tell you, revealing the cards in your library isn't as bad as you might think it is, especially if your deck has a lot of moving parts to it and you're playing a mostly unknown strategy.
I'm a fairly new player (been playing for a little over a year now) and started out with building a lot of red decks (mostly mono red). Recently I've been looking to put together a Temur deck and taking a closer look at green and blue has really surprised me with their overall card quality. It's so much better than red imo. I also don't get why the community consensus seems to be white is the "worst colour" when it does many things pretty well. It's hard to think of anything that red does much better than any other colour. This video is another prime example. The only thing red does best out of these colours arguably is boardwipes, but there really is only 1 good one. If I'm missing something I'm happy to learn more but I think red is pretty easily the colour that needs the most help rn in commander.
Mono white was historically considered the weakest standalone colour because it had poor ramp and poor card draw. It also did not do much that other colours could not do just as well. They have been fixing that over the last year or two. Mono red historically excels at aggro (speed) better than most other colours but that is far less important in Commander by comparison to other formats. It also much like Blue interacts strongly with artifacts.
Is there any specific reason why you prefer beast writing over generous gift, other than the obvious fact that this video was centered around temur decks?
@@edhdeckbuilding maybe I'm old fashioned and since I played threw the set that introduced temur properly as a tri color pairing , the fact it has the watermark of it solidifies the fact it is temur lol , just poking fun either way.
Need a temur elf commander. The lack of temur is ridiculous compared to all other 3 color decks. And there’s great simic and gruul elves. We need that gap bridged and would put elves on current power level. Wizards been fucking up purposely on a lot of shit
This feels out of place for this channel, since you have often repeated that you prefer Commander/deck synergy over playing “good stuff” as just playing good stuff tends to result in boring decks where one Temur deck for example has like 50%+ same cards as another.
@@Blacklodge_Willy Both is of course better… but staple refers to cards that are standard inclusions in the 99 for most decks of that colour affinity… either because they are absurdly broken and OP or because they do something most decks need incredibly well, like ramp or draw. They’re not going to automatically have synergy with most decks.
For board wipe options in red, delayed blast fireball is a fantastic card

Wish they could visit temur again, I like the snow nomad tribe thematic and wish to make a themed deck around it.
Phasing of zhalfir seems like a decent option for a board wipe
Suprised you didnt mention Resculpt. It has become my part of my blue removal suite

that's funny. just made a short about that card. it will ruin your day.
Wish there where more temur commanders :/
Same!!!
I hear yea... but I still get a ton of mileage from Riku

I'm surprised ezuris predation wasn't talked about for board wipes, yes it doesn't deal with big beaters, but it is so effective with token strategies
Oversimplify is the best board wipe in temur colors. Exiles the board.
I love guided passage

9:10 so cyclonic Rift isn't the goto blue boardwipe anymore?
Im guessing Demo won’t consider it a board wipe as stuff can still come back next turn.

I like The Phasing of Zhalfir from Dominaria United as a blue board wipe option
Oversimplify. Exiles everything. Almost the same thing.
For board wipes don't forget blue also has The Phasing of Zhalfir.
green has ezuri's predation - it's sort of a boardwipe.... but one sided and leaves you with a bigger board

First commander ever was Temur Omnath so this helps
"Shaman of the great hunt isn't a temur card" has the temur clans watermark in the text box because it very much is by definition a temur card lol..
i suppose, but temur is typically defined by it's casting cost. nobody would ever consider abzan beastmaster to be an abzan card.
