      +Guns, Gear & On Target Training, LLC The revolver is the original gun of the United States. The Army Cavalry, Wild Bill Hickok, Wyatt Earp, all the settlers, etc. The six-gun ruled for many years. If you can't take care of trouble with six shots, you are in big trouble.

    Ive got a 627PC 8x shot and I love it. I wanted the N frame rather than the 686 K/L since its a snubby and you do feel the magnum rounds a bit more than the longer barrel revolvers. I really like the look- especially of the non fluted cylinder, great revolver.

    Such an attractive revolver that I hope to be buying one soon. I have an old Security Six that runs well, but it isn’t practical to carry. Also beats the crap out of my fingers. Revolvers and shotguns seem to be outdated for personal defense, but they have such a romance around them.

      I agree with you and your statements regarding revolvers. Like you, I think they are beautiful works of art and while not the optimum for personal protection or self-defense. They certainly do work.

    • @looseballs1966
      @looseballs1966 Před 8 lety

      The 686 is an L frame, in between the K and N, K frame being models such as the 19-66-69 and the N being models 29-629-627-327-28-27 and the like ( the 44 magnums and largest frame 357's for the most part and they are the heavy weights weighing 40 or even more ounces in weight with very large frames) and in the performance center version like this they weigh in at just about all of 36 ounces, on the other hand the model 60 pro series (J frame) with a 3 inch barrel instead of the 2.5 like this gun weighs in at only 23.5 ounces and is WAY easier to pack around but you only get 5 instead of 7 rounds of fire before reloading time, I own both and they are both awesome guns, but I mostly pack the model 60 for the shear ease of carry.

      ***** Sorry but I don't like auto's for the most part, I reload my own ammo and have for near 40 years now and I hate having to hunt all over the ground for my brass. but that is just my thing so....

    • @looseballs1966
      @looseballs1966 Před 8 lety +1

      ***** That is fine the main difference for me is the 40 or so years that I have been into guns in general has made me rather biased to like what I like because when I started out revolvers pretty much ruled the roost and auto's were just not very prevalent except the 1911 (which I have never cared for either really), I remember when Glocks first ever came out or at least became known and showed up in the mainstream so to say, they were kind of laughed at in a way you might say, I was working at a sporting goods store selling guns and you might say that trying to get the idea of plastic guns and auto's to boot into the heads of customers at as time when revolvers were far more trusted and used was a bit difficult to say the least, and many old timers (like me are just to familiar with what has proven itself for just way too long, so we cling to what we know and like. not to mention that for as good as they are calibers like the 9mm, 40 S&W, and even the trusty old 45 acp, just don't stack up to what the 357 mag can in terms of horse power, to match or exceed it you will need to pack something in 10mm, and they become quite large guns in that caliber, for me 357 is the choice as I am more likely to run into a pissed off moose-bear (we have both black and grizzly's here) mountain lion, and we even have a pretty large number of wolf here as well, and within a stones throw from my front door I can be in some of the largest wilderness area left in the lower 48 states of the country (I live in north central Idaho and the entire middle of the state is a huge area of very wild no roads type wilderness that is basically my front and back yards), many times when out and about you will find me packing guns like my 44 mag, 460 or 500 S&W along with a 357 for backup, so now you know all me reasons for my choice at least, auto's may have high capacity but they just lack the punch to put down pissed off 4 legged critters like I mentioned, and if you ever have tried to hit a running as in charging you animal you would know why high capacity aint what you need (something learned from nearly 40 years of hunting said critters). don't get me wrong I am just a gun addict and though I don't own any auto's (got rid of them all, and I had a few to say the least, my last one just got traded off recently, it was a kel tec su16 that I used in part trade on my third 500 S&W, so I now own that gun in all but the 4 inch and 2.5 inch barrel lengths but those are still on my list of gets lol).

    • @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC
      @GunsGearOnTargetTrainingLLC  Před rokem

      It's an outstanding revolver and could work for great IBW. Personally I find guns like the Glock 48, Sig P365XL and the like to be easier to conceal and carry.
      I've carried revolvers before (mostly the 642 in .38 special or the Ruger LCR) but found semi-automatics a better solution for me. That being said, this 7 shot S&W would be a solid choice. Thanks for commenting. Hope you'll subscribe.

      686 SSR model not performance center and only 6 shot, or 686 pro series it has 7 shots but is 5 inch barrel that is your 2 choices as close looking to the performance center gun but have none of the performance center hand tuning, or the standard model 686 plus in 4 inch that is about all you have to chose from.

      I know some people are concerned about wear, scratches or dings. I get it. For me, all my guns are tools. As such they get used, used hard and often show wear. Personally, I like that their frequent use is seen. Do thousands of presentations from the holster and you'll get holster wear. Gun works great all that's different is it shows signs of being use. I love that look!

      Felt recoil is certainly subjective. After shooting a half a box of hot 357 loads, I do feel it. For carry, the 357 is good choice... for my typical practice session where I shoot 200-300 rounds doing defensive drills, I stick with .38 special.
