Steve: “I never liked this game”.
Me:…Those old unboxing videos I just binged would like to have a word with you.
Never stopped playing this game, I got it in 2015 I believe. Team Covenant was the way I learned, through watching them play. I watched all of the unboxing videos, and was sad to see when they stopped after a few expansions and cycles. My dad and I have always been playing together over these years and I'm glad to see another Team Covenant SWLCG video
That's absolutely fantastic! Love to hear it!
I hope we get a 2nd edition of this
Don't hold your breath.
trilogy prequel packs a thing?
It may shift over to a co op lcg?
This is so funny YESTERDAY I pulled all my cards from the basement, jumped on TC to watch the learn to play for a refresher and this. Great memories with this game. Thanks for the passion.
Great timing!
Just taught it to a friend who is a huge magic and destiny player. He ended up buying a bunch of cheap packs online. So much depth in the game.
I got into this game in its second year. Even though I live in a major city we could never get a scene going. It was always me and the same 1 or 2 other guys. I had an amazing time playing at lunch with my buddies in college though.
Focus Tokens Plus were a great product. Somehow it always made me think about the following nugget by Douglas Adams...
'In fact there are three freely convertible currencies in the Galaxy, but none of them count. The Altairian Dollar has recently collapsed, the Flainian Pobble Bead is only exchangeable for other Flainian Pobble Beads, and the Triganic Pu has its own very special problems. Its exchange rate of eight Ningis to one Pu is simple enough, but since a Ningi is a triangular rubber coin six thousand eight hundred miles along each side, no one has ever collected enough to own one Pu. Ningis are not negotiable currency, because the Galactibanks refuse to deal in fiddling small change. From this basic premise it is very simple to prove that the Galactibanks are also the product of a deranged imagination.'
It was great watching you stream some Star Wars LCG game play. Thanks for giving it some attention.
Bummer I missed the stream but glad it's already posted. Looks great!
Man, I miss this game so much.
I think Doomtown is a good example of a game with easy-to-get-theme but hard-to-get-game. There is just so many things you can do in that game that just makes you lose. Played a Deed (your resource cards) with Control Points at the wrong time? Game over. Start a fight at the wrong time and then draw a bad hand? Game over. Don't make the call that your opponent is running a Deedslide deck in time? Game over.
And on top of that the deckbuilding is pretty wild. Not only are you limited to 52 cards, you're also limited to having 4 copies of a Card (by title) AND 4 copies of the same suit/value... and you also have to build for how good your deck should shoot in the shootouts. Going for a Full House type of deck? Then you should stack 2 or 3 values for highest chance of getting a FH or Four of a kind. Maybe you want for a stronger Straight Flush? Then you need to have more values spread out and should probably go for Clubs (Action cards that cycles, so more chance of drawing them). Maybe you have a Huckster/Blessed/Shaman Deck? Then you also need to have high values so you succeed in your pulls.... phew!
Damn, i miss playing Doomtown.
Doomtown is insane. Once you make it to understanding, though, apparently its paradise.
@@teamcovenant If paradise is a muddy road in the hellish town of Gomorra, sure why not ;)
great ccg and rpg
How can I know more about all those dead TCG? Everytime I go to comments there are those huge loads of game I've never heard of
This is still one of my favorite games of all time. My entire collection came from your shop. Sad to find out that it shut down. I missed out on a lot of the later stuff, but I just assumed it was still going and I'd catch up on sets I missed someday.
Going up the list of unknown.. and this is EASILY Fantasy Flight's best game! Wish L5R was as focused and interesting as this one.
EDIT: I would love to know how much would it cost someone to get an exact copy of these decks.... for research purposes.
So discussing the complexity of SWLCG: I like to compare it to L5R. SWLCG has lots of complexity, but it’s mostly hidden under the hood. The actual game mechanics are pretty simple, but there are so many decisions being made that don’t always have obvious end effects (and sometimes you may not even realize you made a decision). L5R, on the other hand, wears all of the complexity on the surface. You know right away that there are tons of tricky decisions.
An hello from France 🇫🇷Thank you very much to continue to post some videos on SW LCG! As requested also from others, it will be so great if you can post here the list of objectives that you used in these decks. Many thanks guys 👍
Such an incredible game. One of my favourite games of all time as well Zach. Possibly my favourite ever.
Was (imo), next to Netrunner 2.0, the best LCG that Fantasy Flight ever made ... miss the old days.
I found your channel thanks to this game, nice! Feels full circle :D Maybe its time to buy it again hehe.. keep it as a board game :)
Great games. Love this game. Does Zac want to post his decks? Love the run of old cards. Also, the discussion on the abstract nature of the game was great. I always pictured this game as a story focused on how the actors (units) interacted with the objectives as a narrative.
Will drop him a suggestion to post the lists.
2:08:22 I feel the same way. I love the game, have tons of cards. I just can't wrap my head around with the meta of what I can really do with my cards. 2:11:27 Star Wars: The Card game (PODCAST) so good!
These were great games. I particularly enjoyed it when Steven used the Loth Cat to hose Darth Vader.
FWIW -- Zach's coaching in this video is top-notch. He makes playing a competitive game with someone that you are teaching the game to look way too easy. Plus, he explains everything pretty darn clearly for those of us who maybe forgot certain rules.
I LOVED this game!! Top 10 all times games for me. It has its issues but it’s a good, fun game!!
The Objective Set game system is awesome, its one of my favorite things about it. Forces the player to deal with “less good” cards. I love deckbuilding but this was a really cool idea. Do you take Objective A because it has better cards or do you take Objective B because the Objective itself is more useful to the strategy.
I think the “story” being told here is like the Empire going to rumored Rebel hideouts and encountering resistance or a dog fight as the Rebels are striking at Imperial shipyards. I think it tried to recreate the CCG feeling or traveling to those locations and battling it out there w/o forcing players to always be at Endor or Hoth or something; the players could build the decks they want and interact regardless.
I do think they captured a good Star Wars feel. It really is a fun game!! I would love to see FFG put out a 2.0, most likely as a CoOp/Solo, I just hope it won’t be Light Side only and we will be able to play as the villains.
“With Light Side a lot of it is just annoying the Dark Side.” Ya, that’s kinda the plot of the Original Trilogy. Annoy them enough and you’ll win!!
In regards to when you know if your opponent played “Twist of Fate”… Search your feeling, “Steven. You’ll know it to be true.”
Honestly Steven, watch Episode 3. Revenge of the Sith is worth the watch. Episode 9 is trash, and that is insulting to trash. But Revenge of the Sight is a good watch. It contains one of my personal favorite scenes(Top 5) in Star Wars… “Execute Order 66”
So listening to the you guys describe the objective deck building and how it worked out with the cycles and then thinking about the issues with L5R with their cycles and how Doomtown Reloaded felt with the pineboxes, seems like for anything like a competitive LCG you need to stick with full expansions instead of breaking it up.
For me the best game that captured the star wars feeling in a grand way was Star wars Rebellion. Best star wars game hands down.
I love this game, but I wouldn't mind a reskin of Arkham Horror set in the Star Wars universe. I keep hoping one day it will happen.
Yes! We need that level of intricacy in a SW game.
So just so you know, there were actually 2 or 3 more world championships after the one you described. I think the final release was in early 2018.
Man, I would totally jump on a co-op Star Wars LCG. The only reason I don’t play Arkham is because of the theme. So many good memories with the LOTR LCG though.
This is a great game and I'm super salty that it didn't get the support it deserved and also that SW Destiny exists
Star war LCG. Still got my 2 core and first 4 pack of wave 1. The delays really killed this game for me. We ended up just sticking with netrunner at the time. It a pity, since I'm a star wars fan.
Near the end of game 2, Seeds has to hit a ready unit, so it couldn’t have been used to get the shield off of Vader and couldn’t have locked him down.
Any chance you could post your objective set lists for your decks?
Could you post the objectives sets for each deck?
Love this game - too bad I got into it way too late (two months ago) and it’s dead.
I only have the core set....
FOR NOW. I want to make some nice balanced and fun decks for everything. The core set for me is super fun. But I want more.
Three things I want to build:
Battle of both
Ewoks vs. Empire
Bounty hunters against smuggler master Han Solo.
Honestly the thing that pushed me away from this game was the combat. I Find that the combat is so esoteric that it was impossible to understand what you need to do. I think that Netrunner eschewing "combat" itself meant that you completely shifted things in your mind.
No idea what "eschewing" is, but "esoteric" is very much how I'd define this game's combat system. I really, really, love everything else about it, but the combat with the icons and tokens is way more complicated than it needs to be. Even "committing to the force" could've been simplified by just adding up the number of icons each player has instead. Etc, etc.

Hey Guys,
Curious of what you thought of the evolution of the Edge Battle over the life of the game?
I see a lott of components I don't remember from the game. The metal coin, the bright colored tokens, the (artwork on the) afiliation cards, where did you get those?
Can you boys detail what deck builds were used in this video?
miss this game :'(
also zach's face when steven revealed spark LOL
I play this Game with a good Friend of mine. So would you post the Deck-Lists, please? 🙏🏽😊
So were the deck list posted somewhere ?
If you would make 2-3 decks for each side for a kitchen-meta... any good decklists for that?
Honestly the ones in this video are pretty top-notch. With the pod deckbuilding, you can pretty easily throw together a deck focused on your favorite characters.
my sentimental favorite game, and the only one i have every single card for.
netrunner is better, conquest is prettier, but sw:tcg is just magical.
*LCG ?
@@Dreadnote-pf7of yes it was. but it was called star wars the card game. so a lot of people referred to it as sw:tcg.
@@hadzhere yeah, but here is LCG one, SW:TCG is another SW game (czcams.com/video/827jnzuCFyY/video.html is Covenant Stream about TCG one)
@@Dreadnote-pf7of of course you are right. my bad. i did mean the lcg. :)
@@Dreadnote-pf7of, “actually” no sir, you are incorrect. “Star Wars: The Card Game” is the CORRECT title for this game; it is a 2012 release from Fantasy Flight. It was a ‘Living Card Game’, but the official title is “Star Wars: The Card Game”. The game you reference in your YouTune link is actually called ‘Star Wars Customizable Card Game (CCG) which was released in 1995; Team Covenant MISLABELED that CZcams video; either by accident OR by choice in insisting that the ‘CCG’ is THE card game. So ‘hadzhere’ has noting to apologize about. This is STAR WARS:THE CARD GAME.
Cheers.
Would you add the decks, pls.
"It didn't really hit us how bad things were until Episode 2."
Man, I remember sitting in the theater in 2002, watching Attack of the Clones, and realizing Star Wars wasn't ever going to be generally cool again. From then on, every fan would have to convince their friends any future Star Wars product wasn't actually that bad because this stupid movie was so laughably terrible it tainted the whole franchise.
When the Sequels sucked, I was mad Disney had made soulless merchandising pitches out of my favorite franchise, but even though I think Rise of Skywalker is worse than Attack of the Clones, it was AotC that did the most damage to Star Wars.
Do you guys still sell token sets for this game?
We don't! There may be some floating around on eBay.
@@teamcovenant What a bummer. I'll just have to repurpose some alternate Covenant tokens! Thanks for streaming and posting. Inspired me to break the game out again.
link to the 2v2 game they were talking about at the beginning???
I think they talking about this LCG, but in team format
Here's the actual gameplay from that exact game if you'd like to check it: czcams.com/video/jFeEPEX4Tmk/video.html
Guys, I only have so much money. You're getting me interested in too many games!
There are too many good ones out there!
Understanding SWLCG is like seeing the Ralph McQuarrie metaverse in binary while at the same time being soaked in a vat of whatever Jabba was slurping on
Can't disagree with that.
I REALLY don't care for this game. maybe I didn't play it enough. how come no one ever talks about AGOT LCG? I always felt it was a brilliant design.
We have AGOT on our throwback list!
@@teamcovenant AWESOME!!!!!!

fyi video seems to be starting in the middle of play
This game seems so clunky.
That was a common critique for sure.
What is your definition of clunky? I thought it was a nice design.
that's because it is
I blame the rulebook. It had a terribly short, borderline incomplete index and flow jumped around a bunch where you are constantly flipping pages back and forth to understand the order of play. It could have used a learning scenario guide like most modern FFG rulesets have now. Some of the examples were so small you needed a magnifying glass to decipher. Once you understand the rules, it actually isn't very clunky at all.
Is this game dead?
It is no longer being published.
Ah yep another game they dropped along with all the rest.
Now it’s another cash grab with Unlimited. Give em time they’ll drop that as well.
So many great games gone from this once great company. Now everything is re-hash, reimplement, re-theme, reuse old mechanics from other LCG’s.
I no longer buy anything from FFG.
