    You don't realize it now, but you are blessed to be like this. This is the fire of a hungry fighter (i'm guessing ur a young dude), it's part of you that absolutely does not want to lose. Its exactly how I was. As long as you don't quit it will drive you to the best you can be. When you get older like I am now you'll say 'been there done that' and you'll get a latte at Starbucks n sit and think about vacations and money, not fighting. Its hard for you to see it, but its what you need.

    I think the biggest advice for beginners would be do what you can to stay as calm as you can. Thats what I realized after 3 years of boxing is staying calm is the best way to not make mistakes (once you have a good base set of skills and start developing your style that is).

      Great advice. When I learned to box, my coach made me practice shadow boxing, footwork & skipping for 4 straight months before even I had my first pad .session. He taught me that rhythm and movement is the key to any boxing foundation

    i'm really sorry to hear that. I've seen it happen a few times before. There are a couple fights I had where I won but inside my heart I felt i lost, and also a couple where i lost but deep down I knew i had won. The work you put in, the skills, and the feeling that you know you are better and were winning will be with you all your life. Find a way to strengthen your shoulder and get back to it, you have a lot more time in front of you

    Your the top dog.you get better with every video.i had my first spar yesterday and I used some of your tips particularly about the follow up movements after a combo.I felt a huge weight off my shoulders I understood my possibilities for the future.i have a lot of power but I have not been able to translate that into my punches in a fight situation.i want to learn how to dig into my punches more while under pressure

  • @PrecisionBoxing
    @PrecisionBoxing  Před 10 lety

    To speed up your double jab you have to speed up the movement of your feet, short quick steps. AND only bring the hand half way back after the first jab to then release the second jab.

  • @PrecisionBoxing
    @PrecisionBoxing  Před 10 lety +2

    that mostly comes down to conditioning, and you have to make an effort to force the air out when you punch, if you force the air out your body will automatically bring air back in, but if you hold your breath you'll be screwed

  • @PrecisionBoxing
    @PrecisionBoxing  Před 10 lety

    If you want to work on your stance then its best to get lower in your stance during practice and throw punches from a low balanced position. If you need to work on footwork out of the stance then you need to do back and forth motion along with side to side motion. It all comes down to repetition and time you put in.

    nailed it again Jason :), I was having problems in sparring because of the 1st and the 3rd component of an attack (didn't fake my way in, and also stayed flat footed in front of my opponent after finishing my combo), pop out with the high guard is the easiest thing to apply, for me at least, during my way out

  • @PrecisionBoxing
    @PrecisionBoxing  Před 10 lety +1

    You can learn the moves of defense and simulate the experience which will help and can be carried over once you do the real thing. You will be better off than if you do nothing, but you won't know for sure until you actually block or slip punches. It would be like practicing your tennis swing without a ball to hit, you may have the swing perfect but you'll never know where the ball is going until you hit one. So its worthwhile but aim to get to a gym or get a partner.

    Sir, I just advanced in belt ranks in my MMA gym and am starting to spar. The owner and instructors are amazing guys and are on point with their boxing techniques. These two videos are really helping me with my rhythm and lateral movement as well as keeping myself from getting overwhelmed. I'm a retired police lieutenant. I'm a great shot but I always tell people that targets don't shoot back. Well, now the heavy bag I've been hitting all year just started hitting back!! Haha. Great videos. Thank you for spending the time to relate directly to new sparring students.

      Head gear, gloves and mouth pieces last night. Went live against someone sparring 8 weeks longer than me. Just jabs and crosses. I crumbled. I felt like a punching bag. My defense was deplorable unless you consider blocking every punch with your face as good. Felt like a fish out of water. My offense barely found it's mark. I'm 5'6" and know most opponents will be taller and have longer arms, but I felt like a child on the mat.

    Essentially its boxing tactics in motion. For example if I can see that you don't roll off a straight right, or are too slow to come with another punch (e.g. left hook) I can capitalize on the precise counter for that. If I see that you can't close the gap, i'll time you coming in. If I see that you don't move out or create angles after you throw, i'll counter you and move. Floyd has speed and power, but his mind is able to apply it to a new level, he uses 100% of his ability come fight time

  • @PrecisionBoxing

    slip left and step in w the left hook, or slip left with a step and fire the left hook.

    I've been boxing for three weeks now, already sparred in a "soft" way let's say two times 1 round each in the past and felt kinda lost, didn't get my ass beat much but i sucked some good punches and landed very few. I was searching for infos on the net and went tgrought many things but after watching this and part 2 for the last two days and taking notes and practicing at home i went today to the gym and sparred for the third time and man what a difference. It was a great surprise, sure i still have to work a lot but i was like 3 to 4 times better, my sparring partner was overwhelmed i was like a totally diffrent boxer in front of him lol and the punches i could land and i could skip were as well 3 to 4 times more. This is absolutely the best beginner to intermediate sparring tutorial on youtube and i wanted to thank you for that and for all the efforts and good content on your channel. Big thank you ! For any beginner boxer reading this, I'm no expert I'm a beginner too, but what i noticed so far is this, not in order but in general : footwork, balance, hips, lateral movement, rythme, move in, attack, move out, break the angle, throw more uppercuts, dont be afraid you can always back up, try the double jab one light and one big followed by a cross or a right uppercut you'll be surprised how effective it can be when opponent is covering up, dont stay too long in the inside, try and improve your pulls, lateral movement, simple combos 2 to 4 punches 1,2, 3 or 1 1 2 3 or 1 2 7 etc... all this points shouldnt be neglected at all, they are key points in boxing and you should work them as much as you work your jab and cross on the bag, always focus on you footwork and balance, the objectif is to be able to throw any kind of punch from any angle while staying balanced etc.. so shadow boxe my friends dont forget to always picture an opponent in front of you and exercise at home as often as you can and dont rely only on boxing in the gym to make fast progress. All this conclusions are based on this video and part 2 video, i recommend you watch them more than once and each time try few thinks. Always work smart, work at home on key points, go to the gym, try them and see what is the outcome, make conclusion, know better your weaknesses, work more, etc.. for me personnaly the key points I'm gonna work for the next month are footwork balance, fakes and pulls, i think if i improve those i will get closer to finding my rythme, anyway, sorry for this very long comment i hope you liked it if you read it to the end. Hopefully there will be part 3 👊👊

    I'm 42, in good shape (i look 32, never smoked, never partied, never drank (never boxed in a gym but just on my own in my garage) and i'm devouring your videos and applying all your advice. When i'm able to do a heavy bag session of 10 times 3 minutes with one minute rest, where every punch is with ko power (bas rutten training dvd) i'm going to sign up in a gym. I feel that i will have a good base to start in a gym thanks to your advice. I've also noticed that I'm gifted with hard punches and innate good cardio. In mma circuit training i'm still going after an hour when the others are gassed out. It' thanks to the fact hat my heart is pretty big and it gives me a heart pace in rest of about 33. Discovered my love for boxing too late because of a life long back problem (completely solved when i was 30). I'm looking for a good heavy bag glove (but some rdx but in a couple of months im buying a serious brand). Any beginners advice is more then welcome. Thinking of buying the gloves i found in your webshop but there were only 12 ounce. I way 200 pounds so it's nog enough maybe.

    I agree with that. In my club, I was among the taller middleweights and enjoyed good reach, but I never found myself with the stick and move style that my coach initially insisted was suitable for my physique. I tried many times, but eventually I'd find myself swarming the other guy, getting inside and banging...

    Do you have any videos on training, like how much time should be spent on improving different parts of your game? This would of course be individual based on weaknesses etc, but generaly speaking?
    I come from a wrestling background and is currently in MMA just rehabed from a bad injury and planing on competing in mma in about half a year or so and my boxing weak compared to my wrestling on ground game.

    Double jab high, straight right to the body - it's not a fight finisher but I can't even count the number of times I've caught guys with this combo. It's also a good setup to transition into a Dempsey roll to avoid the counter, then come back with a lead hand shovel hook, lead hand high hook combo
