Lyrics:
I am just a poor boy
Though my story's seldom told
I have squandered my resistance
For a pocket full of mumbles, such are promises
All lies and jests
Still a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest
When I left my home and my family
I was no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station
Running scared,
Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters
Where the ragged people go
Looking for the places
Only they would know
Lie la lie, lie la la la lie lie
Lie la lie, lie la la la la lie la la lie

I am 62 now and love this song even more than the day I first heard it. There is a sadness and honesty here.
If this is the music you grew up with, be thankful, you lived in the utopia of rock music.
This song is perfect..,..but the whores are gone now....they made so much money back then... Simón was divorced for that...,.to all a good day.
.....❤😊
Now in my 60's, it is this music that makes me smile as all the years melt away. It makes me sad to see all the artists I love so much growing older and leaving us. Then, I remember, I am also old.
Thank you for putting the right words to the feeling.
Canta muito!
We did.
❤❤❤
Paul Simon is immortal in his singing.
저는 66세 한국인입니다 젊은 시절 음악감상실에서 듣곤 했던 추억의 노래이고 그때가 많이 그립습니다
I grew up with your music Mr Simon. Paul, The Boxer is my personal favorite song. You truly are the Renaissance Man Of The 20th Century, Thank You.
my arm hairs are standing listening to your song. thank you so much for this beautiful rendition of your song Paul Simon.
This is one of the greatest narrative songs ever written. As powerful as any novel or play. Utter genius.
whatever you say......
Really?
Dumb. Read much?
One of the most beautiful and creative songs of the 20th century hands down! Thank you Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel for this treasure to the world.
Absolutely. It's a masterpiece. Can you believe Simon wrote this in 1969 very early in his career? He was born a master and is now a legend. Musical talent beyond anything we will ever see again.
The tone of Paul's voice is magical. 💕
The Genius Of Paul Simon That Is And Always Will Be.
First heard The Boxer When I was a teenager. I'm now ,,68. Still a great song. Paul Simon is one of the great song writers There will never be another like him
I hope there will because the youth of today don't understand music as we did in our Day... In our day music ment somthing, these days it's just noise.. 🙂 👍🏻
Me too..I am 69
Love it so much❤
me too.
I was raised from a kid with my both youngest brothers. We first heard Paul Simon's music 🎶 as the nuns in the children's home would play it constantly. ❤
P.S....

This was My Dads favorite song. So every time it comes backs it brings back many incredible memories. Thsnk you Mr Simon.
How many of us "3 chord heroes" have not dreamed of one day playing like Paul Simon?
The 60's was a place in time that we will unfortunately never see again! Sad! Looking back, listen to this song and the memories are insane! What a beautiful time in this world!
Watch LAYLA MCCALLA on yt from haiti.
Auch im alter immer noch eines der besten Lieder!!!
Hello how are you doing today..??
My eldest brother would play his guitar and sing this song in the summertime in the 70s when he’s home from college. I was 7 years old. He passed away a couple of years ago. I love my brother and still miss him dearly. This song brings back fond memories.
Oh what a sad memoir of yours,,,sorry for that and for your loss. I'm truly sad when I read it.🙏🙏🙏God bless U...
🙏🙏🙏🙏
I also lost my brother in 1994 in a works accident , he was only 43 and I've never got over it ,just accepted it😔
Thank you il like this is a song
Hi. My bother or rest of my family has not passed away I Angie was born in 1978. But do appreciate this song
Having 10 siblings...I was introduced to the fabulous sounds of Simon and Garfunkel at an early age. I know all the words. I commend your expertise.

Mein absolutes Lieblingsstück von Simon & Garfunkel . 💖💖💖
I love the way Paul puts himself into the song before singing the first words. He's a master, as we all know.
@Sarah W. Rah • Yeah, he is a master, a genius, an icon and most of all a down hearted person of his time. Thanks God for giving us musician endowed with amazing talents.....👍🙏🙏🙏❤ thanks...
Mr Simon to you
Um abraço do Brasil 🇧🇷👍

I heard this song as a kid and it definitely deepened my senses. Simon & Garfunkel have held a special place in my memories since. They are unparalleled, God bless them both. Thank you for the real music.
there was best time
I love you !!
Simon is a great songwriter, but I prefer that his songs were sung by him and Garfunkel. It's a shame they ended their partnership so soon. I could listen to them all day!
Pity the are so distanced and dysfunctional now. Stupid and foolish
A boy with a guitar that can play.. chuck in U can write.. a teen girls dream.. somehow U got my dad's generation involved.. thank U for the love and music mate .x
Run for the
Thanks for your kind words, love and support💙
I liked Paul enjoying the crowd's love for what he was doing. And that was a Paris crowd. Who knew he was that loved in France?
Simon and Garfunkel albums are I am told a frequent tool in French school English classes.
Neat the audience clapping throughout
What a beautiful calming voice...they don't play music like this now.❤️❤️
Hello how are you doing today..?
Ed Sheeran says hi!
That guy is no Paul Simon
A man hears what he wants
To hear and disregards the rest ...40years later that is
So true itt hurts
The Boxer was and will always remain as my all time favorite among Paul Simon's so many great compositions. No other song, past and present, comes close. Big respect and admiration to the GOAT---Mr. Paul Simon.
I grew up with you. I studied collegiate with you. I have never cared for covers; but when people only can do so, I choose things not from S&G, but from S. I am more a fan of your "music for sake of music" ideology. I was named your same name. I changed it. And I will never forget how much you have affected my life, and that of my parents. I am more of a fan of where you went after G.
Thank you Paul. You don't need Art, at all. You ARE art.
My grandfather was art. And I was Paul.
And labels are nothing. We are music. You are carried forth, good sir.
Paul is a genius. I love you, Paul. Thank you for every note you have ever sung. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
One of the greatest song writes of all time.
Yeah 👍
✅ +100
How could he ever had been jealous of ART? He is just as magnificent!!
Perhaps wanted to be tall and handsome. But Paul was always amazing . What an artist
lol what a comment.... but releveant...
Genius. Paul.
Paul Simon is a wonderfully talented artist.
How can anyone dislike this? Its a no bullshit fabulous song and beautiful music. Don't make songs like this anymore. No autotune, just real instruments and talent. Mad skills.
His poetry is the core of his music.
Autotune is nowhere near as ubiquitous as youtube comments would have you believe
He is really singing, story telling to his audience. Legend , he is a legend!! I am singing along with him, are''n't you?
u got that right Hun great story teller🌷

I like it when a song and the lyrics tell a story while maintaining a melody and vocable that stays in your head.
❤
opino lo mismo , cuando una cancion cuenta liricamente una historia, con una voz unica, la musica llena el corazon ....
Cadê o Garfunkel??. died? R.I

duh
I saw Paul Simon live in 2008 in Stuttgart. It was one of the best concerts I have ever heard. He played there with his African band.
❤️ The person who is reading this comment , i wish you great success , health, love and happiness❤️
And back at you -- we're entering the times when we begin to claw back what we've lost and learn of all that we've gained. A rare and wonderful opportunity.
👍👍👍
This song gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling I can’t explain!
This is so beautiful.
Hey how are you doing..?
Mr. Simon, if you never did anything else,, this Genius combination of Fingerstyle Mastery & Philosopher poetry leaves a legacy upon generations. There is so much there to embrace. Thanks very much. (I would have liked to hear that tritone intro though..)
Hey how are you doing?😊
The more I listen to this the more stunning it becomes, one of the best performances ever by a true artist. Love you Paul

Just like me!
The first verse of this song may be the best lyric ever written.
I had to give my best man speech for my brother's wedding the other night. Every time I hear this song I've always thought of him because it always seemed like he was fighting a secret battle just to be happy. I looked into his eyes and teared up because for the first time in his life he seems happy and at peace. Love you, Zac. Congratulations!
I am watching this in 2021... And I'll be watching this till I die... Cause that's kind of stuff that make my hearth melt down... Thank You Paul!!!!!

I guess being 61 years old has some wonderful benefits and one of them is being old enough now to have been young enough then.
What a privilege to have grown up with Paul’s amazing music.
Oh so many many memories........

Great thought
@@jonwarren8757 Thanks Jon…stay safe my friend.
Sehr schönes Lied genau aus meiner Zeit in Hamburg 😢❤❤❤😢
I enjoy watching this beautiful music
❤ We are so lucky to have had Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel in our lives. Long ago I bought their greatest hits vinyl when I was having quite a lot of trouble in life, and I treasured every song. Especially Bridge Over Troubled Water. So glad they are here on youtube in videos I hope forever.
I too was on that bridge in my younger days. Bless us both.....
I'm getting my 10 year old son into Paul Simon's music. He was transfixed watching a video of Paul play Homeward Bound recently, and I knew he'd been hooked. Passing this magic down to the next generation.... Thanks for being an important part of my life Paul...you've seen me through some grim stuff.
Becky M 😯Wise wise Mom! 🙂😉
You are absolutely 👍 ❤Awesome sir.
❤heavenly ❤️absolutely love it and all the memories .
My dad played this song for me when i was a 6 year old boy on his guitar back in the 90s. It was one of his favorite songs.. Its 2015 and my dad passed away back in 2013 when I was 18. Im 20 now.. And listening to this song... Reminds me of my dad.. I miss you dad. The music of your time is so much better than it is now.
+dadeki100 i hope you'll sing it for your own kids someday
Bless ya buddy.nothing expresses love then sharing music moments together
+SirBananaFunk my dad used to sing Streets of London to me, I now sing it to my little girl
I was 10 year old in 1969 when this song released , during the most horrible times of Vietnam War this song very touchy and full of memory for everyone during that times....... kids lost their home, man far away from their family , I'm now almost 60 years old and listening to this song and it seem just like yesterday's song
+dadeki100 Bless you mate, what a great song to remember your Dad with. What an amazing Father he must have been playing this to you as a child.
Teary eyes again listening this song, I remembered I was a young man living in a small place and there was a turntable with a 45 dish of this song and I have played over and over many times as a small pleasure for a young man without any bright future on the horizon; now over 70 this song is still gave me a lot of emotions.
Queste note, questi accordi e questo artista fanno bene al cuore.
Ich liebe Paul Simon und seine Musik Herzlichen Dank dafür ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Thanks Paul for a lifetime of keeping my soul nourished.
Paul Simon the legend, catch the sense of rhythm and a crowd that is constantly engaged, what guitaring and singing..
@hello Vivek, how are you doing ?
Paul simon is the best
This world is full of wonderful songs like this
It's up to you whether you realize it or not
So true.
i'm getting old passing my life with those great memorial songs. I thank for Paul and Simon , whose poems touches my heart.

What a voice, after all these years, it remains so soothing. And the lyrics makes you go into the deepest crevices of your soul. The song, timeless; the singer, an absolute legend. Just wow.

Wish I could go back to that special time!
❤Paul Saimon continua sendo um dos melhores compositores desde 1975.
No long hair, no terrifying electric guiter, he just sing a song, wounderfull, a long long seconds later I think I get peace.
I grew up with the best music/singers/bands and still to this day where ever you go you will most often hear it in the background, like this song. I'm was in high school & college in the early-mid 70's and things only got better. Sadly so many of those bands or members are dying off but their GREAT music will live on forever.!
One of the best songs ever. Beats much if today's music by a country mile and then some.
