  • Custom made Resin and Walnut Chess Board.
After getting the request I did some research on making this and discovered no one pours their epoxy at full depth... this seemed half hearted to me so I figured how to make it happen.

I appreciate the throwing of things the most.

Awesome work!! You make it look really easy... Could look nice LED backlit, too I'd imagine 👍🏼

I actually wanted to do an LED backlight, but wasn't sure this particular customer would have liked it.

Awesome video. Was wondering what you used to keep the blocks in place before you poured the resin?

Awesome video! How the heck did you handle Bubbles from the wood?! So far I’m 2 chessboards full of bubbles in 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

      Couple steps
      1. If you can do a seal coat on all the wood first
      2. Use a slow curing resin to give the bubbles more time to rise to the top
      3. Stalk the piece while the resin cures, constantly check it for bubbles to pop with a heat gun or torch, and tap the sides and bottom of the mold with a hammer to free up bubbles that are stuck
      4. If you can, over pour your resin that way most of the left over bubbles will be up above the piece and will be removed when you plane or sand off the excess resin

Thank you so much for your reply, still battling my chessboard and air bubbles but getting closer I think
