01:33 That’s horrifying and happened many times. Being a helicopter crew was like being a truck driver in Iraq. A constant target. The worst part was there was nobody to seek revenge on.
01:33 Stop the bullshit No, helicopter didn't suffer much casualties in vietnam; same for the other american unit (army rifleman,....) US had less than 50000 KIA in Vietnam, and for each of these KIA 10 nva/vietcong AT the minimum soldier were KIA. Myth about us defeat in vietnam are false, spread by stupid propagandist from the disgusting ottoman regime.
A thank you to all the soldiers who made sacrifices that I, as regular old American, can never understand, and witnessed horrors I myself will never be able to comprehend. I don’t know what else to say but that.
The industry has come up with a very romantic idea about helicopter flights into combat zones with rock and roll music behind them. My grandfather tells me that when they flew helicopters into combat zones inside there was a very strong smell of gasoline and that many fear soldiers would throw up and some would panic that the flight was nothing like See show in the movies
So at Christmas dinner last year my 7 year old grandson: out of the blue asked:" Grandpa how did you do all that flying and not get hit?" Answer: "Just lucky." Not a day goes by that I don't remember those not so lucky.
