- Its no secret that I have struggled in the past ocean fishing, and this episode is no exception to that. Never the less, it does not stop me from trying, and of course having some fun. This season, the pressure feels a little higher, because I want Emi to experience these things as well, and though we didn't find much success with a Halibut, we did very well crabbing. These licenses and gear are not cheap, but to see it all pay off just in crab is a huge relief for me, and to have some help shelling it all way amazing. The freezer was pretty happy to see ziplock after ziplock coming with fresh dungeness meat, and we will be enjoying that for months to come.
I am very fortunate to have some great connections and support in Prince Rupert, and my buddy Haeden, with North West BC Fishing Charters was generous enough to take us out and do what he does best - catch fish. The rods weren't in the water for more than five minutes before we got our first fish on, and then just like that Emi got to experience losing her first fish. Not to worry though, because it was only minutes later and we were into another, then another until we had all landed a healthy big Chinook salmon. We could have kept fishing, and certainly catching, but with only a small freezer to fill, we wanted to save some room for Halibut as well. We pushed out to some deeper water, and dropped the lines down. With the weather as rough as it was, we knew we were on a tight timeframe, but once again, in less than ten minutes, fish on. Emi winched that Halibut up from 300 feet like it was a brick of gold, but it hit the surface with a big cheer, and our freezer stocking goal was officially complete. Having some cultural diversity on Destination Adventure is so exciting for me, and seeing that translation in the cuisine is just delightful. I have never considered myself a "Foodie" but the more I travel and share food experiences, the more I really enjoy it. When I first met Emi, I could barely stomach the thought of raw fish, but now getting into making our own sushi is just awesome. I truly hope you will enjoy this episode, because for me it is such a pleasure to share this one.

Holy crab. Your buddy knows his craft very well. The guy has all the traits of an excellent charter fisherman. Very very well done Dustin and crew and the video taping of this was amazing. It blew most fishing shows literally out of the water in 10 minutes of watching and no lame commercials to be forced to watch!! Live action fishing with Dustin Porter, fill the freezer for the season in 30 minutes.

Loved the show. Must admit I read it wrong. It said a a visit to the Ocean FILLS our freezer. All I saw was a visit to Ocean FALLS and I couldn’t wait to see it. LOLOL. Anyhow I complained to hubby and he laughed. I was SO excited to see our pretty friend on the show. GREAT FISHING WOMAN! Hubby helped me reel in a 90 pound halibut once. That was 15 years ago and I still won’t shut up about it. You caught the perfect weight. Nice job. Cheers! Hope she comes on all your adventures now! Women are natural born fishermen! LOL

I felt like flying out with gravol for poor Emi. However she got paid back with all the crab and salmon. The look on her face after landing that fish was priceless.

Keep up the amazing work, best part of my Saturday mornings are getting into the shop at 6:30am, sitting down with a coffee and watching while I wait for the first customers to arrive.
Don't forget to use those big jigging lures! We get a lot of Fisher people grabbing those when they head out to the coast.
Hoping to do some jigging soon too. That jacket be keeping me nice and warm. And starting to collect a bit of adventure stain hahah

OMG!! I can't believe you caught a fish! I always tell my wife that we have the same luck fishing. I can use the same lure, in the same place everyone else is catching, and nothing! Hope you have continued good fishing and those crabs were a great bonus.🤠
My husband caught 150lb halibut at night, from the shore in Newport Beach, California, less than 10ft of water. He and all the other fishermen around him were surprised.

Really enjoying this season. The importance of getting a guide on the ocean, tides ,fish location. The ocean can be brutal. Enjoy sushi,really liked the preparation of the salmon, very educational. Great video!
This video was chock full of so much! Really enjoyed it. The joy on Emi's face getting that fish! You said to go over to another channel to see how fishing is done, maybe Haeden should start a channel doing just that, he seems like he would be good at it as he comes across as a fun and interesting guy with tons of knowledge. Again, the camera work, editing and natural beauty makes this video another winner.

Love your videos. Was in Rupert many years ago. I have so many memories of flying around BC. From flying in the cockpit of the Flying Goose into Tahziz on Vancouver Island at 14 years of age, to trading washing the Cessna mail seaplane in the harbor there for flying up and down the west coast of Vancouver Island delivering mail that summer, a ton of stories on those flights, glider flying out of Hope when in Air Cadets at 15, to flying into Telegraph Creek, Terrace, Rupert, and other towns in the interior. One of the sketchiest flights was taking my mom to Terrace for my brother's wedding. Weather was so bad we diverted to Rupert to land. When we were on approach I was sitting in the window seat looking out. As we were coming into the airport the cross winds were unbelievable. As we were coming down to the airstrip I realized I was actually looking down the runway on approach. My only thought was...wait a minute...shouldn't the pilot be looking down the runway? Why is the plane practically sideways to the runway? At the last possible second the pilot straightened out the 737 and, touched down with barely a bump, and we were on land. Whew. Then we bussed to Terrace and had a great time.
The best part was watching Emi ear to ear smile and the glow in her eyes when she was bringing in that fish even I was happy for her and I will always remember that

Congratulations 🎊 Emi. That was some awesome fishing you did there. I was a commercial fisherman in my youth and I seen some pretty robust men reduce to sniveling little girls by the seas you guys were in.
