- A collection of some of the most beautiful scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in England. As featured on a full-length DVD "Yorkshire Dales A Landscape of Longing" available from Play.com, Amazon.co.uk.
As some one who lives and works dry stone walling in this glorious little corner of the world I can't tell you how lucky I feel come rain or shine to be in this landscape.
My favourite place on this planet, I am 84 and a widow so not able to go to the Dales
any more, but always such happy memories
Audrey Brown
Your comment just touched my heart greatly!
I’m a Texan, but lived there 4 years and only back moved home to the Lone Star State two years ago.
I’ll never feel peace as I did in that lovely, lovely place.
Why can't you go back to the Dales?
Audrey- I hope you made it back to the dales- It is also my favourite place on earth
I moved out of Yorkshire and now I'm back. I love it here. The dales is a place I have visited often since childhood, in the snow, rain or shine. its where the heart lies.
The Lake District might have more dramatic scenery with their mountains and lakes, but from south of Huddersfield to the northern fringes of the county, the Yorkshire Dales and the quaint villages of sandstone in the south Pennies to the limestone villages towards the north Pennines, this part of England has something very special that creates a unique atmosphere.
I adore the Pennines Yorkshire Dales
I wasn't born in Yorkshire
Thou my heart lies there
Gods own County.

I went some years ago in a hired car in winter. We truly love Yorkshire.
im so glad i live in such a place
Live in South America which has some far more dramatic scenery but the Dales is outstanding for charming beauty. It mixes character, warmth and wildness in the right measure; not twee like the Cotswolds. Glencoe is great but diferent; it is less human. As the video says, the presence of man is important to the charm of the Yorshire Dales. Truly unique, beautiful place.
Have just bought this DVD for my Dad for Father's Day. We all spent a week in Swaledale at the end of May and had a great time.
Well done on an excellent production!
Had holidays in dales for 40 years. Just bought a static, so will be there even more. Dales my second home. Never tire of visiting. My ashes will be scattered at aysgarth waterfalls.
My dream is to see Yorkshire, and I hope that my dream will come true during september 2008. And that video obout Yorkshire dales is so beautiful.
Beautiful County. Lucky to live close by in good old Lancashire. Went up Ingleborough, one of the three peaks yesterday please feel free to have a look if you fancy, was stunning. Yorkshire Dales - Ascent of Ingleborough (2,372 ft)

Beautifull country! Greeting from Hungary+
How absolutely beautiful!!!! Reminds me a little of our Great Smoky Mountains. How special it must be to live there.
The award winning BBC television series All Creatures Great & Small was set in the Yorkshire Dales.
Ever since reading the James Herriot books when I was young I`ve had an overwhelming urge to see the Dales, possibly the most beautiful place on earth and coming from a Canadian thats saying something!! I hope I get the chance to visit someday. Sooo Beautiful!!
This makes me even prouder to be Yorksire born and bred tha knows! God's own country!
YORKSHIRE! YORKSHIRE! YORKSHIRE!
You are very lucky. The Yorkshire Dales are just magnificent!
Yorkshire born but I've been a long way (Ohio) from home for a long LONG time (20 years). Thank you for posting. BOY! What I'd give to be in Grassington/Whitby/Denby/ now.
Ah, wonderful Yorkshire. Southerners don't understand beauty when they see it!
Stunning views.
beautiful! better than I imagined!
An outstanding film by any standards. Expertly put together, well narated without having a tv personality forced upon us. You deserve to sell many DVDs of this and I hope you make more films of this quality.
My family heritage is originally from Yorkshire. I am to go back there someday.
Great views!
Beautiful. I've always loved and dreamt of the English countryside ever since learning of my ancestral roots in Yorkshire. Have only ever been to London, though....Northwest London, at that. :::sighs::: Would LOVE to see the dales....and the moors....one day....

Enjoyed video stunning photography all the banter about accents at the green dragon it was pretty obvious to everyone we were the only Americans visited every night for week gentleman from Manchester noticed my accent asked me where I was from said Virginia asked them where are ya'll from they were from Manchester we had a good laugh no offense at all their accent was like a Johnny marr to me definatly different than the local Dale's folks we all had a great time looking at o.s. maps everyone was friendly to us regardless where we from

Thank you for your comments. We do have a film with only music showing the beautiful Yorkshire countryside . Have a look for "DVD Postcard: Relaxing Yorkshire" on our website.
@PL7802 I live in California now, but born in Northern England. It's been 25 years since I've been back. It's so beautiful, I feel like I'm almost there.

I live in yorkshire :)
Emmerdale , Heartbeat and The Royal .
Why do some people insist on describing distances in metres or kilometres ; we still use the imperial , rather than the metric system when describing longer linear distances . Show me a signpost in the UK , that gives a distance in kilometres or metres , rather than miles or yards !
Absolutely spot on !
Would have been better if it was in higher resolution.
they should have geoffrey boycott or mick mccathy doing commentary on this video, that would be the icing on the cake.
Wow, this must be one of the oldest videos on CZcams! Lovely! 👍
Added in 2005!
Should of had Dickie Bird or Micheal Parkinson doing the commentary.
Gotta Love YORKSHIRE
@Adschi2010
It is different not better!
Reading thru the comments it seems everyone is keen to say how friendly Yorkshire people are but also to say how much they hate southerners. Is that not a bit of a contradiction.
Heather have a wonderful birthday.
Sallie.xx
no coastlines in the yorkshire dales
this deserves an awesome
but i wish the narrator was speaking in Yorkshire dialect!
*sigh* makes me feel guilty for taking all this for granted
Include South Yorkshire with that.
We have been making DVD films for 12 years and our viewers prefer a clearly spoken voiceover, uncorrupted by regional accents which some people such as hard of hearing or overseas vistors find difficult to understand.
The narrator is in fact from Oldham in Lancashire, and certainly not a 'snotty southerner' as you put it, so I am not sure why you can hear a southern accent?
You can watch the whole 52 mins of fantastic scenery on the DVD from w,w,w, yorkshirevideo dot co dot uk
More precisely 'Dale' is derived from Old Norse.
0:10, pweety and i been before =]]
Yorkshire and Cornwall should become independent nations.
England use to be a Danish colony?
czcams.com/video/wG7ar1FBfqY/video.html
Wrong, not Wessex, we in the south are Anglo-Saxon.
In 1014 Sveinn Tveskegg (Forkbeard) conquered England and was briefly King. His son Knut consolidated his conquest and arguably became England's greatest monarch. England was joined to Denmark and Norway as the central part of a North Sea empire which lasted for thirty five years.
If you value your life and reason, keep away from the moors and don't cross over the moss and stray from the path.
I'm on Long Island NY. I have been watching this show on Netflix called All Creatures Great and Small. It's setting is in Yorkshire in a fictitious town called Daraby. They often refer to the Dales on the show. I wanted to find out what the Dales refers to. Very pretty area. The show reminds me of the American Lassie TV show. I like the bygone era where no cursing is heard and no shagging seen. Better keep the Muslims away from the Dales or they will slaughter the sheep! AHAHAHAHAH
Gabriella Crociata Hi. I loved this show growing up. The town of darrowby is filmed in the real dales town of askrigg. The drovers arms is a real pub actually called the kings arms(great food) And the veterinary practice, skaledale house, is still on the highstreet and is a b&b at which I've stayed. If your interested in ever coming to yorkshire why don't you stay there? The dales is the most beatiful place in England.
Actually there is significant sheep stealing now, mostly for slaughter. Its a beautiful place but it doesn't stop the criminals.
its very luvly thx
my nana lives here i wana move her wen im older im curently 14 i wish to move here with mum at 18 maybee
NEW YORKshire XD
Pity it's of poor image quality
It's 14 years old, sorry.
@@SLordUK You're pardoned :) PS: There are other films of the Dales with good resolution!
Great video, gives you a chance to appreciate Yahweh creation, '' the Yorkshire Dales ''.
Jesus
geoffrey boycott shudda bin doin the commentary ont video.
@MrMattysmith83
Sorry to say you are slightly... incorrect with your choice of wording, the state of the art literature, the magnificent writers and of course, your majesty, the queen, mostly originates from London.
I would strongly suggest watching your choice of wording, "down south" involves a hell of a lot of people, insulting quite a lot of people on your own isn't a very smart act.
Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem, I seriously doubt God came from Yorkshire, Sorry.
My dream is to see Yorkshire, and I hope that my dream will come true during september 2008. And that video obout Yorkshire dales is so beautiful.
