First i was at the Elk Festival and it was miserably Hot!!! I like the idea of the velvet hunt but here in Arkansas it is too hot around the first of September even if you quickly kill the buck and skin it out put on ice the meat will most likely be ruined in 90 to 100° temps!

Can a hunter shoot a buck if it's already lost it's velvet.? Most of the bucks I've had on game camera have lost there velvet by the 1st of September in the West Central part of the state.!

I watch the a.g.f. spend a lot of money planting an working in other ways. But are also guilty of destroying our game quality an numbers by opening new seasons an weapons. Returning to the need to have a new regulation ,year afteryear . Turkey deer an quail for instance we work so hard to get them to hunting populations now we have disease an weather varmints hogs that are problems. This alternative weapons season should not be . It should in with regular rifle , it screws up primitive weapons. Opens up more depletion deer herd. It's all about the money. As you probably can tell I am very frustrated with your ability to take care of game an hunting. How long till you just hunt any thing any time with any weapon as long as you pay .
