About time someone said these things, especially the vaccines. I used to trust my vet absolutely, i used to wish I could send my kids there instead of our impersonal NHS.. but over the last 2 decades the vets have become smarmy corporate insurance salesmen, and it's a different person every time. I'd better not write what happened to our dog .. he did get better but no thanks to the vet

I agree with the majority of your advise and you had excellent suggestions. However, recommending that horses not be vaccinated isn’t safe advise. A lot of vets won’t maintain clients who do not have yearly visits. Also, I’ve never been at a boarding barn that didn’t require them. Lastly, if your horse gets bitten by a wild animal (and I’ve seen it happen) or run into a rusty fence, having the rabies and tetanus vaccines at the very least is essential. Horses do crazy things sometimes!
